Blackened Yellowfin Tuna, asparagus, Honey Glazed Carrots
Beth S.

Dinner tonight was the best meal of our week-long vacation! We love to eat at local restaurants where there's a good chance we might get to try something special and Christopher's Eats did not disappoint. First, the restaurant has a cool vibe and the people are nice. You get the feeling that the people coming and going know what they're getting when they walk in and it's what keeps them coming back. My seared tuna steak with mango salsa, carrots, and asparagus was perfectly prepared and far better than what you'd get at a chain restaurant. I forgot to mention the fries with pimento cheese as an appetizer... They were the best fries I think I've ever had. For dessert, if there's something to know about Christopher, it's that his scratch-made cheesecakes are amazing. Tonight's special was key lime cheesecake. No. Regrets. If I could stick around longer; I'd like to work my way through everything on the menu. Great options for kids too! A corndog with applesauce hit the spot. If you're in the area and haven't eaten here yet, you're missing out!

House salad with ginger wasabi dressing.

Arrived at 8:00 p.m. on a Friday night. Our entrees, appetizers, and drinks arrived in about 10 minutes. Not necessarily in that order. I ordered the meatloaf with sweet potato wedges and Brussels sprouts. The meatloaf was a bit on the anemic side. Imagine what you might be served at an upscale French restaurant and that is about the portion of the meatloaf, roughly the size of a tennis ball. It was very moist and quite good as were the sides. The sweet potato wedges were basically sweet potato fries with the skins on and maybe six in total. Again, fewer than expected. The house salad was great. Not just romaine with carrot shavings. It had mixed greens, including spinach, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The dressings are all made in house. Our server was attentive and fantastic. Brought refills before needing them or asking. The ambiance is definitely higher class but the dress is casual. I would definitely return.

Spinach artichoke dip & chips.

As an "out of towner" who is checking out the "local" eats instead of big chains, I was not impressed here. I'll say our waitress was friendly, and our drinks never got empty because she sat a fancy glass bottle of our drink on our table so that we could refill our drinks. It was just my husband and I. Our appetizer came out quickly (spinach artichoke dip) and it was delicious. The chips had a seasoning on them that were really delicious. Our food took forever to come out though. They weren't busy, so it was confusing. We ordered a chicken sandwich and a burger. The restaurant is located in a corner of a little strip mall, the ambiance is low lighting with little candles on your table. They had a beautiful Christmas tree in the main area downstairs. Overall, it was good but not somewhere I'd make sure to tell people to rush to if they're in the area.

Gouda Mac & Cheese, Truffle Fries and Meatloaf

Casual pub vibe with great bar service. Meatloaf with Gouda Mac & Cheese were filling/delicious. The truffle fries weren't crispy and the seasoning was powdery/chalky. Kitchen didn't bring our meals out together. So this went from a 5 to 4 review based on that service failure and the letdown on the fries.

Corn Chowder soup of the day. It is absolutely delicious and unlike any corn chowder I have ever tasted.

Our family discovered Christophers Eats on Yelp, while passing through town on the way to North Carolina. Our visit was stellar from start to finish. First, the inside of this building is warm and cozy. The staff was equally warm and friendly. Second, the service was lightning-fast. I have received quick and great service at other establishments in the past, but our experience at Christopher's Eats was definitely one of the best. But now let's talk about the star of the evening: the food. Christopher's offers a nice wine list, including both whites and reds. I chose a pleasant glass of Riesling. Next we ordered Bruschetta for an appetizer, along with a cup of corn chowder, which was their soup of the day. This was unlike any corn chowder I have ever tasted. It featured giant-sized chunks of potato and a beef-like broth. It was so good! It was an especially nice dish on a cold, rainy evening. For our entree, each of us ordered the Bison Burger but each with different sides. I ordered the shaved brussel sprouts while my husband ordered the truffle fries. Both sides were delicious, though my husband commented that the fries has a bit too much parmesan cheese for his liking. I sampled them and thought they were quite good. I typically don't care for truffle fries but I would definitely order them at Christopher's Eats. Finally, the burger. It was juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I even liked the caramelized onions on top, which is something I don't normally enjoy. In this case, they really added to the overall flavor of the burger. Yum! I highly recommend Christopher's Eats! So the next time you're in the neighborhood, stop in for a bite. Bon Appétit!

The meal was okay but I think that $50 was a bit much for a small steak. It's nice but too pricey for me.

The food is OK and the ingredients are local. It is a large, open space, so u will be chilly (even in the summer)

Sometimes the road less traveled leads you to wonderful culinary discoveries. The 21 At the…read moreFrederick was a terrific find in downtown Huntington, WV. Situated in the old Frederick Hotel, this eatery is a magical throwback to the early 60's with red leather, dark paneling and a chair rail featuring an elephant walk! Our dinner choices were relatively straightforward, but the food was outstanding. We started with a nice side Caesar salad with fresh Romain lettuce, fresh croutons, shaved Parmesan and a perfect amount to dressing. My entree was the Fried Shrimp platter. The shrimp were absolutely fresh, huge and butterflied perfectly. A light but tasty breading with a side of spicy cocktail sauce made it even better. French fries and glazed sliced carrots made for perfect sides. My dining partner opted for fresh grilled salmon, perfectly seasoned and done to perfection. Fresh broccoli and risotto were just the right compliments. Dessert was an in-house prepared chocolate gnash mousse - dense, rich and velvety, and served as the perfect was to finish the meal. Finally, the service was excellent. And we had a chance to chat with owner Mark Cross, who has presided over this establishment for 23 years. Mark was a delight to meet, and takes great care and pride in providing a top notch experience. If your travels bring you to Huntington, do yourself a favor and dine mat this historic gem!!

Service was consistent from the moment we arrived. Chef James Hillen rivals some of the top Chefs that we have dined with. The food was FANTASTIC! Our steaks were flavorful and cooked to perfection with an exceptional sear. The garlic mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and prepared. The homemade mac and cheese was creamy with the perfect crust on top. The salad was a good portion size and tasted like it was freshly chopped and prepared. The asparagus was cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. The crème brûlée was balanced and creamy with a delicious hardened caramelized sugar layer. We can't brag on this place enough and definitely recommend this restaurant. This is a place we will dine at again!
