Huge store with all types of used and new books. I only had time to look in the children's section which was huge and decently organized by categories such as (sensory/cause and effect, holidays, popular authors, language, potty training, family). You could spend a good chunk of time browsing through the bins and shelves. It is great that they have a train table in the kids area so they kids can play while you browse the books. I was searching for Lunar New Year books, but couldn't find any. They had a bin for the big holidays like Christmas, Halloween, Easter and a general holiday bin for smaller holidays. The Used Book Superstore in Burlington is my personal money pit -- and honestly, I'm fine with it. I've never managed to leave with fewer than ten books, and at this point, I don't even pretend I will. The selection feels endless. Every genre, every niche, and then, just when you think you've seen it all, there's a wall of Blu-rays, DVDs, video games, board games, and random bits of memorabilia you didn't know you wanted until they're already in your basket. The prices are almost insulting to other stores. Seriously, I've paid more for a cup of coffee than I have for some of the books here. You'd almost feel guilty... except you don't, because you're too busy carrying out a stack taller than your torso. The staff is excellent -- actually helpful, not the fake "let me know if you need anything" kind. They've tracked down what I came in looking for, and then somehow convinced me to walk out with three more titles I didn't even know existed. My shelves at home are groaning under the weight of their recommendations, but sure, suggest me another series. Why not. I've been a regular for about a year now, and as long as I live in Massachusetts, this will be one of the few places I actually look forward to throwing money at. We took the drive from Quincy because I was looking for beginner crochet books. I found something I was happy with. My son found some Wiccan and Pagan books. We brought some of those home. My husband was the most surprising of all! He found a stack of books to read. He has dyslexia, so reading is difficult for him. He loves Stephen King and found quite a few of his books he has not read yet. He brought those home and was very happy to find them. The prices are very reasonable. read more

My mistake was not bringing a list. Preparation was needed - what books am I looking for? What series has holes? What do I think I'll have a hard time finding elsewhere and has been on my mind for years? The Used Book Superstore probably has it, but I went, foolishly, without any preliminary work. It's huge, I could have spent the day just going through fiction. There's a section for every kind of book topic - cooking, philosophy, manga, new releases, etc. They have DVDs and records, I believe they may only be missing CDs. Everything is clearly stickered, and a fraction of what you would pay on Amazon. There is a row of chairs towards the back if you want to sit and take it all in (or check out a book, I suppose). Bottom line - this store is amazing. If you love your physical books as I do, it's a must stop. read more

There were too many new books in the store for me, especially for a store called Used Book Superstore. I go to used bookstores to find used books not new ones. The prices for the used books were ok although I am able to buy a lot of the new ones on Amazon cheaper. The fun part of going to a used bookstore, for me, is to find that title you are searching for in the wild, but since they sell new ones, the title is there, just new, I can go to Barnes & Noble for that. read more

Fun place to shop, however, it can be hard to find a specific book you may be wanting to get. The staff is great in pointing you in the correct direction. Lots of varied prices for not only books but DVDs, Blu-rays, board and video games. A great large selection for kids of all ages books. I went yesterday to get rid of some books and it was my first time! It is easy enough to sell/donate your used books. I decided to get a store credit and then browsed around for about 40 minutes. I do think organizing it by genre a bit more would help as fantasy/horror are the only separate sections. It makes finding something harder. They have some good deals on the used books, but again the organizing is hard to browse. I ended up getting 6 new books (whoops sorry hubby) and only spent $20 with the store credit, and 20% deal they have if you check in on Facebook. I'll definitely be back! read more

What a great stop on the way back from our Maine road trip. I purchased 18 books - soft and hardcover and only spent $69. WHAT A BARGAIN!!! What I found mildly confusing was that 3 different color stickers were priced as-is, made it confusing as you have to continuously check which books had a further discount and which didn't. Too many colors to consider. But still worth it because regardless of sticker color, I still spent the same as I'd spent on 3-4 books at Barnes and Noble. The condition on 98% of the books were perfect, that minor 2% (mostly older books), had markings, highlights, or writing inside. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable of where everything was location and if a certain book was stocked at the time. I was in the smallest slight a little disappointed that when my partner showed interest in a book in their unsorted donation pile - they didn't make it a point to perhaps sort it into a price - he would have payed the highest softcover price just to have the book he came for, but they showed no interest is asking the manager or owner if anything could be done for him. read more

My first time in this store and OMG IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! I have never stepped foot into a bookstore that has GULL sized buggies to load all your treasures into! Wooohoooo!! All the shelves are nicely labeled with what section you are looking at, the end of each aisle is a larger sign telling you what genre of books are down the aisle. I wish I'd known about this business when my children were little, a VERY large children's section that they would have spent hours in. Actually, I surprised my daughter with a trip here, she's 23 and ... we spent 3 hours inside the store lol The Man & woman working on the day we visited were friendly and helpful with our questions. The prices are just awesome, can't complain about that at all. Records, DVD's, comics, Manga and all genre of books. Also a small section of board games and puzzles. It was a bit over 1 hr drive for us one way but we will def be back. We just made it into a day trip away and was fabulous. My only downer about the visit was the restroom. It's very basic which is fine. A toilet and sink is all that's needed and no frills. However it was pretty dirty and i wish that it was cleaner, to me it had the look of never being in great order. When my friends told me about the used books store, I thought it was going to be a small store with a small selection and not heavily discounted books but I was dead wrong. The store is a size of a mini supermarket and offered a huge selection of fiction and non-fiction books both soft cover and hard cover. There are books for adults, young adults and kids. The prices are very fair and discounted accordingly to the quality of the books. Most of the books were in great condition and some were borderline new. We spent so long in the store looking for everything from murder mysteries to business to self help books. I would highly recommend people to come to the store with a list of books you are looking for because there are so much to choose from. If the book isn't available, you can ask the front desk to notify you when the book comes in. Books were hard to find so the only downside was that I wish there were more staff on the floor to assist. read more

The Vinyl selling has something going on. There are a set of 4-5 folks who get the PARTIAL first stab at the vinyls (records) every Saturday morning. If you are not among that list you are to deal with whatever is left. I know a couple guys from this list tried to sell the same vinyl they bought for $4 for more than $15 :-). I came here over the weekend as a member of my book club told me about this place....well, she's my new best friend!! They have so many books: fiction, non-fiction, true crime, cookbooks, kids (HUGE section), young-adult.....the list goes on. They even have baskets for all your books, it's like they knew I was coming! ha! They have new stuff, old stuff, and everything in between. They have music and DVDs as well, but I went for the books. I wasn't aware you could donate and sell back books, which is pretty cool. They only buy back anything published 2017 and newer, so my next trip I'm going to bring some for buy back and some to donate. I'd rather someone read the older books I donate than worry about getting any money for them. I told the staff "this store is dangerous" lol they laughed with me like "I know!!". I spent about $50 and got a mix of hardcover and paperbacks, about 9 total books (I even happened to pick up a book with the author's autograph in it!) I think that was a pretty good deal, considering most hardcovers now-a-days are around almost $30 for just one. I love seeing stores like this, because I know the owners and staff love reading as much as I do, and it shows! I can't wait to go back here! read more

It's easy to get overwhelmed in the store because there are so many options, but if you come with a list, you'll find what you need. The store is no fuss and has most of their books in alphabetical order. They only buy back books that have been published in the recent years, so their selection is always good & fresh. Prices: Saturday- $4.00 Sunday-$3.00 Monday-$3.00 Tuesday-$2.00 Wednesday-$1.00 Thursday-$1.00 Friday-$.50 or $5.00 for 10 or more Friday they have a "carry as much as you can" deal on records. It's a great concept, however records disappear fast as a result and it is smart shop during the store opening. I've come here before on Friday night's and all that are left are Bill Cosby stand up routines or Polka tunes. I would defiantly recommend to examine the record before buying it because they have a no return policy. All the records are, however, generally in good condition. You really can't beat these prices! For the store itself, it's very pretty big and well organized. They not only have vinyl but games, cd's, books, coloring books...etc. Staff are super nice and very helpful with questions. read more

Books? What are books? Says my future grandchild in the year 2052 to me, as we fly through the air in our Jetson-like transport. Hopefully, this store will be around for another 35 years so I don't need to be having this awkward conversation with a small tyke about what it was like to live in the past. The selection here is downright amazing, it reminds me of an even bigger version of the Walden Bookstores of the bygone mall era. Divided up well into sections that are useful and not just strewn about willy-nilly, this is where you come to grab that rare fiction piece on werewolves in Romania that your goth friend told you about, and it may only run you $2-3. While I love their book collection as well as DVD's and even comic books also, I'm here mainly for the obscure and cheaply priced vinyl. I hate even writing about this in a review because I want to keep it a secret along with the collectors who line up on a weekend before they are even open to catch a glimpse at the wares arriving that week. So bottom line, the week resets every Friday/Saturday when vinyl is at its most expensive at $4 per record. Then, as the week progresses they finally go down to just $1 piece by Wednesday....and the cycle then repeats itself. I have been able to snag the likes of AC/DC and The Who, even later in the week. These may be records that collectors overlook thinking that everyone already owns them, but I'm someone looking to start their classic rock collection who is still looking for all of the major names. The now retro compact disc collection is pretty impressive also and I think they are ALL priced at around $2. I'm mad some laptops don't even have the CD drive anymore to rip them from the CD into a digital format or else I would probably purchase more of them. In terms of selection of just about anything you'd ever want at a very reasonable price is what makes this a 5-star store. Ample parking in a big lot shared by other businesses is another added bonus to make your next trip complete. There's no way you can't find something you'll love there. Secondly, the prices are truly amazing. I've bought 7 books for 42$ here before. I've bought brand new kids books for 2$. A great bookstore to look for classics and summer reading books for school. Those are inexpensive and the best way to go for those reasons. Young adult section can get pricey, and the poetry section is severely lacking. I was told you could sell your books to them published since 2016, so I brought about 5 hardcover, mint condition books for them to buy back. They offered me 50 cents each book for store credit. 25 cents each for cash. But when you look at the hardcover young adult books in the back, they go for $12-15. No way. I usually like looking around here. Don't come here looking for specific books unless they're classics. No Plath, Woolf, or poetry btw. Disappointing in that respect, but i overall really like this place read more

The fact the discount corner isn't categorized means you could stumble on anything; and that's exactly why I like to go to a store as opposed to just ordering online. Zoinks! This store was pretty sweet. I could have spent all afternoon in there if it weren't for dinner plans. :-) The DVD section was fairly large. I was surprised. (I guess I expected it to only be one shelf.) Like the other reviewers have said, they certainly have a large array of genres. The children's book and video section was particularly impressive. It covered a broad age range--from your basic picture books for the wee ones to young adult. (This would be an awesome place for teachers or parents of bookworms to pick up reasonably-priced books.) There's also a small, child-sized reading section in the back of the store. When we were there, a toddler was running around, playing with the books. Hehe.. so cute! Overall, I loved the treasure-hunting aspect of this place. You never know what you'll find. I picked up a vaudeville-style DVD movie about a dancing squirrel that leaves its owner to go live in a park with the other fauna. I haven't watched it yet, but it looks strange and awesome. LOL I also found a glossy, photo biography of Marilyn Monroe for a dollar. Seriously, kids. Only a dollar! If you haven't checked this place out, do go. Came here trying to sell used books at this bookstore. We had stopped by a few days earlier to inquire about the buyback process and was told to bring them by in the afternoon, as they weren't as busy and would have the staff to help. They day we planned to go we called ahead of time to make sure they were open. After driving almost an hour, we arrive at the bookstore only to be told they weren't doing buybacks that day. We explained that we had traveled to do this and had called ahead and still they refused to help us. The staff rudely told us that they were too busy and it was too late in the day for them to help us. There were only 2 other people in the store and we were told specifically to come in the afternoon. We'd give them less stars if we could. DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

For the pure fact of the location of this store, it gets 4 stars. If it was farther away from the amazing Barnes&Noble on Middlesex Turnpike, it would get 5 stars. But since I don't live in the area, I normally choose to go to Barnes&Noble over this, when I'm up in the Burlington area, since that store is larger and has more seating, more space, and more friendly staff members. The Danvers Used Book Superstore is more spacious and has much more books, and is also not near an amazing Barnes&Noble. Anyway, for this actual store, it does have some good qualities. First, it serves as a local bookstore for Burlington, bring a place that isn't in all of the congestion of Middlesex Tpke, like Barnes&Noble..... a place where some residents of Burlington are able to walk to or drive to quickly. It also has better prices and offers some different stuff B&N doesn't. They books are color coded be genre, and different genres are discounted every day. This location also has records, cds, and some kids stuff. The guy working (only 1) was friendly and efficient helping me (as it was almost closing time), but I still had a pretty good experience here. Probably will return to the Burlington B&N when in the area, unless of course there is something here, that isn't there (which surprisingly happens often). But a good place to check out on a rainy day, or sometime you have nothing to do. 4 stars. read more
