I've seen this place for years and wanted to stop. I love seafood but my wife doesn't so I don't get it very often. I got a cup of gumbo and it was pretty big. Tasted good. Not much seafood in it. I got the Grand Isle fish and it was good. Pretty spicy. Not the best I've ever had but still good. My wife got fettuccine Alfredo on the kids menu. She said it was good. It was a grown up portion. I got a mojito. Very good. She said they make their own syrups. My wife got key lime pie for dessert. Hmmmm mmmm good. Our waitress was awesome. She checked on us regularly without being a nuisance. Everything about this place is great. The decoration 10/10, food is 10/10 too. Prices are very standard. Ambiance: I mean cmon the windows are even to theme. The inside is cute and more dimly lit. There are mostly table and chairs. There is medium noise level. The service is very attentive and friendly. I felt very welcomed and comfortable here! Hush puppies: It is pretty crispy and the inside is less sweet and more spicy. I did see bits of jalapeño inside. The flavor is very good and it was crispy. Fried shrimp: The fried shrimp tasted very fresh and it was well seasoned. Actually, kinda spicy if you cant really handle spice. The fries also had similar spicy seasoning.The food was very tasted though and decent portion. Boil-N-Pot: There is so much flavor in this dish. It is pretty spicy as the food soaks up the spices. Service, food and drinks were amazing as usual. One of my favorite places to eat when visiting the area. Absolutely love the new restaurant and everything they have done to spruce it up compared to the old one! Only weird thing was, I got cold butter with my crab legs. Since that is all I ever eat here and I am used to melted clearer butter. I was thrown off. I then asked for a new one and they brought out 2 smaller room temperature butters. The waitress noticed what the kitchen brought me and I explained that the butter has never been a bright yellow and cool before. She came back with what I needed. In two weeks of eating at a different restaurant every day in BCS, this was my favorite. Gotta start with the building - these guys are COMMITTED! (And the old location across the street looks like an actual shipwreck.) Inside, everything fits the theme and is appealing. They don't just offer Cajun cuisine - they have Cajun waiters! (At least, ours was.) The Jalapeno Poppers were HUGE - see photo of me holding one; it's nearly grenade-size. The decor goes with the Theme, ordered crab cakes and hush puppies. Carson was my waiter. Was disappointed when my crab cakes came out, flat discs! Looked like a frozen disc and was just heated up! The shipwreck sauce was too spicy for me! Carson suggested a dairy dill vinaigrette, it had Parmesan in it and overpowered the crabcakes, but it was a lot better than the spicy shipwreck sauce . The crab cakes tasted just okay, I was expecting a lot more in appearance! The hush puppies served with cocktail sauce, they were spicy, I think they had jalapeños in them! I have always enjoyed Shipwreck Grill. Today we tried the new restaurant. I've got to say that I really miss the old place. It felt more like an old shrimp boat and the food was always good. That said, the new restaurant was nicely decorated, clean and the service was great. The issue this time was the food. While our server was attentive, the food took a really long time to come out. I ordered Snow Crab Legs, and boy was I disappointed! The legs were discolored and had no meat in them at all. They were totally inedible and I was really surprised that the kitchen would send those out! The manager did apologize and told me that they were overcooked. I was so disappointment, that I didn't order anything else. The rest of the crew had fried oysters and shrimp. It was just okay. I guess Shipwreck is more of a shrimp and oyster venue. I had thought since they were a seafood restaurant that they would have decent crab legs. Next time, I would definitely stick with their fried staples. read more

After driving past this place for easily two years now, we finally decided to stop in and it was worth our while! The service was excellent and very kind. Tried this for the first time ever the other day and was not disappointed! I got the buffalo crawfish and diablos shrimp with fries. Now I want to try their other options. Everything I had was good. We also got some queso with crawfish. It was really good. My boys had a corn dog and burger. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich and enjoyed it very much. The tables inside are really really small for 4 people which is my only complaint. The waitress we had was really nice and helpful. Next time we'll probably come back when we can sit outside and enjoy the weather. But OH WE WILL BE BACK! read more

The new place is beautiful! There was 4 of us and no-one had to wait long for anything. The oysters on the half shelf were so good! I had the shrimp diablo fettuccine and while it was spicy is was perfectly cooked. Our server Shawn was awesome and entertaining. The owner came by our table and talked to us several times and we saw him out there busing tables and helping his staff the whole time we were there. Shipwreck is always good with the food and the service and reasonable prices. They moved across the street from where they have been for many years. The new restaurant is much bigger than the old place and is very nice as its all new buildout. My wife and I split the fried fish and shrimp platter. We don't eat very much, so even splitting we left some. It was all very good. One thing they did that I thought was over the top. My wife cannot eat raw oysters and I sure can't eat a half dozen. The food here was terrible, I was craving seafood and I decided to get a seafood boil I can't remember what it was called, but it had sausage, shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, a piece of corn, a piece of bread, and side of sauce + lemon. The bread was dry along with all of the seafood. It tastes like they just boiled it and didn't put any seasoning inside of it. They did put a handful of garlic which was probably the only flavorful of the whole dish. They kept forgetting us. They forgot to give us napkins. I'm not sure what was happening that day, but it wasn't really busy and from what I understood that place is normally really packed. I won't be returning here again. read more

Whoever is frying these is not bothering to eat them. Batter is like flour dough, and the oyster itself is a grey tasteless piece of rubber. We decided to try a new spot on a cold, damp, perfect-for-a-bowl-of-steaming-gumbo night. What could be better for seafood than a restaurant shaped like a ship, we thought? The answer-we should have paid more attention to the "wreck" part of the name! Definitely not what we hoped for foodwise. The gumbo tasted and looked like it had a lot of frozen chopped veggies, no fresh, thrown in. And the chicken was an odd thin bit instead of a chunk or piece pulled from the bone. No okra either! Base was a little gummy and sticky and gray. Spice levels was good though and so were the hush puppies we ordered. Also, seemed a bit pricey for the quality, thoughtbit was a big bowl. A nice hot, crusty piece of French bread would have helped it a lot. Both items were very good although hubby believes his burger was based on a frozen patty--packed tight--but good charred flavor from a grill. Chicken salad was Cajun spiced as described and good. Buns for both sandwiches were tasty and sweet and veggies were fresh. Fries met with approval of hubby who is quite particular in that regard--frozen shoestring, but cooked well. Terrible portion size!!! This establishment was fun and the crawfish was pretty good but I'm really disappointed in my fried shrimp. They were decent. I ordered the fried shrimp basket and literally got 5 shrimp. I asked my waitress if this was the normal serving and she said yes. Honestly was excepting more. I asked for an order of just 5 more shrimp on the side and got charged $9 for them! More than the original shrimp basket itself. Was told that shrimp is $1.50 a shrimp which would mean that 5 shrimp is $7.50 I just feel like the price and portion size should be fixed for sure!!! read more

The service was friendly but the food, for the most part, was subpar. I ordered the Hot and Nasty Cajun Shrimp. The seasoning but spot on but the shrimp were tough, overcooked, and incredibly difficult to peel. They were sold at "market rates", so I was expecting fresh shrimp. That translated to about $22 thrown away. I tried to eat them but gave up less than half the way through. The server asked if they were okay, seeing as I didn't eat most of them. I told him they were either old or overcooked. I was determined to have a good meal so I ordered the key lime pie. It was average. I honestly could have had a better meal at home with grocery store shrimp and a Marie Callender frozen pie. It would have been a fraction of the cost. Anyhow, my meal was about $35 (not including tip). It was just disappointing all the way around, except for the friendly waiter.
