This was the oil the "C17. Thai Lemongrass Chicken" was swimming in
Liz R.

I accidentally clicked on Chopsticks instead of my go-to of Chopsticks House for delivery and I decided to give them a try since they carried a larger variety of Asian dishes. I ordered: Shrimp Toast Thai Lemongrass Chicken Sautéed Broccoli The shrimp toast had decent flavor but was soggy. And the main thing I look forward to w shrimp toast is it being crispy! So, that was a bummer. As I was eating the Thai Lemongrass Chicken I totally forgot that's what it was supposed to be because it truly tasted just like oily tasteless regular chicken and mixed veggies. EPIC FAIL! The Sautéed Broccoli was also swimming in oil but it was cooked appropriately because it still had a nice snap to it. Needless to say, this will be my first and last time ordering from here .... and back to CHOPSTICKS HOUSE I go!!!

The low ratings were not reflective of my experience. The Sushi was good, service timely and atmosphere as expected. Cale was decent.

The food was just okay. I ordered a spring roll, sushi, Hunan shrimp and the Pu Pu platter. The spring roll was good. The Hunan shrimp wasn't authentic it contain celery and no onions. The sushi rolls were presented nicely, tasted good but to big and rice fell apart. The Pu Pu platter was horrible and a complete waste of money!

They provided a plate. Good touch.

I was really craving hand pulled noodles. Luckily I stumbled upon Yo Noodles as the closest thing…read moreto me (about an hour drive). What I enjoyed about Yo more than a place like Dumpling District (very similar in menu) was the quality and vibes of the service and atmosphere. The servers were very helpful to explain the dishes to my family members who needed some help. The food hit! The Spicy dry noodles are definitely what drew me to come here and they did not disappoint. My kids loved the pork chops. The seafood soup was loaded! The flavors were exceptional. And for as much food as we order, the price was pretty reasonable! We look forward to our next visit!

For example, the Panfried Pork Bun used to be my favorite item here but they've changed the recipe significantly. The pork filling used to be a lot larger and juicier...but now when you break open the bun, the filling is so small that half of the bun doesn't even have any meat. 80% of the bun is just dough and it's not fried well and quite greasy. Everything overall was way too greasy, including the crueller and the dry noodles were swimming in oil. I did like the texture of the noodles, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the oiliness of the broth it was sitting in. It's really sad to see this place fall short since it opened a couple years ago. I'm hoping that they can improve their quality of food as it's really gone downhill since opening.

If you're between the poached chicken and the fried chicken, I would go with the fried chicken. The poached chicken was a little dry. - [Khao Man Gai Tod*]: This is the fried chicken rice set and comes with a sweet chili sauce. I've only ever ordered takeout from Kindi Chicken Rice but I liked that the fried chicken was still crispy and juicy when I brought it back home. Would I order again? : I would order again if I'm in the mood. When I was living in Philly, I used to love frequenting Cily Chicken Rice, which was also a Thai-style hainanese chicken rice spot. So, when I moved to NOVA, I was excited to find a similar restaurant nearby. Unfortunately, Kindi Chicken Rice isn't quite as good but it's still pretty decent. The ginger-garlic rice doesn't have enough garlic flavor and was a little dry. Also, I didn't like the ratio of chicken to rice; there was only six pieces of chicken for all the rice that was given. Lastly, the daikon soup had the classic peppery taste but lacked salt/umami flavor. But I did like that the daikon was sliced whereas the daikon in the Cily Chicken Rice soup is just one hunk of daikon.

I ordered the Signature Khao Man Gai. It comes with soup and sauce to dip. The rice was flavorful and the chicken was good. The seating inside is a bit small but they also offer outdoor seating.

The one blip was when we first entered, the young-ish man at the host desk looked at us with a "What are you doing here?" grimace. I was stunned since the hosts are usually very happy to see patrons come in. Beyond that, though, we had a lovely time. Our server was quite friendly and got hubs customized Cuban order just right. I had the killer tomato basil soup and tasty grilled cheese. I also got an order to go of the Buffalo Chicken wrap. It was yummy the next day for lunch. We hadn't been to NYAJ's in years. It had somehow fallen off our dining radar. We'll be back more often after our recent terrific dinner.

I meet some old friends at this restaurant fairly often and we are always well taken care of. We often have Caesar as our waiter and he has been there a long time, and always does a great job. He is polite, friendly, professional and attentive. The food is good. I don't know if I would say there is anything fantastic about it, but I have never had a bad meal there. I've had the chicken parm, the Cuban sandwich, burgers, and salads and everything had been tasty and freshly prepared. I love a good Cuban sandwich and NYAJ's is a good one, and they are one of the few restaurants with a Waldorf salad on the menu, so I have ordered that several times. My only critique of that would be, I wish it had the candied pecans that are listed as an ingredient on the menu, but the last 3 times I have had that salad, they have been missing. I also love the French onion soup there, as well as many of the appetizers. You really do not have to worry about getting a bad meal at Not Your Average Joe's, it's very reliable.

The menu has other soup based to select from so a variety for whatever you're looking for. I will need to come back to tried their pancake as it smelled so good! Service was friendly & nice. Despite the weekend rush, I was seated right away on a Sunday night. There is limited parking out front but of courses there's plenty of parking just in the other lot.
