so glad my boyfriend and i came across this spot today. i had a random craving for a simple quesadilla and this place popped up. however, once we got there, it was immediately clear i wasn't just going to be getting a quesadilla. i love that they offer not just burritos, but also "small burritos" for those who may not have as big of an appetite. even being advertised as small, they still looked pretty thick and filling. i really enjoyed their chips, and my boyfriend liked their tots. i also ended up getting a side of spanish rice because it just looked so tempting. it turned into such a delicious and satisfying lunch, and now i have a new go-to spot for a quick bite of mexican food! read more

I don't get to Chronic Tacos too often as there are not many near me, but I always enjoy it when I am in an area with one. I like how you can build your own plate, pick your toppings and the various options. The theme of Chronic Tacos is SoCal Taco life, 3rd generation Mexican recipes, fresh ingredients and a casual atmosphere. The guys behind the counter were helpful and generous with the toppings. You pretty much can get any combination of meat and toppings you can think of. I personally got the two taco plate with rice and pinto beans and a side of chips and salsa, with a soda. I got a Pollo Asado and an Al pastor taco, meat is so flavorful and the put enough meat I. Them to make 3 or 4 tacos. Their hot salsa is the one I liked the best, but all were very good. The restaurant is fairly small inside, but clean and a nice, no interior searing, only exterior patio seating, but that works perfectly, it is a very nice patio. There is a large parking lot, but it can get very busy, so you may have to park a bit further unless you get lucky. Even with the parking not being the greatest, I would recommend you checking them out and getting some good food and cool vibes. Enjoy! read more

We stopped into Chronic Tacos today for some fast casual Mexican food in the heart of Irvine. The service was friendly and efficient, in the midst of the bustling lunch rush. If you like a casual quick ambiance, there is outdoor seating only at this location. I ordered a fish taco and Chronic fries, with an horchata on the side. We had Chronic Tacos for lunch today. So glad our Office Coordinator ordered it. For protein, she got us the carnitas and chicken. They both were good. I had a little taste of the carnitas but ate mostly chicken with lettuce, and a bit of rice and beans. Everything was tasty and well received. This place is more of a quick service taco place. Similar to chipotle the food is sitting out and you choose your options. Lead was a little dry. For the kids meal and two taco. No inside seating so you are sitting outside next to the street and parking. read more

In terms of food, the carne asada burrito was wrapped with flour tortilla and stuffed with white rice, refried beans, carne asada and some lettuce and tomatoes. The flour tortilla was really good, and tasted like it was freshly made (as opposed to the pre made ones with tons of preservatives). I was a bit disappointed with the stuffing inside, as the stuff inside was pretty flavorless (e.g. white rice was very plain, lettuce a bit soggy). The chips were decent, although the salsa Verde was a bit too spicy for my taste. Overall, still a decent option in Irvine during your lunch break, but nothing to write home about. read more

Ain't no taco like a Chronic Taco! This is one of my favorite local chains for good taco grub. They have tons of different options like burritos, nachos, quesadillas. My favorite item is the tacos! They are served with a good portion of meat, and unlimited toppings of your choice. My fave is the pico de gallo, cheese, lettuce, and their delicious Baja sauce. Everytime I come in, the restaurant is always clean and well organized. They run a well-run machine. All of the workers are fast and kind. There isn't seating inside, but this shopping center has tons of outside tables. My only critique is this shopping center gets very busy and sometimes chaotic due to all the stores and yummy options here--so that give a bit of extra time! read more

Our family has gone to this location for at least five years, and we always come back for the great service and quality food at quality prices. It's assembly style: think Chipotle but ACTUALLY authentic and appropriately priced for the quality. We sometimes order in-person, which is always super fast, but nowadays we mostly order through their website or app which are both VERY convenient. Instead of five people deciding last minute what they want and taking up a ton of time, we can simply order and pay ahead for pickup. Food is always generously portioned, fresh, and still warm by the time it touches our dining room table. The staff at Chronic Tacos make sure that you're 100% satisfied with your experience, and go out of their way to make sure you have enough salsa, guacamole, or chips. No skimping around here! The minute I saw that they had potato tacos on the menu with various options to customize with toppings, the decision was made to order takeout for lunch. I've never been here before, but I think it's the closest and reasonably price taco place near me. Plus, the delivery fee on Uber Eats was $0.49 at the time. I ended up picking up 2 potato tacos with the works (guacamole, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream and baja sauce). The baja sauce ended up being a little overwhelming and the tomatoes tasted more like a pico de gallo, but overall, everything really hit the spot for me. The tacos were super crispy and although it was a mess to eat, I'm pretty sure I inhaled this in less than 5 minutes lol. I also got the California burrito with carnitas, black beans, guacamole, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, salsa verde and sour cream. The tacos filled me up, but I did eat this for dinner. They really filled the burrito with meat and it was flavorful. I really do enjoy the option where you can customize your topping at no additional cost. As a person who is generally hungry and loves tacos, chronic tacos is one of those spots that is inoffensive, but not brilliant. The servings are humongous so if you are starving or coming down from some thing, this is where you want to go. They tend to be over-salted in their meat products and other than the salsas, their accompaniment, such as rice and creams for toppings, are very so-so. Edible, but not brilliant. I've had a few versions of the taco plate and return here every so often when I'm starving in the area and need a quick bite. But I don't hunt this place out. Service is generally polite. Atmosphere is a little bit bleak. Overall it is fine but not fantastic. read more

I had a 2 star review here from last year, but they have REALLY cleaned up since then. They give 3 scoops of meat, and have much more consistency with portions.
