Finally, a real local, independent bookstore in Natick! This is a sweet little store, with a very…read morenice selection of books, especially for its size. They have a good-sized selection of kids books (for a store of its size), so it's a good place to bring the kiddos. While it's right on Main Street in downtown Natick, you might miss it if you're driving, since, although it says Ten Trees Books on the door (window?), the big lettering on the building says "The Hive." The store is still kind of in its early days, I think, with plans to add events and such in the works, according to Kim, it's owner, with whom I've had a couple of very friendly conversations. They do currently host a Classics Book Group on the first Thursday evening of the month, but I'm not sure if they have any other book groups yet. I look forward to watching them grow and hope they're able to thrive....I know it's tough for independent bookstores in this day and age, but I also know that Natick is the kind of town to have the type of people who will try and support it. If you live in, or are visiting, Natick and you like books, I heartily recommend checking it out!

When I brought up a historical fiction book I had just finished, related to current times, her attitude totally changed and a condescending disapproval shown through clearly. The young people help run the store, learn job skills, and work toward personal and career goals--and it truly shows in the care and pride behind the space. The shop itself is small but mighty. I walked out with four excellent-condition used books (three of which had already been on my TBR list) and somehow also added two cookbooks because... no regrets. Everything was very affordable, and it felt good knowing my purchase was directly supporting youth in the local community. If you're near one of their locations (I believe there's another in the Boston area), I highly recommend stopping in or checking out their online storefront. All books are from 2015 or later, no paradise for resellers looking for antiques, plus for used they're already marked up compared to other places I have been including library sales. The benefit is the wide selection. They also have DVDs and other media. Went to check this out as it is the largest used bookstore in the state but am unlikely to return due to the distance from home. If I lived in the area I would go back. My go to for books is the library but I was buying for two other people, one who lacks transportation and one who has mobility issues. They also buy books.
