We were some of the first guests inside as we made a 5pm reservation on a Wednesday. We ordered a blackberry martini and an Italian margarita (frozen, upon request) and they were both incredible. We got bread service and the focaccia was the best of the three (the wheat needs some help). We ordered the Almond Crusted Brie which was decent (my mother loved it while I found the apricot-mango chutney to be a little too overwhelming). For my main course I went with the special of the night, a Sautéed Yuzu Halibut with Bok Choy and Carrots over purple sticky rice for $48. It was incredible! My mother got her favorite, the Zihuatanejo Redfish. I tried a bite and it was out of this world. The portion size of her plate was huge. We ordered bread pudding to-go. Our waitress was super attentive even when service picked up. We had a cute lad named Cole who filled up our water and wished me a happy stay here in College Station (which was so so sweet). The communication between the staff made the experience so much better! I will point out that the building does smell musty, my tablecloth had a quarter sized red stain on it, and the silverware had visible dust but nevertheless, these things did not take away from the experience. When I travel to different cities, I enjoy going to restaurants recommended by locals. When you hear, "oh you have to go here", I try and go. Well tonight I listened and took my coworkers out to dinner. I ordered the Salmon and side Caesar. It was delectable and presented with the highest standards. It looked like art you could eat. The salmon was perfectly prepared and everything on the side was just as good. All of us at the table cleaned our plates. The atmosphere was really eclectic and the service made us feel welcome. A much vaunted place but disappoints on many levels. First the good : very cool place that is in a refurbished house and slightly old fashioned but nice decor. They do make pretty decent cocktails and have a wine list that is alright, but a bit all over the place in terms of markups. The bad...the food just always leaves you unexcited and not really satisfying. Everyone aggressively tries to up-sell you starting from offering a drink to , apps, wine and through dessert and then to have to listen to the chefs story is a bit much. I will say that I had decent brunch, but its hard to mess up eggs. But a duck breast once time had flabby skin, steak overcooked and had to be sent back and then the next one was blue inside, pastas are overcooked (I can forgive this because people seem to not like al-dente pastas!) but too much sauce. Overall not my favorite place and I avoid hosting business dinners there or joining anyone for business dinners there read more

If you're visiting Bryan college station then you want to go to extremely high-end fantastic restaurants, then this place is it for you. I found it on yelp. Read the reviews. They look great. I called a friend who lives in college station. He actually told me he got engaged at this place, it is so special. I had the scallops appetizer. The server suggested that I add lump crabmeat to it. It was fantastic. For an entrée, I had a swordfish special dish. It was extremely tasty. Very nice. My wife had a special order grilled chicken with mixed vegetables and rice. The chef prepared her something extremely good. We had a great dessert. The presentation was as good or better than I've ever seen anywhere in the world. I'll post a picture. It was extremely nice. And it was tasty. I had whiskey for I warm up before the meal. They offer a premium cube of ice, which are usually like. One large cube. When the bartender served it, he pulled out a brass hand device and pressed into the ice to put the logo of the restaurant onto the ice cube. Very nice presentation. read more

The experience here was wonderful! We came for a work group gathering, which was great. I would definitely come back to this location for a date night if I were ever in the area with my husband. I ordered a bacon wrapped salmon with a variety of vegetables, and WOW! Amazing! I do have to say, that even though our group ordered many different plates, we were all very pleased! I greatly enjoyed hearing about the story of what makes this restaurant unique, the expertise of the Chef and specialized attention to sauces from experience in Zihuatanejo, I believe... if I have that correct and having been there, it made it special to hear this. Wow! I would say this is one of the top restaurants in the Bryan- College Station area! We made reservations but arrived pretty early and so we decided to sit at the bar first. We ordered the strawberry citrus sangria with white wine- muddled with fresh strawberries and orange and topped with Grand Marnier. It was refreshing! We had the Vietnamese egg rolls for apps, Pepper seared NY strip and Pastramied Scottish Salmon for main course- ahhmazing! Creme brûlée for dessert was fabulous! We came here for a special occasion and we left very satisfied. For starters, I suggest the shrimp & crawfish fondue it was amazing and warm perfect for a cold evening. The service was great the entire time as our waiter was extremely attentive, kind, and very professional. I decided to ordered the Christopher's filet and my boyfriend ordered the a Delmonico Ribeye. I am always a fan when sides come with plates it make it all so much easier. The plating was perfect and it all complimented each other. The ribeye plate came with some au gratin potatoes that were so creamy and delicious -- I definitely have never tasted anything like that. 12/10 As for my steak, it was deliciously cooked medium like I had requested and was laying in a bed of creamy spinach that was truly cooked to perfection. We finished off the evening with a apple cheesecake dessert and an Espresso martini both really great options. I would say this is one of the best fining dining spots in college station you really can't mess up with an outing here. Expensive Food and Fine Dining Are Two Different Things. This is Expensive Food. The kitchen missed more often than it hit and there was one huge service howler. * * * Christopher's does have its charms though. They do an amazing ONION SOUP. There is onion soup and there is ONION SOUP. The difference between petty and grand onion soup is how long you cook the onions. Most places just cook the onions enough to be serviceable and then make it a high markup dish by melting cheese on top and serving it in a crock. Big stinking deal. Christopher's really knows what onion soup is all about. The longer onions cook, the more they caramelize, and the more taste the stock gets. Starting with a concentrated beef broth and then really concentrating the onion stock and then filling that bowl with totally caramelized onions takes the dish to deeper more earth-moving levels. Plus, they don't bury the soup in the standard impasto of ho hum cheese. They make one giant toasted baguette crouton and put a goat cheese spread on the baguette. The cheese stays on the bread and does not mix with the stock. But if you want your cheese thrill you can get it with the toast. Lovely lovely lovely lovely lovely. Another plus is dessert. I did not have any (boo hoo) because I am watching my weight (and my accompanist was full.) But Christopher's has a huge dessert reputation. I saw the decadent treats being taken to other tables. I definitely wanted everything I saw. Restaurant desserts normally don't tempt me, but these were ringing all my chimes. I will have to save that taste test for another occasion. * * * Unfortunately, those were the high points. There were a whole lot of low points. My old fashioned from the bar was a waste of bourbon. The issue? Drowning the craft cocktail in a ton of ice cubes. If you are going to water down your booze with ice, why do you need mixing and flavors? The flavorings will all turn into water under the ice. They list about four ingredients in their old fashioned recipe. I couldn't taste any of them. The main dish was a ginger beef that played into the worst American instincts of dumping a ton of sugar on top of their meat. Steak does not need sugar on it. Ginger is fine. Cloying glaze is not. The steak came wrapped in a girdle of bacon. This is another classic but questionable call. Why does steak need extra salt or extra fat? And if I want sweet bacon, I can order pancakes and bacon at IHOP and pour maple syrup all over it. Now a classic steak au poivre, or a steak with a marchand de vin sauce, these are complementary flavors. Bacon not so much. Vegetable garnishes and grains were taste-dead. A burrata of a sachet of mozzarella with mozzarella filling on charred cherub tomatoes had worse texture than plain old cold mozzarella with tomatoes. And tomatoes in Texas being basically mediocre, charring them did not do much to give them extra interest. * * * What was the service howler? About twenty minutes before closing time, they turn the music in the restaurant up really loud, to cut into the conversation so people get up and leave. If I am paying $130 for a meal, being made uncomfortable at my table twenty minutes before closing is ungraciousness to the max. * * * Funny side note - which in my mind was a plus. If you go to Christopher's check out the carpet. The carpet is in a Jaguar skin pattern. This is the Jaguar skin look that might appear on Joan Collin's bra. Or on a seductress's sofa meant to prime jungle instincts. This certainly represents an unusual approach to decoration in a fine-dining establishment. At least, the wait staff was not wearing fish-net stockings. That might have been a bit much for Bryan-College Station. * * * The kitchen is unreliable here - but that does not mean universally bad. If you ate here a lot, you could learn what is good and what is not so good. The best dishes at Christopher's really are quite excellent. But at the prices they charge, finding out what you like could be very expensive experimentation. Rub your Lucky Rabbit's Foot, Spin your Magic Wheel, and Pray to the Deity of Your Choice. Or you can save yourself a whole ton of money By saving your big nights out for Houston and Eating somewhere more reliable. read more

Christopher's has been my go-to for the best dinner ever since I was a teenager. The only plate I've ever gotten is the Christopher's House Filet and it has always been consistently delicious. I dearly miss their lunch time hours and I really hope they bring them back, even if its just a couple days out of the week. Christopher's, along with the Republic, is one of two fine dining restaurants in the BCS area. Although at times the food can be a tad too salty, the food quality along with the service, is always excellent. When we lived in College Station, this was our go-to for weekend brunches. They change the menu often, give large portions, and really understand the fact that most of their customers are college students celebrating a special occasion (for which they often have a surprise). I decided I was going to take my fiancé here the night we got engaged, I have left a review on here before and if you look for it, it shows how much I loved my experience last time. This time was no different, everything was absolutely delicious. This was her first time here, and she begs me to go back, its about an hours drive from us, but this is our favorite restaurant by far, no other steakhouse or grille even comes close to christophers world grille. Over the past three years, I have been there 3 time in the past 3 years. Only the first visit would approach any of the hype around this establishment. The dining area is "cute" and "trendy', the building is an old house and adds to the atmosphere, the HVAC air handler could use work but it is in Texas and the heat is unprecedented (most places in town are experiencing this right now). The door staff were very friendly and nice for all visits. However, the waitstaff could use some structure. On visit #2, the waiter was near insufferable and the meals were a disgrace to quality of ingredients, price of the meal, and my time. The fish was returned to the kitchen because it was not properly cleaned and filleted for the type of fish. This lead to a poor flavor and defensive wait staff, to the point that the check was politely paid and our party exited and went to another establishment in town for an at least 4 star meal (there are a couple of other options in BCS for the same price and raw product quality). The third and most recent visit was not on my dime, so no word was said on my part to influence the group decision (not my dime and I had food at home). This time the staff were overly busy by no fault of their own. Again, everyone left feeling disappointed. The food this time was far from Houston 5 star good (FYI, I'm not a Houstonian but cant argue about the restaurants there). The long-short: at one time this place was the best thing going in BCS. There are more options now and Christopher's must have let their game slip. This is a shame, but if you expect 5 star food and reasonable "cook" and staff, go else were in town or drive to outskirts of Houston. If you want a good cocktail and dont mind the average tasting overpriced appetizers made with good quality ingredients, give it a go! I wanted to go to a nice restaurant as we were visiting from California and my husband said pick one. I also wanted a good steak so this restaurant had a good review. Did not disappoint, the wait staff was terrific our waiter was Alex and he was very attentive and so was everyone else. We had this brie appetizer with slivered almonds on top and chutney sauce which was excellent. Of course I had a steak and it did not disappoint and my husband had bacon wrapped salmon which was very good. He had a dirty martini and I had an Italian margarita. This was the first time I found a place that had Italian margaritas like the one I get back in California which I love. I would've love to have dessert but I was too full. read more
