I was there with my family for graduation weekend, and was very disappointed. Besides our table of eight, there were maybe two other tables of 2 to 4 people. The service was terrible. I had to ask several times just to get extra napkins, we had to flag the waitress down every time we wanted a drink refill, and it took forever for the food to come out of the kitchen. My order was wrong, because I had told them to put the sauce on the side since I was afraid it would be too spicy. Nope. They loaded it on the sandwich and had to remake the whole thing. My niece never got part of her order, and my nephew couldn't even get a spoon for his soup. Food was OK, but I will never go back there again because it wasn't good enough considering the service was so bad. read more

At A&M for a meeting and stayed at the A&M Hotel. Brazos was recommended for breakfast. I'm not usually a fan of hotel breakfast, they are overpriced and nothing special. That's not the case here. Would not eat here again. Nicely decorated and clean restaurant. Food was not very good especially considering the price. Service was horrible. Our server tried their best with zero support from surrounding staff. We waited over 15 minutes before getting water. Food was cold. A table behind us had to yell for their check (literally yelled out "help" out of frustration. It was not loud in the restaurant.) It was sad to watch the staff so disconnected and clearly struggling to function well together. Hopefully, it was just due to being understaffed. My partner and I came into the restaurant after a long day--visiting college station for the first time. We had checked into the hotel for a local CrossFit completion, and we came into the restaurant both Friday and Saturday evenings. We were met with excellent service, and some phenomenally made old-fashioned cocktails. When we came in again Saturday evening, Sheila was our bartender and we discovered that she is THE cocktail connoisseur as well. We struck up conversation with Jace, who is a phenomenal young man with a great head on his shoulders. He may be in training now, but we believe he'll be training others one day! Stayed at the hotel for a couple of days and after a long day of meetings we decided to just eat at the hotel restaurant and head upstairs. First, Location is beautiful, very nicely decorated etc. In regards to food and service... I hate to be that person BUT... a total miss. The food is pricey to be such a miss! Service, as well. Husband ordered the ribeye and chose baked potato. He asked if loaded was an option since it only said, baked potato. Anyway, server said yes! Ok, Nice, cool! We get our food, potato was the size of a toddlers hand, only HALF of a potato and to top it off, it looked like a twice baked potato but just a little mushier than normal.. with huge chunks of bacon on top. Server came to ask if everything was ok, we told him the issue and he said, Ohhhh I'm sorry, shrugged and went on his way. That's it! Lol! Where is the rest of the potato!? My salad was fine, I mean, it's a salad! We ordered dessert, to go. Repeated it several times to our server. He still proceeds to bring us spoons, and much later our dessert not in to go boxes. What?!? My dessert came with strawberries and I kid y'all not, they tasted and looked fermented and I don't think they were supposed to be. It appears to me that the kitchen and the servers are very inexperienced. I get that it may be students being given an opportunity but if that's the case, charge accordingly. Waiting an hour and a half for drinks and appetizers that weren't even decent is NOT acceptable at ANY restaurant let alone one with a bill this high. Okay wow! This place is amazing! Pre Covid, my fiancé and I ate here twice for breakfast when they were doing it buffet style and remembered it being particularly good but this was may 2019. We went this past weekend and the brunch was so delicious! The cowboy Benedict was such a yummy rendition of a classic eggs Benedict. Because the sausage gravy and pepper tomato jam on top was SO good and flavorful, I did not miss the regular hollandaise! We also got the Nutella French toast, which this was also delicious! The amaretto creme really stepped the entire dish up a level. Overall, an amazing experience with the food and also great service! We had a family dinner here after graduation Saturday (whoop!). The restaurant is roomy and able to accommodate a larger group. We had 12 in our group and I believe everyone really enjoyed their meal. The only minor hiccup was them not having avocado/guacamole which was in one of our appetizers and one entree. But, we worked around that. The ambiance was pleasant as was our server. We loved not having to leave the hotel for a nice dinner. The tomahawk takes about 40 minutes to cook but it got rave reviews! read more

After a great experience for the Mothers Day Brunch two years ago, this year was a huge disappointment. The food was mediocre and not replenished promptly. The prime rib was tough and overcooked. Professional and courteous service from the staff. I suggest you use OpenTable to secure a reservation during convention and football games. I highly suggest the vegan chili and salmon. I was going to write a scathing review but when I pulled up this help page I went "oh, I probably should've checked here first." Having read the other reviews, I'm starting to think my experience wasn't that bad. But the food is undoubtedly bad. I had their "72 hour Texas wagyu brisket". Being in Texas, I thought ordering slow cooked brisket is a sure bet. Let's just say it taste less like it was cooked for 72 hours, but more like it was cooked 72 hours ago. The cobbler was equally sad and tasted like a soggy biscuit dumped in boiled canned peach. Can't do cobbler and brisket right, but have the audacity to put "proper Texas kitchen" in their name. Wow. All I can say is, thanks God for my per diem, at least I'm not paying for it. To the business owner: please don't bother replying to this comment. I won't be dining here again anyways. read more

Came here for my birthday in early December. What a great experience! Restaurant is beautiful. Very laid back but edgy contemporary feel. Staff was awesome. Yes, several appear to be students, but they were all top notch, friendly and informative. -Not sure who some of the earlier reviews were referring to, but we certainly didn't encounter anyone that wasn't very professional and courteous. I had the Honey Fried Chicken and it was as amazing as fried chicken can get, and the mashed potato tater tots were oh so good! Husband had the pork chop, one son had salmon and other son had tortilla soup with brisket tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious! Best yet was the Prickly Pear Margarita served table side and made with nitrogen. Sort of like having a college chemistry class at your table, and the young woman who prepared it was delightful. Apparently nitrogen creates the most perfect margarita you'll ever have. We'll definitely be back! read more

Huge disappointment. I ordered the smoked pork chop. When I smoke any type of pork it is tasty and tender. Theirs was the toughest, most bland pork chop I have ever had. My wife's fried chicken was sweet and heavily spiced with cayenne pepper. The menu made no mention of it being spicy. The best part of our meal was the salad. Really disappointed since this is supposed to be an upscale restaurant, the prices certainly indicate that. Texas A&M deserves better, especially in such a beautiful setting. We were very disappointed by our first (and probably only) visit to this restaurant. I ordered the smoked pork chop and hoped for a delicious experience based on the menu description. When I smoke any type of pork, it comes out tender and tasty. Their pork chop was the toughest, most bland pork chop I have ever had. Sad to say that the salad was the best part of my meal. My wife wanted something simple, so she ordered the fried chicken. It looked great, but when she bit into it she almost gagged. It was seasoned heavily with cayenne pepper, but the menu made no reference to it being spicy. I really expected more for such a restaurant that claims to be upscale. The prices would suggest the same. Former students deserve more of a restaurant that is located on campus in such a beautiful facility. I would never take a potential donor to this restaurant other than for a drink. The food is definitely subpar compared to many of our local low priced restaurants. We were in last week for 41's burial. I was treated so nicely by Phil ( i was just looking for a bathroom) i decided to make reservations for the 4 of us firefighters after the ceremony. We were seated in a private area by the window! Gloria quickly greeted us and took our cocktail order. Sydney followed up with our meal which everybody loves. I got the chicken sliders which I highly recommend, the rest of the party got the burger which they enjoyed. What a great example of team work from the greeting, to the service and the great food provided by the kitchen. Keep in mind just a few hundred feet away they were burying a President. We came here to celebrate a family member receiving their Aggie Ring and by the end of the dinner we were laughing at how bad each course was. After finishing the appetizer and forcing ourselves to swallow to main dish, someone at our table literally said "Surely they can't ruin dessert," and to our surprise, they did. We had an excellent dinner!! The braised short rib was absolutely delicious and the sides of mashed Boursin potatoes and roasted carrots were great! My husband had a Caesar salad (3 times he told me it was really good) and the roasted chicken with green beans which I also tried and loved. The portions were quite large, so we felt we got our money's worth on this great meal. The service was also very good - Luis was very attentive and even got the chef's input for us on gluten-free options. I've been here twice now - and I will say for the price point, it's just average with fancy plating. Drinks are expensive and take too long to get because they apparently have to wait for the same upstairs bar to make the restaurant drinks. Then our $12 drinks came in plastic cups while the gentleman at our same table got his whiskey in a crystal highball (on the same tray). My salmon filet was so dry with no sauce it was almost jerky (I picked it up whole to show my daughter). The deep fried risotto ball it came with also so dry it was barely inedible. I drank 4 glasses of water (everyone else's water bc service is also slow). Everyone else's dish was okay - just not great nor left you excited to return. I expect better for the price and I don't mind paying for good food (occasionally). I always give a 2nd chance, but will not be returning. They're depending on the Kyle field view and the TAMU in the name of the hotel to carry them and it's not working. read more

I hate writing this review - I so want to really like and support this restaurant. We've been here twice - once in June and this past weekend for A&M graduation. Both times, the food has been really good (that's why I gave it 2 stars). Our first time, the service was really good. We had an attentive server who checked back in with us frequently and was friendly and pleasant. The second time, we only saw our server three times - once to take drink/appetizer orders, once to take entree orders, and then to deliver our bill. Their service is different in that salads are brought with the entree (this was done both times we went). The problem I have with that is there are a lot of plates on the table and the entree gets cold if you eat your salad first. The servers also have to go upstairs to the bar to get the drink orders. Whatever the system/order is, it needs improvement - we waited at least 30 minutes to get our drinks. The timing of ordering/eating our appetizers and then ordering the entrees was fine, but it was at least an hour before we got our entrees. We were there to celebrate our daughter's graduation, and heard the server at the next table (who were there for the same reason) say the graduate got a free drink. Our server never mentioned that and we had to ask about it. My husband asked to speak to the manager three times, and the manager NEVER came to our table. Our server said they didn't expect to be so busy - I find that hard to believe when they KNOW it's a graduation weekend, and I know from when I made reservations that they were expecting some larger parties. We were very willing to cut them some slack for possibly being understaffed since so many restaurants are dealing with that. But the odd service with the salads/entrees, the length of time everything took with no apologies or explanations, the way drinks are handled, and the fact that the manager never came to talk to us means we will not be back (and if the manager was busy because they were short staffed, someone just needed to tell us! We were completely ignored). It's not as nice, but going up to the bar is probably better. read more

We had our family Thanksgiving meal there today, and collectively we decided it was "good", not great but a bit better than ok. First, the salad bar was great. Everything was fresh, and appealing. After that, it was kind of hit and miss. I found the normal items expected for the day were done pretty well, but were held in chaffing dishes that did not do a very good job of holding temp. The mashed potatoes were good, but were cold by the time I made it to the table. This was the same for the green beans and the stuffing. The biggest miss for the day was the prime rib... undercooked, tough as he77, and an overall mess. The thing about the prime however kind of summed up every problem with the meal... someone is putting a lot of effort into speed, which absolutely does not work with many foods. This issue was repeated with the house pickles, and okra... bad process, and not enough time. Not unlike the prime rib which was difficult to chew, the okra was so tough I could not bite it. As I've looked at some of the other reviews, it is easy to see why they can be all over the place, as the Brazos seems to either not have consistent standards or have no one to enforce them. The staff was ok, obviously lacked experience, but this was fine. Frankly I thought they did pretty well overall, just lacked (wait for it), any real standards... but they were VERY polite and attentive. I think this place has potential, but... if "good" is the highest goal, no one will care. read more
