Christian book distributors had that and the expansion pack, which I didn't even know existed. So now instead of only four of us being able to play at a time, my whole family plus friends can play. I love this game; for anyone who doesn't know, it's a Pennsylvania Dutch card game that can definitely be hard to find outside of specialty stores. I was so happy to find it right away, made in America, and sold from a non-Amazon source. (I am always willing to pay extra to avoid The Bezos machine, but I got such a great deal at Christian book distributors it was the obvious choice with or without my consumer values). AVOID AT ALL COST!!! They will not fulfill your order. They will not return your calls or emails. There customer service line is automated and literally hangs up on you stating they are too busy to take calls. No option for a callback. The chat bot is not useful either, tells you each time you need a live agent but yet you can't reach one. I have had no choice but to report to the BBB and post reviews. Almost $200 gone....with no products in hand or expectation of ever getting them. Research first! I should have because I am now seeing many others with the same concerns and several newly opened BBB cases. These positive reviews I highly doubt are real. Shortly after placing my order, I received an email stating there was a back order issue. The email listed both items I ordered, and "Back Ordered" was listed by other items individually. After a couple days, I checked the order status and it still said "Not yet shipped" so I went ahead and ordered from another source. Then I'm called Christian Book to cancel the items, as the email stated I could. I was told one of the items had already shipped and couldn't be cancelled. When I told the consumer service representative that both my items were listed as back ordered in my email, she responded, "that's not what I have here" and was completely dismissive. I still have not received verification that one of my items has shipped, not have I received confirmation that the other item was actually cancelled. Order Bibles as Christmas gifts on December 3rd. They were supposed to be delivered by December 20th. The Bibles shipped around the 22nd and arrived on tbe 28th. There was no shipping notification email, no notice of the potential late arrival. When I called to asked, I was told they would ship shortly and upgraded to 2 day shipping and would arrive by Christmas, neither of which happened. In short, Christmas gifts were not here for Christmas morning but products were as described, customer service and communication are severely lacking. Be careful to read descriptions. 'Hard cover' childrens might be an abridged board book, two totally different things! And it's a hassle to fix it, no easy remedy offered. I could not reach customer service the day I placed the large order, (most of the order was fine!) though I called many times. Live Chat assured me I could, but apparently, they were very busy that day. I placed my order as best I could. Customer Service assured me she will let them know that the description is a problem. She thought I should not go by the description of the book, but should be Iooking at the picture of the book and notice it says(in very small letters )'board'. do like to support Christians and avoid Amazon, but I don't want you to be disappointed like me. This bookstore sells a variety of products for different Christian denominations. Their website says that they are the largest Christian retailer in the world and carry over 500,000 products. They sell many Bibles and other religious books, home décor with religious themes, supplies for homeschooling children, toys for children, CDs and DVDs, etcetera. Postage and handling are based on the total cost of a customer's order. I placed one order online for four books. I did not find every product that I wanted, but I still felt pleased with the selection. Prices were low to moderate compared to other online bookstores. All of the books were delivered to my house in good condition within six days. I did not have to contact customer service at all, so I cannot comment on their representatives. read more

I am very disappointed with Christian Book, and for the first time, a review has to be made. Please note customers - If you intend on returning a book, the site says easy returns, but should state "costly" returns. The site states the following, "We recommend insuring your return". After adding insurance and of course the weight, I just lost an easy 50% on my purchase on the return. So, I got free shipping on my purchase, but I paid heavily for the return. The customer service representative was no help and told me I should not have adhered to that statement on the website. When a company makes such statements, it leads the customer to pay to return as Christianbook does NOT insure their package as the items is mailed out Bound Printed Matter. An easy 50% gain back to Christianbook, and a loss of a repeated customer to another vendor. read more

Nothing Christian about this place, including the way they treat their customers. It is so disheartening to see a company make so many false promises on their website and never deliver. When I called customer service to inform them the items I ordered were not correct (and 2 weeks late) I was told that I would need to FIRST ship back the entire order so they could "see what I really got" before they would ship out the correct order. The craziest part is they were not willing to send me a prepaid shipping label so I was expected to pay for the return. Very disappointed that a company who labels themselves as being Christian would scam their customers like this! Had to choose 1 star by default, but they deserve 0 stars in my opinion. You don't get what you order. I placed an on-line order for books that were offered as a free shipping offer. However, some of the books and items I ordered were out of stock, even though they were shown as in stock. My orders were split up and there were never any notice as to if or when they would ship. Part of my order was on back order. I waited months for delivery and when the order finally arrived, I was charged for shipping in spite of the status as a free shipping order. Nobody is able to ever answer the telephone at this business. Only an outgoing message that nobody is there. No responses to emails to customer service either. We ordered a school curriculum and we received the wrong book. They apologized and resent the order and then resent the same wrong book again. Now we are two weeks late on the curriculum we need. They said they would send the order with two day shipping and now we get an email that they had their inventory wrong and they cannot fill the order at this time. We called to complain and their was no effort to correct the problem. They simply did not care and when we explained what happened and said we were going to leave a negative review they simply said "ok" with no apology or effort to rectify the problem. Every time I buy from CBD, I regret it. They always say your order should arrive in 1 -2 weeks. My orders have never arrived before a full two weeks have past. First of all, this is an online Internet bookstore. It may be local to folks in Massachusetts, but their customers come from all over the United States, and internationally around the world. I first got to know about Christian Book Distributors (or CBD in shorthand) early on in my Christian life. My personal library is largely made up from books I've ordered from them. And not just books. . . cassette tapes, CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, communion kits, and more! Besides pricing that can't be beat, they have a great customer service call center (@ (800) CHRISTIAN) which helps facilitate just *which* version of a fiction or nonfiction book you are looking for. Great help with selecting Bibles, and what kind of Bible to get (study, devotional, children's, gift, etc.) in every English language version you could hope for. Their Internet site, www.cbd.com/, facilitates information dissemination to the buyer and aids in the customer service experience. You can even try out large print fonts when selecting a Bible and order the desired font size accordingly! Amazing what technology can do. Yes, they have books on tape, er, CD or whatever the newest technology is these days. I know, this is the age of ebooks, and I don't even have a Kindle yet. For those who are old fashioned in their shopping, they snail mail out their regular catalog to their customers. It comes out every month or so. Always good to look at when in a downtime situation like in a waiting room. And again, they are available anytime via the Internet. Every time I order, it is flawless in its execution. The pricing invoice and what I'm charged is right, and the shipment is what I ordered in the time I expected it. I often order via standard shipping (US Postal Service) and I find the order usually comes in several days before the two week deadline for shipping is over. My latest order came in one calendar week's time. So if you order on a Friday, you'll get it the following Friday. Good to know. Also, if you order around $50 worth of merchandise, shipping is typically free. So consider that in your ordering. Great people, great selection great execution, great product. . . that's CBD! I always am glad to recommend them to anyone, especially my friends. I homeschool two kids. I ordered 7th grade A.C.E. kits for each of my kids. That's approximately a hundred and seventy books. I spent $455. Evidently they did not have the kits so they shipped all the books thrown in the box in no particular order. Online it showed that they had the kit in stock and no one had the courtesy to call me to ask if this was acceptable. So I am having to take the time to go through and make sure that I have received every single book. Not to mention there's another box coming that I haven't even received yet because they didn't ship it all together. When I called customer service they did not care at all they just offered to send me a shipping label send it back for a refund. When I asked her if she thought this was good customer service she could not answer and stuttered over her words.I asked for a supervisor and got the same attitude. In my opinion if you don't have the product that I ordered you should not send me a different product unless you call me and ask if this is acceptable. Not what I would expect from a Christian company. Not very customer service oriented at all and they don't seem to care if they're keeping the customers happy. They already have no money and know how much of a pain it would be to send it back. I will never order through them again. I've ordered from this company before and had no problems. However, this time I ordered a new Bible and was excited to receive it. On the day it was supposed to be delivered, I got a message from FedEx saying that it was returned to the seller due to incomplete information. I immediately contacted them and asked that they please resend it sooner than another two weeks since I didn't think it was my error. I received it today and even with my reading glasses the print is too small for me to read so I called again to ask if they would consider sending me a return label. The phone center rep wasn't at all pleasant. I have call center experience and know that her attitude is unacceptable. Sometimes you do have to say no but it can be done without being nasty. She accused me of "giving the previous rep (when I asked for them to reship it faster) a hard time" otherwise they wouldn't have done that for me. She reluctantly agreed to send the return label after I asked to speak to her supervisor. At this point, I honestly don't know who's 'fault' this is or was but I expect better (in terms of politeness, friendliness, helpfulness, kindness, etc) from a Christian company. She told me that she was putting me on some sort of list as if I was a trouble maker. I politely told her that her attitude was inappropriate to which she said nothing. This company was started by a couple of seminary students at Gordon-Conwell (in the 1970's) who were trying to supply their friends and classmates with books, and then became quite a business. I think that was the Hendrickson brothers and their little business became CBD and also Hendrickson Publishers. In any case, I've gone to their sales and events and gotten various things from them for oh, 15 or so years. Since the mid- to late- 1990's. Yes, the Warehouse sales are a bit crazy -- they only happen something like 6 times a year, and people bus from all over New England and arrive even before the crack of dawn. I had a few friends in seminary who lined up at 4am. I think they used to give out coffee to people who lined up in the morning. It is a bit of a zoo. A polite zoo. But a lot of people. It caters to primarily an Evangelical clientele. You can get books ranging from children's Bibles to technical commentaries on the books of the Bible to Christian music CDs to study guides to various other things. They usually have a section of discounted Bibles (usually a misprint on the cover or some other slight damage). You can also order online and they have excellent and competitive prices. For their niche, they usually beat Amazon.com. They certainly beat the Gordon-Conwell Seminary Bookstore in terms of prices and I would get the books for classes at CBD. They do offer an option to pick up at the warehouse sale if you order before the sale. I've done that a few times. They also offer discounts if you buy say large quantities (e.g., your small group/Bible study orders 10 study guides) or if you're part of a church or Christian organization. I haven't bothered with any other Christian bookstore in the New England area as CBD just can't be beat. If it's Christian, they probably have it. And at a pretty darn good price. read more

Nothing like they once were :-( I have ordered hundreds of dollars from this merchant in the past, over numerous occasions without a hitch. Nevertheless, my most recent attempt to order nearly a hundred dollars worth of merchandise from them has shown me that the negative reviews found here and elsewhere for these folks are more accurate than I had known. They continue to stubbornly refuse to refund $ paid for merchandise which they have not delivered (nor even had the courtesy to notify me about), almost two months after the date of order...all items are common, not rare in any way; and were (nor are) not listed anywhere as "out of stock" or anything similar upon their site. As a result, I am endeavoring to warn others that their customer service is, at best, highly suspect and lacking. While I am not willing to go to the extremes that some others here have gone to in demonizing Christianbook, it seems clear to me that the spirit which guides them is certainly "of the world", and not of the Lord - very disappointing...if you want to see a more representative variety of reviews for these folks, please reference reseller reviews dot com :-( read more
