Sad to say that after years of raving about Chu's, I Was sadly disappointed last night. Food was bland, tasted like something you might get in a can or a box. Atmosphere still nice and the owners are still super sweet but the food, I have to say was rather awful. I had the seafood salad and my 7 yr old granddaughter had chicken chow mein her favorite dish, even she said "this isn't so great." read more

Great lunch. Perfect sushi but also perfect Chinese. My husband isn't in to sushi so it is perfect to be able for the both of us. I had the Tekka Maki and my husband had the Mongolia beef both were wonderful. read more

I used to be a regular here for several summers during the lunch time... It got to be that i could walk in, tell the server 'the usual' and have my drink, salad, and soup in front of me within a few minutes, then have my entree , dry braised chicken, in front of me within 15 minutes. I Love Chu's! My husband and I went on a date to the Chu's by the airport, and I am pretty sure they are owned by the same company. I have to say, I didn't LOVE my food, but looking back, I got something that was sort of bland (garlic shrimp, maybe?). All of the sides were excellent, and the service was awesome. My husband also loved his food. I think I just ordered something that wasn't my thing...I was trying to not get the same thing I always get, and I regretted it! But, I would still definitely go back. I could tell everything was quality. Tonight we had Chu's Too for the first time, and it was so excellent. So wonderful! We had the Family dinner, which is a sample of salad, several sides, soup, sushi, and egg rolls, pot stickers, won-tons. We were so impressed!!! GO! You won't regret it. Great food. Fast, friendly service. Our favorite dish is the House Special Dry Braised chicken. Sushi here is also very good. Not cheap but not outrageously expensive either. We've been coming here for at least twelve years and it does not disappoint. read more

Decent food. A bit bland. I had the shrimp with vegetables and it was covered with cream of corn which was strange to me. The sushi was falling apart and a bit flavorless. The soup was super yummy and there was plenty of food. The service was amazing and the place is very quaint. The food came out very fast. I'm not sure I'll go back though. read more

Love, love this place!!! Sushi and Chinese food. We order VIP style which is not on the menu. The waiter brings us whatever. Sometimes just sushi, sometimes a combination of sushi and Chinese. We are never disappointed and we don't have to try to make a decision on what to order. Dinner ends with dessert if we have room. Sometimes sweet saki, or tempura ice cream or green tea ice cream. read more

I really liked this place! Very friendly staff, Lambeau was a really fun guy to talk to! Food and atmosphere was good, though they are a small restaurant so there is not as much of a selection as Peter Chu's skyroom, but fantastic all the same. We sat at the small bar and enjoyed California rolls as we waited to get our food to go. They have a nice wine selection as well. read more

Quaint and very enjoyable! The food was delicious and absolutely outstanding! The chef even came out to take our order personally, or maybe they were just low staffed at the moment. Warm and welcoming. It may appear to be a small building but they also have outdoor seating so you can enjoy your sushi or chow mein in the glorious weather~! We have been eating there for years and its always the best. I moved here from southern california so I have had sushi from san diego to san fransisco and I have not had any better. This is terrible sushi, just moved to Redding and looking for a good sushi spot-this is not it! I ordered a Rainbow roll and it was the worst I've had. My advice is go to Safeway. Hey, my husband liked his General Tso chicken, but let's be honest he couldn't enjoy it with all the bitching I was doing about Redding's sushi. read more

After having tried ALL the others in the area, this one is the best. We go there just for chinese food, not sushi. On our first trip we said lets try the basics so we had a chow mein, a vegetarian dish and started with sizzling rice soup. It had been a long time since I had some that good, and it was in the Bay Area of course. So we decided to go back, have the soup again, and some other more adventurous things. The owner was clearly trying to make everyone happy with the food. We liked it again. Now we have mostly quit going to the other chinese restaurants, but there are two that we think are fine, China Boat and one out Eureka Way a ways. Redding's chinese food as far as we can discover is all 50-60s era. We plan to go back again. One last thing, why does everyone rate everything in Redding with Four Stars on average? The quality varies more than that average seemingly indicates. I think people largely like what they are used to. I read the critical reviews; and am adding this later--we've been back six more times and it is definitely at least as good as any other Chinese restaurant in Redding. read more

Sooo yummy! We got spring rolls, kung pao chicken lunch special, vegetable fried rice and a spicey tuna crunch roll. The sushi rolls are huge and so delicious! me and the wife went here once because Iv'e known Peter Chu's for a long time and have always heard good things. so we went after lunch once and goddamn it was the best service i have EVER had anywhere. there was two men at the door waiting to greet us, our food arrived quickly and our server came by frequently to make sure we were alright. the food portions were gnarly i got a chicken/veg teriyaki and i couldn't finish it. ill give em that it wasn't busy at the time so maybe thats why we had such good service, though im really understanding with restaurants when it is busy. i have a feeling these guys know how to handle business. read more

The chicken in my chicken vegetable lunch was all skin. NO meat. The hot & sour soup was neither hot nor sour. Bland all the way. My husband's lemon chicken was also bland, kinda tasteless. We're traveling and read the good reviews of this place, but it wasn't good at all. read more

The setting was very quaint. At first sight the building looked pretty sketchy. But the inside is very nice. After we were seated, they brought out wonton chips and sweet & sour sauce. Which was great. Next came the sweet and sour soup. Which I was not a fan of. Basically just s&s sauce mixed in with miso soup. But we ordered vegetarian egg rolls which were very good. My entree of house low mein was great except for the beef, which resembled wet dog food. The chicken and shrimp were great though. Minus the soup and the beef, everything was great. read more

I have been eating here for years. The staff is super friendly! I always take my friends here when they tell me they haven't been. The dining area is cozy or you can enjoy the patio in the summer. My personal fave is their Kung Pao Chicken (extra spicy) its consistently fantastic! read more

The Mongolian Beef is typically tender and yummy, but tonight both orders were pretty tough and chewy. I really hope this is not a trend, (selection of a lessor quality cut of beef) because this is one of our favorite take-outs. read more

Chu's Too is a wonderful restaurant. The food is excellent and consistent. My family and I love the specialty rolls (especially the New Amazing Roll). We also get their dinners as well. Our favorite dishes are almond chicken, walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, and the list goes on. Even though we think the food is fantastic one of the main reasons we keep coming back is because of the customer service! When you walk through the door, the man who greats you is quite possibly the happiest man in the world. Every time we come in he is very welcoming and so positive. He makes me happy just taking to him. Chu's is my favorite restaurant in Redding. I don't live in Redding anymore but whenever I come back to visit family I have to go here.
