The Halo Halo and Taho here are my and my wife's favorite desserts! The breakfast is very good, priced reasonably and tastes just like how they are made in the Philippines. The staff and crew are always smiling and happy to serve. Our favorite is Vilma who at just the sight of us, remembers are usual order. The restaurant is always clean and during Chinese New Year, even had lovely decors to celebrate the occasion. Highly recommend! read more

***3.5 Stars*** Honestlyyyyy....it ain't all that damn bad, folks! I'm actually gonna go against the grain here and say that for Filipino fast food, I actually enjoyed what I had. I feel like you shouldn't come in having great expectations when it comes to fast food joints like this. I know that's sad to say but that's just the damn truth. The horrible reviews kept me from trying Chowking for years and then I finally said ef it. And lo and behold; Sh*t was actually pretty damn good. I was having a craving for lumpia and the place that I normally go to in town was closed. Saw that Chowking was the only place nearby that was open that had it. This eatery is located inside of Seafood City. Don't expect to walk right in and get your food super quick. If you're in a hurry, this place ain't for you because you WILL be waiting. The line was actually relatively short when I got there, but there seemed to be quite a few people who were waiting for their food. Their menu has a mix of both Filipino and Chinese food items. Got to the ordering counter and despite how busy they were, the gentleman at the counter was very pleasant and patient. Ordered a two-item combo with fried chicken, lumpia, pancit, and rice (it came with a few sesame balls too) and a Thai iced tea. So yeah... that wait was mad friggin' long. BUT... when I got my food, everything was piping hot like it had just come out of the fryer. They must have just made a fresh batch of food because you know how them fast food places usually be. Maybe this is why it took extra long. The guy at the counter came out to personally deliver my food to me though and he also apologized for the wait. I wish more places would do this. A little acknowledgment really does go a long way. First things first: DON'T get the Thai iced too! It was absolutely disgusting. Watered down and flavorless. Why I ordered a Thai iced tea at a Filipino fast food joint is beyond me. But I sho' won't be doing that sh*t again. Now about the actual food; very yummy! The fried chicken skin was nice and crispy and the chicken meat was tender. It was a little on the salty side but nothing that I couldn't handle. I've never been a fan of pancit (don't ask me why), but I can confidently say that this pancit was bomb. I'll be honest though; this pancit tasted more like chow mein than anything else. And given that this is a Filipino/Chinese fusion spot, they're probably using egg noodles instead of wheat flour noodles (not that anybody cares about this). The lumpia and sesame balls were my fave! Because all I REALLY wanted was lumpia, but the piggy in my had to get all of the carbs with it too. The lumpia had the perfect crisp and the sesame balls were soft and squishy with that lovable red bean. Nom nom nom. It did take entirely too long to receive this meal, so I get why people are complaining about the ridiculously long wait times. But when it comes to the food itself, this is actually some decent quality sh*t for fast food. I will without a doubt be back when I'm having another craving again. read more

Chow King is a large Filipino fast food chain, and this location is inside the Seafood City building across from Jollibee. I came here because my wife wanted Halo Halo, and I was hungry for a small meal. I ordered the garlic chicken combo with rice and noodles. I liked the flavor of the garlic chicken, the noodles were good, and the rice was fine. The Halo Halo looked good, and my wife seemed to enjoy it. The prices are very reasonable, and the menu had some good options including beef soup. We come by here every few months, and I want to try other food. Chow King offers several Filipino fast food options. It was my first time trying their food, and I recommend it if you're curious about Filipino fast food. It makes for a good snack before you go shopping at Seafood City, it will help you spend less money on groceries. read more

I came to this place for the Halo-Halo. At $4.99, believe me, it is the best deal on good Halo-Halo in the Diablo Valley. Today, I have a complaint and a compliment for Chow King. The cell phone reception inside this shopping center is not so great. So when I saw a WiFi signal named "Chow King guest", I asked 2 employees for the password for the guest WiFi. One had no idea and said ask the guy at the register. The guy at the register said that only the manager knows the password and he doesn't give it out to anyone. The WiFi is for his own personal use. The employee had been there for years and the manager still won't share the password with him! That's not very welcoming of "guests", is it? OK, to compliment them. The Halo-Halo is outstanding. The tea was 80% ice, so although it tasted good, it was a rip-off. But it did taste good. read more

This place is located inside Seafood City. Not a surprise because it's always this way but just putting it out there for people who've never heard of Seafood City or Chow King. I haven't tried the actual food here, but their halo halo was fire!! I didn't expect much because their ratings are pretty low at every location, but I was just really craving halo halo. And I'm so glad I ordered it because it was freaking delicious. All the toppings were really good, but I do wish they would give a little bit more flan just because I love flan. I would also probably skip out on the red beans next time because I ended up picking out most of the red beans. However, an extra plus is that it didn't taste watered down even after the ice had melted!! Also, the cashier was kind enough to keep my halo halo in the freezer/fridge (even though I didn't ask) while I was gone because I told him that I was going to go order something at another place. My review was to let others know how completely unacceptable that an order placed 1 hour before expected pick up was still not ready until 30 min after it was supposed to be ready. Your reply means nothing and solves nothing. In looking at your replies to other reviews on this page it seems you're more about empty apologies and not actually addressing any of the issues at that establishment. ---------------------- Today (11/09/2023) there was really bad customer service at your Concord, CA location. I placed an online order at 10:40am for a pickup time at 11:45am. This was to ensure that the order would be ready as we have limited time to enjoy a lunch break. My husband arrived around 11:50am expecting the order to be ready for pickup. Instead, they told him 15 more minutes. No apologies, no explanation, no offer of compensation. It seems ordering ahead using your online system is useless as the order was still 30 minutes late being ready despite pre-paying and ordering 1 hour ahead. In addition, because they had to rush, once we received the order (14 pc chicken), it ended up being extremely greasy and oily. The bottom of the containers that held the chicken was SOAKED in oil. The name of the manager was asked for several times and whomever was working kept replying with "They're in a meeting" before finally pointing out the supervisor on duty. I believe the supervisors name was RENETH. Please re-evaluate your online ordering system and review customer service expectations with your staff. No one seemed to want to step up to take responsibility. Please understand this from the customer's perspective, online ordering is supposed to help with convenience. My time is valuable, and your time is valuable, which is why I ordered ONE HOUR ahead to ensure it would be ready at the requested pick up time. This was a major inconvenience which resulted in poor customer service and poor food quality. read more
