Meh. Called in here the other day to get some work done on the aul lappytoppy. When I first entered, I was greeted with what seemed to be a bix of a mixture between confusion and hostility. Mega watt smile flashed, I settled her a little, though the seething was still pretty visible. Not unlike a befuddled dragon. Welcome aside, I was swiftly served my tea (just yer average run of the mill tea bags. I do like some 'proper' tea on a Monday, with a strainer and the likes). They have free wifi, and I was left largely alone to do my work without any hassle. Decor-wise, I'd probably call the place pretty impersonal and generic. Industrial lighting and harsh flooring / furniture. Suffice to say, I'm not a fan. If I was privy to a better reception from the staff, my review may have been more favourable, but as it is, I won't be back.

Unfriendly staff and the food wasn't that great either. We had scrambled eggs with toast. Very basic for what you pay. (€5,95) There was a lot of choice at the dessert buffet, but quite expensive. We won't go there again!

This place is located right opposite the Jameson Distillery, so it's in a snug little spot. It has a great outdoor dining area and inside is very spacious with a deep wooden feel to it. They have a great selection of food displayed in a carvery style way. From rustic sausages to a wide variety of salads. They also have wine, beer and various coffees. I had a bowl of the sun-dried broccoli salad (you can get larger portions) and some brown bread and coffee, worked out around €7. He had a fancy filled bagel and latte. We were both really satisfied, really healthy wholesome stuff. He's American so when he said, 'I think this is the best food I have got since I landed.' I knew that it's good. Other highlights are that you are near the luas, the lighthouse cinema and also it's all pedestrianised so the noise level is bearable.

Christophe's is a cafe that I have always wanted to like. I'm a complete salad junkie, and they have a salad bar where you can order a big plateful of "gourmet salads", from broccoli and cheese to shredded carrot. The thing is, the salads watery and rather tasteless, and the food is generally overpriced for what you get. I ordered the soup of the day on another occasion which was similarly lacking in flavour. I've met a friend here for lunch a few times and mutually agreed that our experiences were, in one word, bland. They do quiches and stews and big Toulouse sausages too which I admit I haven't tried. The place is hopping every lunchtime with solicitors and barristers and office workers from the area, so maybe I've just been ordering the wrong thing. It gets one more chance...

Open early so if you're struggling to find a place, this is it. The Irish breakfast hits the spot - the buttery toast was heavenly and the blood sausage was my favorite part - hearty and delicious. It also came with sausage, sunny side up egg, sweet beans and ham. The service is like none other from the minute you walk in, you feel like you're at an old friends place and as you leave, they give you recommendations and a list of local bars and hangouts that Irish people love. When I go back to Dublin, I'm definitely going back here for breakfast.

Maybe sarcastic but not rude. What was annoying was them telling everyone their credit card machine would be down and then you'd have to wash dishes or stay until it came back up. They did this to the table next to us but then came back and seemed like it was a joke and was like "oh it's back up." When it came time for us to pay they said it was down and needed to pay cash. We pushed back a little and said you've literally said that to everyone then the guy became rude. So we get out cash and go to pay and he's like oh I'm restarting the machine you can pay by card. That was annoying. Other than that place was small and quaint. Serves traditional Irish breakfast items. Food was good, just don't expect anything to be favorable. Food in general in Ireland is very bland.

I accidentally dropped the top dollop of the croffin and the staff member was very kind to replace it with a new one, which was not necessary but VERY much appreciated! It was very clean, organized, and well run/managed. They have two restrooms and have water available as well. We enjoyed this place so much we went twice (which we try not to do) during our Ireland road trip! Tried the onion and the potato savory pastries and they were perfect! I didn't wait more than 5/10 minutes. I grabbed a couple of different things for us to try -- the focaccia, morning bun, salted caramel roll, and the cinnamon roll. My favorite was easily the focaccia, which could compete with the best I had in Italy -- so good. The morning bun was good, but nothing crazy exciting. The salted caramel roll had to be the least caramel-y caramel roll I've ever had, but it didn't taste bad and the salted part was interesting (in a good way!). The Cinnamon roll was unique, which I appreciate. It had a big glob of cream cheese frosting (too much for me, but I imagine it would float a lot of folks' boats) and some orange flavoring! I quite liked the orange. I wanted to get a matcha to go, but they said they didn't have disposable cups. You could buy a 5 euro reusable one and then if you brought it back you'd get a refund... interesting, but I was leaving that day and wouldn't be back in the area. I can't speak to the ambiance because we were in and out, but it looked like they had a decent amount of space. All in all, I would recommend this place! For me it was a 4, but I'm sure for some it would bop up to a 5.

Sunken below street level it feels more off the main path and you have to keep your eyes out to find it easily. Walking in the place has a real chill and cozy vibe up front. I was seated right way and ordered off their all day menu. I got their Double Baked eggs, brown soda bread, bacon, sausage and roast tomato. For my tastes the double baked eggs were overdone, but that's double baked for you. Everything else was so delicious though that I truly didn't even notice. It was a wonderful pile of meat overflowing out of a little skillet with a stack of soda bread and butter. Truly it was a delight. I also ordered up their irish coffee. This was especially fun because it's not a simple shot of whiskey, coffee and cream. They create a brown sugar syrup blended with the whiskey to cook off the alcohol but retain the flavor. This means you can day drink and not even bat an eye at it being strange. The flavor was delicious and I'll be trying to recreate this at home for sure.

Visiting Ireland for the first time, I did my best to read up on good places to grab breakfast,…read morebaked goods in Dublin and Brother Hubbard popped up on a few lists, Reddit posts, so I put it on my list to try and I'm glad I did! I walked in on a Wednesday morning, right as they opened at 9am, and was seated immediately. The sit-in part of Brother Hubbard is bright, relaxing, spacious with plenty of tables inside and there's a patio outside with plenty of tables as well. The waitress came over with a menu and gave me plenty of time to look it over. She was very courteous and pleasant, checking in throughout my time there, never hovering. For breakfast, I ordered an Americano, a ginger scone, and their Irish Oat Porridge - Classic. Their porridge is organic oats made with milk and with ordering it as "Classic", it was served with cream and honey. Starting with the ginger scone, this was another case of a perfectly baked scone - Crispy, golden exterior with a moist, buttery interior. The flavor of ginger was perfectly balanced and the raisins inside were a nice supplement to the scone. The porridge was really good, I loved the creaminess of it! Both did a nice job of filling me up and setting me up for the day of walking to come. Funny enough, around 3:30pm, I stopped here again to grab a mid-afternoon treat and ordered the chocolate and hazelnut Babka, their soft bun filled with chocolate and toasted hazelnuts. This pastry was crazy tasty! A slightly crispy exterior with a croissant-like inside chocked full of chocolate and those toasted hazelnuts. This was so rich and truly decadent. Brother Hubbard is a gem of a breakfast and pastry spot! I appreciate the relaxing café environment with friendly staff and high-quality food. Brother Hubbard is a solid spot for breakfast and brunch, serving entrees, lighter fare and offers a pastry assortment that will have you pondering about getting takeout. I visited Brother Hubbard on a Sunday, half an hour after it opened and was able to be seated immediately. However, the brunch rush came afterwards and by the time I left, the entire place was filled. It's popular. And yes, it's the same spot Phil Rosenthal ate at. I even saw the owner who was featured on the show here, helping out with clearing tables and so forth. I ordered the traditional Irish breakfast and an iced chai latte. The food was good and actually, not as heavy as I anticipated. It came with an egg, sausage, bacon, beans and a pudding, which I had to look up. It's ground meat with oats and is molded into a patty. It didn't taste bad, so can see why it's served around these parts of the world. And the meal also came with another item I had to look up, colcannon bread, which was a potato bread with kale. And it was my favorite part of the breakfast! Delicious. If you're looking for a breakfast spot in Dublin, then I'm pretty sure you already know about Brother Hubbard, which is popular, all for good reason. The food was tasty, service was friendly and I loved how bright and welcoming the restaurant was. I was satisfied.
