Brunch review: 5/5 stars: excellent flavors and generous portions and great service. Brunch is the way to go! I have always had leftovers too. Some of the best brunch I have ever had! Dinner review: 4/5 stairs: ordered the apple salad to split for an appetizer, nice dressing and generous size and the candied walnuts were delicious. The complimentary bread and olive oil/olive dip was good. There's a split charge for anything you split, including a salad as an appetizer. However, the spot fee is worth it because it's plenty of food! We ordered the steak special of the day- the glaze was good- however the steak was over cooked- it was more like medium instead of medium rare like we ordered. The steak wasn't as tender as I would have expected for $42 and not as flavorful. I know it's not classified as a steak house but I think I just expected more. Generous portions of mashed potatoes that we took some home. Dessert was rich but sadly Christopher's doesn't do a free dessert for your anniversary- unlike maddens who gave us free generous dessert last year. It was a good meal but not for the price. Our service was excellent so no complaints there! I would just recommend going back for the brunch rather than dinner. This was our fourth or fifth visit to Christopher's and and once again I was disappointed. In all fairness, two of the three other members of our party had the "Shrimp Three Ways" and "Blue Corn Crusted Redfish" and said their food was great. One other said she wanted a really good filet, but they don't have that on the menu - one is topped with crawfish over creamed spinach and the other with bleu cheese and a cognac sauce. While one might normally ask for them to leave the "extras" off but the menu had a statement at the top stating that they were unable to accommodate changes or substitutions. The good news was the steak came out medium rare as order. My meal was another story. I ordered the "French Onion Soup" based upon the reviews. The reviews were correct, it was very good and the goat cheese crouton was well imagined! The problem? Maybe a 6 to 8 oz. serving in what must have been a relatively cold 48 oz. (?) bowl. I had to ask for a spoon so it cooled further. This was followed by the "Osso Buco", which generally love. My first taste was so tainted with scorched garlic that I apparently made a face. My wife asked if there was a problem but I said no so as not to disturb our guests. The meat fell off the bone but was extremely dry - not the juicy succulence one expects from Osso Buco. I gave up and moved to the Papperdelli, which was dry, cold, and stuck together. Not good so I stirred it around the plate and pushed it away for pick-up. In short, based on my meal, this was a one or two star experience. It was very expensive ($20 for a glass of wine, $11 for soup, and $35 for entree), I gave it four stars because I was the only one one with an issue, and bec of the circumstances I did not say anything or allow them to fix it. read more

The food was amazing as always - I had the fondue for the first time and it was very tasty! I had the blueberry mojito special and it was good, not too sweet but sweeter than a normal mojito. The go-to restaurant in College Station. I have never had a bad meal there. Everything on the menu is excellent. I return frequently, however, to the Christopher's filet--a great tenderloin filet over crème spinach, in an irresistible dark sauce, and topped with crawfish. Highly recommended. read more

This was my first visit, and it was outstanding. We went for the brunch and the menu is great, a lot of variety. We started we the beignets, which came out to be devine. I could honestly just have the beignets and go home very happy. My wife tried the creamy tomato soup, and it was also very good. For our entrees, I had the eggs Benedict with beef tenderloin and spinach. I have never had a version of the Benedicts with beef tenderloin, and they were amazing. My wife had the snapper, which was great. My stepdaughter had the seafood stuffed salmon, that was outstanding. My 5 year old daughter had the penne pasta with butter and parmesan cheese, and that was outstanding as well. You can tell the ingredients used were of great quality. The chef and cooking staff pay great attention to detail and presentation. Then, we were surprised with the dessert tray. They have a great selection. We went with the creme brûlée, and it did not disappoint. It was great. Our overall experience was great. This restaurant has a great ambiance and outstanding service. Traveling to College Station doesn't give you much options for high class restaurants. I have dined at a variety of restaurants there, but finally I found a unique 5 star restaurant to enjoy. The service was wonderful and the food was marvelous. I truly enjoyed myself as well as my guests. It was so good that my spouse requested this to be the restaurant of choice whenever we seek a restaurant for a special occasion at College Station. I hope next time to meet the owner and thank him personally for such a magnificent experience. Our server, Jeremy, was spot on with details about the menu, cocktails and wine. You must try the almond crusted brie. Being a member of the National Press Club of Washington DC and traveling throughout the United States, it was nice to feel at home again at a restaurant that met my qualifications. Our cousin have raved about this place for quiet some time. They live in BCS area and we live in Bastrop. We finally had the time to try this place, it was recently in the list of the most romantic restaurant in USA. It was a Sunday 5:30 we walked in and the Hallway is full of Certificate of Excellence from various institutions either local, or national maybe some international. The manager greeted us and checked us in. Seated us in a table that has booth seating. It was okay we prefer a more bright area than where we at, plus it was too cold for me. So we asked to be moved. They accommodated us. My husband asked as long as the same server which I think was a mistake. Since the section that we moved into is not his, that would have been nice to know. We had cocktails, italian margarita and blackberry martini which was recommended by our server awesome! Starter bread was good, the olive tapenade was tasty, wishing it had some more olive oil. We had Crabcake, and Cajun Fondue it was delicious and flavorful. Crabcake was full of crabmeat and flavor, plating was a bit of 80s style. Nevertheless the taste was good. The Fondue was good a bit on the spicy side which we do not mind. Husband ordered the Zihuateneo Snapper, we are a big fan of Shawshank Redemption , we totally ordered it cause of that but it was delicious. Ordered Lamb Chops medium. It came out Medium Well, a little pink in the middle instead of through out and it was a bit rubbery. So I simply asked the server, I would like mine to be medium please, she said no problem. It came out 10minutes later which by then my husband was done eating. But what's astonishing is when I cut in the middle it was again Medium Well sent it back and said nevermind, what is more astonishing is the manager came back and cut my lamb chops in half and tried to argue with me over it was a medium. I simply said its not medium enough for me I am sorry. Nevertheless my husband felt bad so he paid for it and took it home so our dog could have a midnight snack. We ordered desserts Berry Napoleon and Creme Brûlée. Napoleon was okay, Creme Brûlée has some flavor I cannot fathom. Had coffee with our desserts when I asked for a refill she refilled my cup but never my other half. Overall prolly won't be back, service was lacking with the price point. Has a great dinner celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. Service was great. We ordered the Brie, bread selection, and the meatball appetizers. Brie was great, meatball was ok, just a little bland. Bread great, just not sure why they charged for it? For the entrees, I ordered the prime New York au pouve with lobster Mac and Brussels sprouts. All good but my favorite was the lobster Mac. Had a great lobster flavor unlike any other I have had. Wife had the filet, cream spinach, bearnaise, and fried crawfish. All also very good. We've been to some of the finest restaurants in Houston and I can tell you, none of them compare to Christopher's. This is my immediate new favorite place. The home the restaurant is homed in is beautiful and the decor exudes a warm, embracing atmosphere. Quietly romantic, the room we were in was subtly elegant with a southern charm. The waitstaff is super attentive and knows their wine and menu backwards and forwards. My husband had the lamp chops and I enjoyed the filet. They were prepared with care and the both the presentations and taste were near perfection. A large dessert offering found us trying the peach cobbler cheesecake. We had dinner here after a very long ring day at College Station. I was gladly surprised with everything... the settings, the service, the food... everything. I received a specific request to return to this establishment and give it a second go and I wish I had not...The lesson from the first visit should have been enough. The "spoon drop crab cake" was so over cooked that I'm surprised it did not set off the smoke detectors. The Caesar Carbonara was again horrible, the blue filet...woefully overcooked again. This time we did not even opt for desert. The entire experience is further worsened by the service which started out slow and sub-par and degraded to rude and ornery. I guess I shouldn't be, but I'm always a bit surprised when I encounter world-class cuisine in a place I'm not expecting it. Nothing against College Station at all -- but Christopher's World Grille offers such tantalizing delights and service, I haven't had anything any better in Chicago or NYC! When you first enter in to the main hallway you are greeted with awards hanging on the wall from all over--NY, Paris etc... and get the sense Christopher Lampo is the real deal. Having worked around the world and previously the Houstonian, he brings a lot of experience to bear--and good help as well, with 5 other world-class chefs working along side him. I was there with my fiancee Lainey and her family celebrating our engagement and had, once again, a splendid time! Started out in the bar, which is small but very elegant in a dark, woody type of way, having tastes of "sweet tea vodka" as well as my standard vodka/coke. We hadn't made a reservation, but it took all of about 8 minutes to have our table ready. We started with a bottle of Sauverain Cabernet from Alexander Valley, CA (near Sonoma) along with breaded & seasoned oysters on the 1/2 shell that tasted like we should be much closer to the ocean than we are. The ceasar salad was quite good, though not the best I've had. However the main course was incredible. Both my future father-in-law and I ordered the surf and turf special featuring a full 1/2 lobster, fully prepared with myriad seasonings and a 4-oz filet that I didn't need a knife for. They had already pulled all the meat from the lobster and re-filled the shell with the meat/breading/seasoning making it very simple to eat (not that it's that difficult anyway...). Coffee and fruit/ice cream/praline shell dessert, that I can't remember the name of, was also delectable. The ambiance is relaxing and slightly "jazzy" with each of the rooms decorated individually; the service is nearly impeccable, the food is to die for. A classy joint for a small college town. My parents have lived in the BCS area for almost 6 years now and we haven't been to any eating establishment in this town that requires more than our trusty t-shirts and jeans. So walking in here I was BLOWN AWAY. Just so we're on the same page, I've been to nice restaurants before but I would never expect this adorably decorated New Orleans style establishment in BRYAN of all places! We came to Christopher's for Sunday brunch and it did not disappoint. As an avid Sunday-bruncher, I have a few requirements for a brunch place to receive my stamp of approval: - Good coffee (and other espresso drinks) - BREAKFAST POTATOES - Hearty portions - Cute ambience As you can tell by my pictures I posted... It clearly met all my standards. Lots of espresso drinks (and alcoholic), potatoes included with all brunch items, good portions that left all the men in my family with full bellies (they are somehow ALWAYS hungry), and lastly, Christopher's felt so inviting - the kind of place you could sit and chat with your friends for hours. Of course, food quality was impeccable. We ordered: Shrimp and Crawfish Fondue Beignets Eggs Benedict Crepes Newburg Johnny's Sunday Pasta Bananas Foster French Toast Chicken and Waffles My personal favorite was actually the crepes! It's stuffed with shrimp, crab, mushrooms and spinach and it had this amazing shrimp sherry sauce. Overall really unique and something special! My brother said his Chicken and Waffles were "ok" and he wouldn't order it again. But everyone else was happy with their food! I also HIGHLY recommend (as others have said in their reviews) the shrimp and crawfish fondue. MMMMMM so worth it. They keep the seafood in big pieces so that you get a really good bite and you can taste all of it. The beignets are also amazing. Served warm and you get a big bowl for just $6! (See pic attached) Lastly, the desserts. I wasn't as blown away by the desserts as others seemed to be (would knock off half a star if I could).. Maybe because I didn't order the right ones? We had the creme brulee, the Napoleon, and a flourless chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was my least fave (too eggy and dry) and the creme brulee was just OK. The Napoleon, however, was really yummy and I would totally order that again. And again. And again. It's perfectly sweet with a delicious cream that's light and pairs well against the crispiness of their thin cookies. Highly recommend the Napoleon! Amazing experience. If you're feeling lavish/ having money to blow and wanting to delight your taste buds, here is the place to go. Super fancy, definitely pricy, but very high quality food with exquisite taste. The first time I went was for Valentine's Day and my boyfriend got the prime steak while I got a shrimp Alfredo substituted with chicken (charged extra $). The second time we came here was for my birthday and we decided to be more daring with our selection. He got a different steak cut (I forgot what it was called) while I got the veal with Parmesan potato gnocchi. It was really good but I don't think I would order my dish again. The sauce is a red brownish sauce made with red wine. It almost tasted like a BBQ wine sauce. I was somewhat disappointed with the gnocchi since it wasn't as chewy as I wished. It was more on the soft side like pebbles of mashed potatoes. But I think that's just a personal preference. I thought they were gonna give me the dessert as complementary for my birthday considering their presentation of the dessert menu was more of an offering than a suggestion. After a successful job interview my boyfriend suggested meeting me here for lunch. Not knowing anything about the place I went in with zero expectations. However, no matter what I could have expected, they would have topped it. First off, the decor is amazing. It is a renovated old house with a different persona in each room. The staff is fantastic as well, incredibly attentive, and nice about the fact that we came in close to their midday closing time. We started with the Almond Baked Brie; fantastic. A bloody mary was split between us, not as spicy as they can be but still not bad. I got the Salmon Oscar and my boyfriend got the Beef Tenderloin Enchiladas. Both were amazing, the salmon was cooked to perfection and the sweet potatoes on the side were different than what I usually expect but in a hard to explain, distinctly different, but good kind of way. The enchiladas were great as well, I was able to steal a bite at my own risk. When we were both incredibly stuffed the waiter brought out the dessert tray. I almost cried with happiness as he explained what each one was and said to choose any. I got the toffee cake with bailey's ice cream. Both parts were great individually (I don't recommend combining them because the bailey's overpowers the subtle toffee taste of the cake), but I 100% recommend this dessert.
