Absolutely amazing! We had my son's A&M graduation lunch there. They were able to accommodate my very restricted diet and make it taste wonderful. I had a chicken breast and broccoli sautéed in olive oil with onion and garlic. It was exactly what I needed and perfectly cooked. We met up with a family member who I had not seen in a long while for lunch at Frittella. The atmosphere was quiet and well suited to a nice visit. The place is classically decorated and clean. First, to me, the sign of a great restaurant is an owner or manager who comes by the table, to see how their guests are doing. The owner, Tracy, did just that, asking how everything was and visiting for a short time. That was appreciated. For our meal, we had bread sticks with parm, Lasagna, Manicotti and Angel hair pasta. It was a very nice meal with loved ones that we enjoyed very much. Everything was really good and at a fair price. What strikes me the most about Fritella is not just the food, but the family feel. While we were there, a group of ladies showed up for lunch, then proceeded to enjoy a game of bridge with their friends. This is exactly what I think of, when I think of Frittella. A group of us were in town for a conference. The majority wanted Italian so we came here. Place looked ok a little rustic from the inside but nice. We sat at a large table area. I got the menu and ordered a build you own pizza. Ordered pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, and mushrooms. Server appeared a little nervous it didnt help that some of the party was joking with her and carrying on amongst themselves. But she was good. She brought my pizza a short time later. Looked like the placed the pepperoni on top of all the toppings so they hadn't melted into the cheese like all the other toppings. Already red flags. Pizza was piping hot which is a good sign. When I went to get a slice all the toppings slid off not good! Anyways I ate it but extremely mid pizza at best. I mean it looked great! One of the other guys ordered a build your own pizza and on pizza you could have up to 7 toppings I believe so he ordered all his toppings and asked to have triple pepperoni as well as the other 3 toppings. We joked that they were only gonna give him 3 more pepperoni. I should have gone to play the lottery cause when his pizza came out it looked like mine plus 3 extra pepperonis lmfao I tried the fired calamari it was good but had no flavor at all! And the little piece of lemon was under all the calamari. On the plus side they do give you a good portion of calamari to the point if my friend who ordered it went outside to make a call and we ate a hood amount he came back and said we could eat some and he never noticed that we had eaten a bunch already lol. Visited Frittella during a visit to Bryan/College Station and was pleasantly surprised. I was a big fan of the Chicken Puttanesca dish, very savory with that tomato sauce packed with olives, capers, mushrooms and garlic. Maybe I was too hungry but it honestly is one of my favorite Italian dishes I've tried and belongs in the "clean plate club" for me. The pasta itself with marinara was just okay, but it worked well with the chicken dish. The soup I ordered was a miss (minestrone) it didn't feel like it was fresh and more like a canned soup feel. We came on a late Saturday lunch, and the restaurant was fairly empty. The service was friendly, the waitress even moved some tables allowing our entire group to sit together. The restaurant has a bit of dated decor and lighting. Decent parking lot and there's a drive-thru option as well. The food was pretty good overall, surprising for me and I'd even rank it above several Italian spots I've been to in Houston. read more

I really wanted to like this place. But sadly it was a disappointment. We tried many items on the menu. Calamari was bland just like other reviews, the pizza had way to much sauce which cause the toppings had to slide off,the shrimp tasted old, the lasagna was ok. We were sat right across from the pick up window which made for a loud dinner even tho the place was nearly empty. The fountain drink dispenser did not add a charming affect to our dinner as well. Came here for the first time with my family. We ordered: Spinach Artichoke Dip w/ Breadsticks: a little bland, but delicious. More spinach than artichoke. The breadsticks has a softer texture and paired with the dip. Pasta Carbonara: tasted ok, nothing special about it. Lasagna/Cannelloni Combination: lasagna was very delicious. Probably one of the best that I've ever tasted in my life. The Cannelloni was my first and it too, was very flavorful. Margherita Pizza: I was pretty bummed that it was a thin crust instead of those puffy pizzas. The cheese, sauce, and toppings slipped right off the crust and was very messy to eat so a fork was definitely needed. It does have an awesome flavor though. Chicken Piccata: more lemony than what I'm used to, but still very delicious. Cannoli: I wasn't a fan of cannolis, but this one was pretty damn delicious. Overall, food was a bit bland, but nothing a little salt and/or Parmesan cheese can't fix. I would definitely come back to try other popular dishes. Prices are decent for the portion you get. Our waitress, Mia was very friendly and helpful. She recommended all the popular dishes. Lots of tables to dine at and lots of parking. Brought my son and his girlfriend here for something different. I read reviews about their pasta and that didn't disappoint. Absolutely loved the manicotti. However there was nothing else. No bread unless we ordered the appetizer. Which hands down love their take on garlic bread. No salad offered. That was strange just to get 2 pieces of manicotti. Son says the chicken parm was good (I don't eat chicken, so I take his word) his girlfriend however asked for a Caesar Salad with chicken. They brought over a small dish with unseasoned chicken and left. We asked for the salad and the waiter said she could make it herself at the salad bar. This was never explained to us. Of course there was only our table and one other at 3 in the afternoon and it's a strange time of day. Maybe they just wasn't expecting such a busy time. Fritters Italian Cafe was a very middle of the road experience for my husband and I. The venue itself is a bit confusing. Harsh white lighting with visible drink dispenser in the front half made it feel a bit cafeteria like. We were here for a date night without the kids, so we requested to sit in the dimmer lit dining room behind. Unfortunately, neither of us enjoyed our mixed drinks. Mine tasted too strongly of liqueur and I decided to kindly request it be sent back. My chicken dish was fine. The sauce was a bit of a watery tomato flavor and I enjoyed the olives. My fettuccine was run of the mill. I think fresh ground pepper and Parmesan could have elevated it a little and it was severely missing salt. My husband's eggplant parm was quite soggy. However, we were disappointed in the garlic bread the most. It was described as fresh bread loaded with fresh garlic. As pictured, I would compare it to the Texas Brand toast you can buy in the freezer section. We did eat all of our food as we were starving when we arrived, and we don't believe in letting food go to waste, but we decided to venture elsewhere for dessert. Our server was mostly transactional. The food has always been good. The service has always been great. Ambiance is what you want when you think Italian Food. The owner checks in with every table. I recently read where someone said the number of Stars was not related to the numbe of $$$. So you could have a $ restaurant with 5 Stars, or you could have a $$$$ restaurant that only rates 2 stars. That being said, in it's price point, Frittella definitely rates 5 stars from me. I don't live there, and don't get to go often. When I am in town, it always gets serious consideration. read more

Went there on the busy A &M big game...had a difficult time finding someone to take our reservation. When we pulled up (Uber). There were maybe 2 cars in the lot. Nobody in the restaurant and 2 tables in the bar. The hostess was just sitting there doing needlework, the started brushing her hair and then pulled out a pick and started cleaning her teeth!! The waitress was sweet, said the dinner rolls would be out soon but never came. The water came from a soda fountain as well as the ice when it clunked and dropped out of the machine. As we looked around it was clear that this was an old Taco Bell!! The food was mediocre and we watched the staff taking about the customers that have recently came in and never tipped them and talked trash about them. Coming from the restaurant business (owning 2). A quiet pleasant location that can sit small and large parties. We had a group of 5 and sat in a wrap around booth with enough space to keep our children from fighting :) We got the calamari, spaghetti and meatballs, manicotti, and the chicken parm with fettuccine and meat sauce. Ok. This place is amazing! The attention to detail of their waiters and waitresses is a result of excellent coaching and training. My only recommendation is to teach the staff to make recommendations. They could easily upsell. With food that good, the upselling would be appreciated. I didn't feel pressured, but almost wish I was. However, the service was incredible. What I normally don't like about Italian restaurants is that the pasta claims to be fresh, but cuts and tastes like store bought. Not here! Their fettuccine was soft and buttery, almost melts in your mouth. It's highly complimented by the sweet marinara that is light and delightful. The thin spaghetti was the same. I will always get the fettuccine because I want more noodle when it's that amazing! My son hates pasta, but after I forced him to try a fettuccine noodle, he kept going back to my plate. The calamari wasn't over cooked which made it tender and delightful. Great breading. Amazing sauce with it! The manicotti was in a cream Alfredo sauce that really took you back. It's not store bought! I didn't get the seafood trio because those are hit or miss and I didn't want to be disappointed. But after that, it's a must try when we return. What a gem. Great place for friends, family or a romantic get away from the kids. If you've not been, you need to. We had Sunday lunch at 12:30 and seated immediately. First, I seldom leave a negative review as I love to make positive comments, but WHY I didn't listen to the review I read about the thin, dry tasteless chicken piccata I don't know! It's a favorite of my husbands and he can make it WAY better than what I had. He ordered the regular lasagna and it was nothing special just "meh" no flavor really though I did prefer eating some of his than my disappointing meal. My mother had the shrimp scampi she liked it though I know she doesn't like any spicy foods so not sure how the flavor was on that. Service was quick and efficient. The food was beyond what should be expected from a small Texas "country" city that gives a home to a piece of Italy. Having had authentic Italian food in the fantastic city of Milan itself, I'd say Frittella's Italian Cafe is the closest thing to the taste of Italy in all of Bryan/College station. I was recommended the lasagna and manicotti along with a fine red wine and their lovely breadsticks which were fantastic. I'm looking forward to coming back these next few days in my stay here to try some new recommendations. read more
