A late post for today's breakfast. French Toast and Loco Moco. Both were delicious. The Loco Moco was unique being on a bed of hash browns with your choice of brown or country gravy. A nice take on the traditional Hawaiian favorite. My only suggestion would be some type of crunch element to top it off. Parking is plentiful. A solid choice for straight forward breakfast food. Prices are decent and the portions are pretty good. Everything was cooked just like you would expect. I'd say it's on par with any average breakfast joint out there. We came here after a leg day, so I actually left hungry, but I'm a pretty big eater even if I appear to be a skinny 125 lb chick. Bacon was thick and greasy. The pancake was a little disappointing, but reminded me of any buttermilk pancake mix you might buy at the store. Went here for a family brunch on Christmas Eve. The staff treated us like family and actually wanted to be there even though it was a holiday. The owner visited our table a few times and even suggested a buffet-style option of bacon, pancakes and eggs for the kids. That made ordering much easier. The food was so delicious. Since it was a family get together, I got to try four things. Two of the daily specials (Strawberry Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast & Country Fried Steak Omelet), the Eggs Benedict Omelet, and the Hot Hamburger. We went for breakfast with my husband and our baby. I'm Hispanic and I clearly felt discriminated. We asked for coffee and the waitress said she didn't have any, but the rest of the patrons were having coffee. That was definitely not nice and we're not coming back to this place, even when is the closest one for breakfast. read more

From chicken fried steak that was cooked to perfection to biscuits that were light and fluffy. All was perfect. Interesting ambiance here, with an unused drive through lane and remnants inside of the old Mexican restaurant this used to be, spattered with various auto-related decor, including the front end of a 50's-era (I think) Chevy truck. Space is kind of odd inside, but they clearly are in redecoration process, so that gets a pass until finished. It's not uncomfortable, by any means. Menu, like the menu of every single car-themed place I've ever been, is very much roadside café, that proverbial greasy spoon. If you're traveling, you know what I mean. If not, very much Americana, so various burgers and sandwiches with fries, half the menu dedicated to breakfast foods and so on. This is by no means elevated cuisine, but non-pretentious "hearty food." Is it great? No. I'm not even sure I would really put this in the "good" category, but it is generally fairly solid renditions of the old time-worn classics, without not too much deviation one way or the other. If that's what you want, with no surprises, this is a good bet...though I wouldn't say it's on quite on par with the directions that restaurants in general are going these days... read more

Rating is mostly for the food. I can't comment on service yet because we went opening day and things were a little crazy which is totally to be expected. We ordered the biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and French toast, all of which came with sides of eggs, hash browns, and meat choice. Biscuits and gravy were fantastic and flavorful, French toast was thick and cooked perfectly, the sausage was great, and the hash browns perfectly crispy. Our waitress was polite, apologized about the wait for food considering they were still trying to figure things out, and was kind enough to get us some free refills on drinks (which aren't typically included with breakfast drinks). We loved the decor too! My only recommendation is if you aren't a banana-lover. Their signature pancake batter is made with bananas, so if you don't prefer bananas, make sure you request the non-banana batter. We will definitely be back for more biscuits and gravy! Update: It appears as if the biscuits and gravy recipe has been altered. I have now ordered it twice more since the first time we went, and unfortunately neither time was as good as the first. The gravy is much more bland and thin, and way less hearty and chunky as it was the first time. We still love the food here, but the biscuits and gravy are no longer life-changing. read more

Chris' Cafe never disappoints! Had the Manhattan burger today - a delicious mix of subtle sweet and savory. I hesitated due to the onions however the caramelized onions are what will take me back for more! Chris shared his secret for perfect onions (you'll have to ask him). So great to find a place like Chris' so close to home! The service was phenomenal, and the breakfast was delicious! My son gobbled up his, and quickly devoured much of mine. Always a sign of a good meal! The bacon is to die for good; thick, smokey and the perfect crunch. Hashbrowns can often be tasteless and bland; these were crunchy, well seasoned, and the perfect pairing with scrambled eggs (or however you like them). The scones... come on! Light, fluffy, with honey butter melting on top. It's perfection! If you're hungry, go to Chris'! It's an incredible deal for delicious food, and fabulous service! Decided to go give this place a whirl. It was an awesome little place. Smaller area inside which allowed the staff to focus on your table. It had a fun little garage diner type setup inside. The food was awesome and for two meals was easily under $20. Might just be the new little hangover breakfast spot. Ok I really like this place and have left a good review in the past based on the food and the service. With that being said I was very unhappy about the level of precautions they were taking as far as covid. Waitresses wore masks but they were below their noses which renders them useless. The owner had a mask but it was hanging from his ear most of the time. I even saw a waitress that went up to a table of two with NO mask. I am an RN and I was extremely disappointed with the lack of precautions. I will NOT be back until there is a vaccine. Sad because their food is a four star and the service is good but guys if ya want your diner to stay open ya have to follow the rules. Very disappointing. read more

Basic, nothing special. The help didn't seem all that invested in making up for the lackluster food by providing a stellar experience. My wife and I both felt as though the visible employees weren't taking their COVID precautions seriously, and it didn't seem like the patrons cared. If the wait staff acts so uncaring and disengaged during a global pandemic, how does the kitchen staff act? Does management allow this kind of lax attitude about everything? First time trying Chris' Cafe. We like to support local, so we gave them a shot. Was about 1/3 full, about 12:30pm when we arrived. We ordered and then waited 25 minutes for the food to arrive. My wife's omelette was not hot, but did have lots of cheese. Her hash browns were only partially cooked and greasy. Her scone was cold. My Chef Salad was severely lacking in ham and turkey. We were staying at an AirBnB near here and decided to stop at Chris's Cafe. The staff was super friendly and our server Kaitlyn made several recommendations and we selected several of them. They were all great. Meat Lovers omelet, Chile Verde Omelet (Daily Special) and the #4 Stacked. The scone was especially special and delicious.
