I came here from out of town for my niece's wedding reception, and arrived two hours late. I strolled into the well-packed distillery, down a very nicely kept downtown type of area, and upon rolling to the back looking around, an employee noticed me and asked if I was with the wedding party. I'm in a powered wheelchair and the employee, Bobby, was nice enough to take me up a classy freight elevator to the second floor, where the reception was being held. It was a nice area, furnished with a lot of wood and lights. The reception had set up a nice buffet, and 200 drink tokens had been set aside for guests, although by the time I got there they had been used up. My girlfriend and I got a gin & tonic, and a vodka tonic, for about 11$ each, with both the gin, vodka, and tonics being brewed in house. They were very tasty, although maybe not 11$-tasty. Overall it was a lovely location for a wedding reception, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the drinks were good if just a tad pricey. read more

Hush and whisper distilling, honestly such a gem in the College station area. When you walk into this distillery, it feels like you've been transported into a modern futuristic brewery. The bartenders are so knowledgeable they can walk you through the entire menu. They will let you do a little tastings. The distillery also does tours during the day, but I guarantee you the bartenders here can help you find a drink that you will like and they will also walk you through mock tails if you are alcohol free. Endless amounts of seating are available for large groups, small groups. This is so perfect for a birthday party graduation date night a fun thing to do during the day if you're going to take a tour. We stopped by Hush & Whisper during our stay in Bryan and were really impressed. The space is beautiful, and the hosts made us feel right at home. While the whiskey wasn't quite my taste (still young at just 2 years) the gin was lovely and well-balanced, not too heavy on the juniper. Neat to have something like this in downtown Bryan. I don't care for liquor but my friends do and it's a really cool space. We went for the barrel tasting for their one year (barreling) mark. They had regular and rye whiskey. It was educational but still a little spicy for me They have cool cocktails at the bar, cool vibes and neat merch. I hope they stick around for a while. It looks like it used to be an old Woolworth or JC Penny's. The inside now reminds of a posh hotel lobby. There is a full service bar with their spirits. There is a gift shop. I believe you can take. Tour but that wasn't something I was interested in. They don't have bourbon yet but they have "white lightening" or "white dog" that they are calling white bourbon, which is to say an unaged bourbon. Wow! Stumbled across this while in town for a youth soccer tournament. Was just walking by, and started looking in the windows. Young man opens the door and starts talking to us about the establishment. Told us enough to get our interest, and waves us inside for more. Went through the menu and talked about what they do, and how long they have been there. Absolutely beautiful place. Wide open and airy; high ceilings. Just walked around first, not really thinking about drinking that night. Nice area of swag, open seating with a combination of couches and chairs/tables. Separate area of swag. So ended up at the bar talking with two bartenders. Very helpful, kind, and energetic. Ended up trying to vodka first, as a martini. Solid. Second time I went for a cherry blossom fizz. Both very good. Ended up finding the stairs and sitting at a couch. Just chatted, sipped, and enjoyed the place. So nice, clean, and inviting. So surprising for a place that I didn't know existed. What an awesome place! Full of sophistication and charm, true to the "renewed" nature of downtown Bryan. Looks more like a spot you'd find in downtown Austin, Dallas or Fort Worth, but oh how glad we are that it's in Bryan! The location is an old J C Penney store (from the earliest days, aka pre-mall) and features a beautiful staircase leading upstairs to another seating area overlooking the downstairs area and a couple of small, more intimate rooms in back. The gleaming brass and copper distilling equipment is the centerpiece of the main floor. There are coffee tables, velvet chairs and plush sofas configured into a variety of seating areas. Such a great spot to meet up for a drink. Try a Vodka Smash-lemon, simple syrup, mint and Vodka. Excellent! My go-to after trying almost everything on the cocktail menu. There are no servers; amble up to the bar and get it yourself. But there are plenty of great bartenders to help you choose and make it delicious. read more

I am seriously impressed by this distillery. The establishment looks fantastic, and the staff is quick to point out details that help make Hush & Whisper memorable. The expansive two-story lounge concept is well-executed: there a variety of tables that are perfect for a date night or small groups, and the deceptively large upstairs loft can accommodate groups of various sizes. You can do tastings of their grain-to-glass spirits (their copper column still is on proud display), but Hush & Whisper's bartenders are top-notch too. We let the staff recommend a handful of reasonably priced signature cocktails (the Night Watchman & Cherry Blossom Fizz were our favorite), and we were pleased to hear that most of the bar mixers were made in-house. To top it all off, Caleb's tour gave us a better appreciation for everything they're working on here in Bryan (we even got to sign our name on one of the bourbon barrels). I can't wait to come back and try some of the whiskey that they are currently aging! read more

Well worth the wait! We've been looking for a good cocktail since moving to BCS & what I've noticed around town is that most places make their drinks a bit on the sweet side, with a little too much of one flavor or liquor over the others. This distillery takes a lot of pride in their cocktails - with bartenders taking care to measure and serve something well balanced. We tried their holiday cocktail (a fig drink) and a mule. Both were delicious! They primarily distill/serve clear liquors - gin, vodka and a white whiskey. To our surprise, it's reasonably priced with cocktails between $10-13 - coming off a trip to vegas where we paid $20+ for a basic G&T, this was amazing. I didn't see any mocktail options but 1) i didn't really look for them and 2) it seems like they could whip one up! We came into Hush and Whisper distillery and decided to try the tasting, our liquor connoisseur Daniel Garcia did an amazing job showing us about the three different types of liquor they sell there. He gave us a rundown of all of the flavor profiles as well as how the drinks are made and their distilling processes. I highly recommend coming in with friends so you can debate with each other the flavor profiles you all taste as the four of us had a majorly different experience with each liquor. Daniel welcomed us as we walked in the beautiful old building in downtown Bryan, TX. It has a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. He began the tour with the historical facts about the building and quickly showed us the fermentation room. He was gracious to answer all our uneducated questions and showed us each process. We had the tasting at a beautiful table while he explained the process of tasting. The tour was almost an hour and really educational. Had a GREAT after noon at Hush and Whisper Distilling. Took a tour and had a tasting. Our guide Stu was awesome. He did a great job explaining the history of the location and the name. Once we went in back for the tour, he explained the parts and process clearly and in terms we, as non-distillers, could understand. He then started our tasting, clearly explaining the different mashes we sampled. We finished our tasting with Anthony. He explained the difference between their Gin and Vodka very well. Then we had a couple of cocktails that were amazing. I had the Whispering Old Fashion, and as someone who prefers drinking my drinks straight, I was amazed. Fantastic experience-- it's as as though downtown Bryan is personified as the big city when you step in here! My girl friend and I stopped in for a quick happy hour around 4. The place filled up around us as we enjoyed two of the cocktails recommended by the bartender-- mine was a house curated Ginger Gimlet (so smooth) and my friend chose the beautiful rose-colored Whiskey Smash garnished with a sprig of thyme. Music level was perfect, ambiance is on par, and friendly staff. Textures upon colors upon textures, moody lighting as the sun set, and of course the impressive still piping itself is gorgeous. This place is very warm and inviting. I love the distillery equipment on display. My wife and I met another couple for drinks and ended up spending hours. We ordered a tasting which involved a distilled spirits expert teaching us about the history of distilling and specifics of the various products we tasted. Their gin is award winning but my favorites were the vodka and rye whiskey. These guys have a full menu of drinks and the bartenders put on a show as they make the drink of your choice. We came in from Houston to see family and decided to give Hush and Whisper a try. The inside is very quaint and feels like a nice hotel lobby. We were greeted by exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable staff who told us about the spirits offered. The drinks are modestly priced ($12) and well worth it based on the ingredients and effort put into each drink. Not only are the spirits made in house, but many of the mixers and syrups are as well. The ingredients were fresh and a lot of care is put into each order. It would be a great place to take friends and family or to visit for a pre dinner cocktail. Needless to say we will be back the next time we visit Bryan/College Station! Spirits offered: gin, vodka, and "white whiskey" (which is essentially unaged whiskey).
