We planned our wedding in Paso from Denver, Colorado so it was really important to us that our vendors be okay with us not being available to help too much and communicating mainly via email, and Christine was one of our easiest vendors to work with in this regard. I helped a friend plan a wedding who lived in San Luis Obispo. I went shopping for a variety of wedding cakes looking for; taste,quality, decadence, and price. As you know it is very difficult to find a high quality baker in SLO because there are not many choices to chose from. The cakes I tried at various bakeries in SLO were either gross or I just didn't feel confident with the baker. I got a tip from a friend of a friend, words travels fast through word of mouth. "Go to Christine Cake Creations". My initial consultation with Christine included: 1. She took time out to meet with me during the day on a Saturday afternoon. 2. I was given a taste test of carrot, marble, red velvet, chocolate chunk and vanilla, and after eating the testers, I asked, "Got any more?" They were delicious and freshly made, I stuffed myself full on the spot, I thought, I think I found my baker! 3.Then came the fillings.......So many choices, I could hardly chose, the choices range from; chocolate mouse, vanilla mouse, white chocolate mouse, german chocolate, hazelnut creme, fresh raspberries, cream cheese, cheesecake, fresh fruit fillings, chocolate ganache, rum bavarian, tiramisu, and mocha. 4. I even got to try the icings, I hate the sugary cheap kind of icing, this icing is special, Christine makes her own icing! I went for the chocolate whipped icing, chocolate buttercream and the cream cheese. I really liked the personal attention Christine gave to us. She was willing to work with what we want and needed. We decided on eventually going with the chocolate chunk cake, with chocolate mousse filling along with vanilla buttercream icing. We chose the offset style. It was decadent! It was hard to see such a beautiful cake being cut into. Christine was very flexible and worked with the florist and adorned the beautiful cake with fresh red roses. The cake was delivered as promised. Christine came early and set up the cake display. I liked how the cake was ready to eat and not still frozen. By using this small independent baker, we saved money but did not compromise taste, style and quality. I recommend Christine's Cake Creations to any new bride to be needing a fantastic and reliable independent baker! We just finished a cake tasting with Christine. I was looking forward to this cake tasting because of the good reviews on Yelp. Yelp has let me down. We paid 20 dollars for four mini cupcakes. They were tiny. We had asked for four different flavors and she got two of the four flavors wrong. When I asked about her not getting the flavors right, she told me she only did two flavors, though she never said that in emails prior to our tasting. In fact, she told me she would be willing to do all the cakes I requested. when I questioned her about this, she was rude and told me she did it just the way I asked, which was not true... She got two of my cakes wrong! So long for customer service! The "cakes" tasted as if they were baked about two weeks ago and put in the freezer. They were definitely not fresh. They tasted like stale cardboard. In addition to the cakes not tasting good, She seemed uninterested in us. She didn't take time to ask or hear what we wanted, and when I asked about a sheet cake, she made me feel bad for asking about it. I am skeptical about all these good reviews. The only other bad reviewer had the same exact complaints as I did, so I find it odd that there aren't more negative reviews about this. I am all about supporting local businesses, but Christine had no interest in us or our wedding, and her cakes were not even tasty, so this is a small business we will not be supporting.
