So happy I stopped in here! I'm a big reader so I basically had too;)…read more It's the cutest little book store but it holds plenty of reading material for all. I especially enjoyed the section dedicated to the Salem Witch trials! There are quite a few famous books and authors with ties to Salem and Essex County! Just a little fun fact:) The books were the perfect purchase for my long flight home.

Horrible experience. Shortly after entering the store, the owner started loudly blasting two of her…read moreemployees in front of a store full of customers. A flyer advertising an upcoming Pride event had been hung on the doorframe of the store and the owner was accusing the two staff present of having posted the flyer without her approval. Despite denying having been the ones to place the flyer up, the owner continued to blame and berate them publicly. During the conversation, the owner repeatedly made homophobic and transphobic comments in reference to the LGBTQIA+ folks hosting the event. I ended up leaving as I was so disgusted by her behavior. If I could review separately for my experience with the staff, I'd give 5 stars as both maintained professionalism, continued to welcome customers into the store in a friendly tone, and help customers while being yelled at by their boss. Following that visit, I left a review pertaining to this experience on another well-known review site. The owner proceeded to leave inflammatory comments on that review (which, no surprise, included homophobic assumptions about myself), which is a violation of that site's policy. As such, the site removed my 1-star review because of her comment. Seems the owner has figured out how to get low-star reviews removed on that site. So, hence why I'm leaving a review here. Owner also has a history of threatening lawsuits (as she's also a lawyer) against those who leave low-star reviews. I wish she would either sell the business or close it down. Indie bookstores struggle as it is - she's not helping the business out. Update, 8/1/2024: Owner has now taken to harassing me via Yelp's messaging and comments system, leading me to have to report them to Support. Owner seems to think that I am a former employee and continues to violate Yelp's TOS by including that employee's name in comments left on my review. I report each one and owner edits it to still include personally identifiable information for that employee. Meanwhile, I have no idea who that employee is, nor have I myself ever worked at this bookstore or for this owner. Frankly, the owner's response on any reviews that are less than 4 stars, both here and on their G listing is telling--very disturbing pattern of behavior, harassing customers, threatening to take them to court, insulting them for simply leaving the less-than-stellar review the owner earned. If they go out of business, it won't be due to fiscal issues. It will be because the owner has a well established reputation and there's nothing really special here that you can't find at other nearby indie bookstores whose owners don't act this way.

I do also like that they have manga section that myself and my god daughter etc can run thru to get her the next chapter she needs in whatever series. If they don't have it they can order it. The B&N on the South shore near me closed down and it sort of sad to see. I like the smell of brand new books in a bookstore. They have bunch of collectibles, legos, funko pops and other figurearts! The Starbucks we ordered 3 drinks, the did forget the simple syrup in two of them so it's more was definitely straight matcha which is fine, healthier without the sugar haha. It definitely took longer than other locations with no line. The cafe also offers more food the your normal Starbucks as well. Staff was alright, didn't seem the most friendly on our visit.

Barnes & Nobles right by Northshore Mall in Peabody served as a decent caffeine stop for us!…read moreHaven't been inside this Barnes & Nobles in YEARS but doesn't look like much has changed. It's definitely a more dated store but seemingly had decent inventory of novels + great kid-friendly selection. They have a Starbucks inside, with only two workers but only one person working the front and also making the drinks. Expect a little bit of a wait because of this. We ordered three drinks: one caramel ribbon crunch Frappuccino & two iced matcha lattes w/ strawberry cold foam. Took about 10 min, so definitely longer than your typical stand alone Starbucks. Matcha lattes had no sweetener, though it normally comes w/ simple syrup but no problem, healthier this way anyways haha. My caramel frappe was very sweet + kept leaking out of the cup. Staff was okay, didn't find them to be that friendly. Overall, I can see this being a great spot to sit + read a book as it's pretty quiet in here & has drinks + food too. Just note if you're ordering food/drinks, just keep in mind it might take some time to be ready.

Are you sure or unsure? Do you seek understanding!…read moreHow about clarification about something? Are you fascinated or captivated by something? Look no further let's crack open the cover of a book? The metaphysical universe is out there and beckons beyond for us all to see what's happening? Remember make sure that you don't go blindly? Get your nose into a book. While on vacation in the deepest of Salem, of course the draws of a bookstore are too strong to stay away. The selection here is truly amazing. If you are seeking a masterpiece of art on witchcraft and spell speaking you have come to the right place . If not just ask. If they don't have it they can order that in which you need. The staff here is very knowledgeable about the "craft!" They are willing to aid you with questions that you might have . The answer is within you and it's waiting for you to discover what is there. Remember wander well and harm no one. The kindness of the world awaits you opening that book. Here we go !

They know their product and have a collection of some rare books. The place is PACKED with books. It's a bit overwhelming, but they have a bit of everything and since it's been there a while, the collection is huge. Our friend managed to find some text books that were out of print. He was excited about those. It is definitely one of those places you need to spend a long time in. Easily 2 hours if there is stuff you really want to look into. Great to stop by if you are a big reader!
