The Zeus for 6 bucks

I've gone Greek after I tried the Zeus Stuffed Cup. To put it simply, #yummohmygod. Brown basmati rice mixed with tomatoes and cukes and feta and tzatziki and Greek Dressing. Great takeout dish that hits the spot. Good for diabetics because you can have a bit of carbs in the basmati rice. You can also customize your salads or preorder from a wide selection from the menu. Great way to eat healthy on the go and one of very few healthier vegetarian places in this part of town. After all, with an aging population we all have to eat healthy to look and stay young!! hope you enjoy it here. Oh don't forget the points rewards card . I can't wait to try the wraps and other items. Yes! I found my go to place in this mall. Yippiee!

Wow, about 8 months since my last visit. I've been pretty restrained this year. A lot of…read moreinteresting flavors of croissants have come out of this place these last 8 months and I missed them all. Still grieving over having missed out on the Mango Sticky Rice cube croissant! Recently they came out with a Vegan Creme Brulee croissant as well as a Vegan Bubble Tea Cube Croissant. This was too much. I couldn't take it anymore. It was time to get back to my favourite bakery and try these croissants! Got there around 8:50am on a Saturday morning about one day before the last day of their Bubble Tea Cube Croissant which was a limited time creation for the Vancouver Croissant Crawl. Sooo creative. It was filled with black tea cream and brown sugar caramel, dipped in white chocolate and topped with tea whip, more caramel and brown sugar boba. There was a small little straw sticking out the top to give it that whimsical bubble tea look. The Creme Brulee Croissant. I had a sneaking suspicion that by the time I brought this home and by the time both my husband and daughter were up, and ready to partake in eating this one with me, the hard sugar topping would no longer be hard. Unfortunately, I was right about this. The sugar had gone soft by the time we sat down to have this. Not any fault of the bakery though. As I said, I had my suspicions about this. I have made creme brulee myself, a number of times over the years. There was one time I made it and took it over to a friend's home, and by the time we sat down to eat it, the sugar had gone soft. So this is why I suspected that the sugar on the Creme Brulee croissant would also be soft by the time my family was ready to eat. We tried torching it again but to no avail. So then we added a bit more sugar and then torched it again. The new layer of sugar helped, and hardened after we torched it. Mmmm...so yummy! I loved the Creme part of it. Even without the hard layer of sugar on top, this croissant was still divine. Our daughter preferred the Bubble Tea Cube Croissant but personally I preferred this Creme Brulee Croissant. Wish they would keep this croissant around forever. I'd love to go back and eat it fresh in the store next time!

I always start with the Crispy Rolls, filled with mixed vegetables and served with lettuce, fragrant perilla leaves, and vegan fish sauce for wrapping and dipping. They're perfectly crispy on the outside, and wrapping each bite in fresh greens makes them even more satisfying. For my main, I can't help but order the Tofu Bowl every single visit. It's a generous vermicelli bowl topped with crispy tofu, mushrooms, crisp lettuce, fresh herbs, shallots, peanuts, and a savoury mushroom sauce that brings everything together. I love the mix of textures--the crunchy tofu, fresh vegetables, chewy noodles, and nutty peanuts make every bite delicious. Apparently, I'm a creature of habit because I order the same thing every time... but when it tastes this good, why change? If you enjoy fresh, vibrant Vietnamese flavours and plenty of veggies, this is definitely worth a visit.

Ok ok, what's better than driving to Canada to eat vegan food, I'll tell you .. driving to Canada to eat vegan food while meeting new vegan friends! We decided to meet up at Mila Plant-Based, 100% vegan restaurant in the downtown area sort of right in-between Downtown Eastside, Science World, and Gastown. The restaurant has a lovely, quaint ambiance, feels very welcoming upon entering. The bathroom was .. well, posh! I don't normally make a point to comment on bathroom decor, while average in size, I felt like I was being upgraded to First Class lol. Ok, moving right along .. lol They have two menus, a Weekend Brunch Menu and, for all other hours, a Lunch/Dinner Menu, ..we ordered from the Weekend Brunch Menu. I had the Bibimbap Bowl - rice bowl with Yo Egg, mushroom bacon, kimchi, tempura yam, cucumber, carrot, gochujang sauce. This bowl had many layers of unique flavors all married perfectly in every exquisite bite, I say this very sincerely! My wife ordered the Pina Colada Pancakes - pancakes, toasted coconut syrup, cashews, cocktail cherries, rum-candied pineapple, mint. Each bite easily lived up to the the decadence displayed in the included image. We absolutely have to find our way back to Mila to try their Lunch/Dinner menu as it includes some amazing sounding options such as, Feta Stuffed Date - date, feta, pistachio, olive oil, maldon salt, ABURI LOX OSHI - carrot lox, aburi sauce, shiso, serrano, 6 pieces, Tuna Crispy Rice - watermelon akami tuna, sushi rice, lime kewpie mayo, green onion, sesame seeds, 3 pieces, and much more. We had quite a few options to choose from regarding where to meet for brunch, with every option sounding wonderful in their own way. Ultimately, we decided on Mila because of their unique, fresh and inspiring sounding dishes and yeah, they did not disappoint. Thanks so much for dropping by and reading this review. Do yourself a favor and extend the same courtesy to Mila by ... dropping by .. and enjoying some amazing tasty food.

To begin, I'm a chef specializing in Asian cuisine, so I know what I'm talking about!…read more Last night we went to Hestia and ordered three items. The Garden Rolls were absolutely the #1 worst ones we've ever eaten! We've had hundreds of fresh rolls at dozens of places and sadly, none were as tasteless as these. They consisted of noodles, a bit of flavorless tofu and cucumber. Fresh rolls MUST have at least one or more of the following: fresh mint, fresh cilantro or fresh Thai Basil. Hestia's had NONE!. To add insult to injury, the watery sauce also had NO flavor. To add more insult, they were baggy and poorly wrapped and the innards kept falling out. Not fun and definitely not good. The king oyster mushrooms were very good, but there was a ton of pink mayo dousing it. I would have preferred the sauce be in a separate bowl so we could choose how much dipping we'd like to do. The saffron tofu bowl was sensational! Perfectly spiced and full of a huge variety of well-cooked veggies plus the saffron rice was good too. No one came during our meal to ask if we needed anything or to ask how our meal was. The customer service is in need of some work.

On a rain-soaked Vancouver night, just before wandering into the soft glow of the annual Lumiere…read moreFestival, we slipped into Hestia Veggie for warmth and a little shelter from the pitter-patter outside. The rain had settled into that familiar Vancouver rhythm, steady and soft, turning the streets into mirrors beneath the city lights. Inside, everything felt worlds away. Gentle lighting washed over the clean, calm interior, and for a moment, the noise of the wet evening seemed to fall away. It was the kind of quiet exhale you only notice after stepping out of the cold. The curry laksa arrived first, a vibrant bowl of yellow curry filled with broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, vegan shrimp, kale noodles, mushrooms, and coconut milk. Against the grey evening outside, its golden broth looked almost sunlit. It was a dish that seemed perfectly suited to the night, the kind of steaming bowl you imagine wrapping your hands around while rain taps against the windows. The broth was a little watery, but it still carried that small, familiar embrace you reach for on a wet night. The laksa is a dish so many seem to praise, and at first glance, it was easy to understand why. The bright curry, generous vegetables, and colourful ingredients made it look hopeful and inviting. But as we worked our way through the bowl, the balance began to feel a little off. There was considerably more soup than noodles, leaving the dish feeling lighter than expected. The broccoli and cauliflower also had that unmistakable frozen texture, which took away some of the freshness I was hoping for. It wasn't bad, but it felt muted. Like a song that should have been louder, this was a laksa that seemed to have lost a little of its spark somewhere between the kitchen and the table. Then came the smoked eggplant, and suddenly the evening took a more interesting turn. An entire eggplant arrived at the table, beautifully tender and deeply smoky, almost reminiscent of the aroma of a prized cigar. It was topped with Impossible meat, peanuts, salino, and dried shallot, creating a mixture of textures that made every bite feel a little different. The eggplant practically collapsed beneath the fork, its smoky flesh contrasting with the savoury meat and the little bursts of crunch from the peanuts and shallot. The menu mentioned a pineapple sauce, although if it was there, it had quietly disappeared into the background. I couldn't really find it beneath the other flavours. Even so, the eggplant itself had enough character to hold my attention. And then, almost as if the restaurant wanted to remind us exactly why we had come, the Hestia Saffron Curry arrived. This was the moment everything came together. Thick, fragrant, and unapologetically flavourful, the curry carried the kind of warmth that seems to travel beyond the bowl. The saffron shavings melted into the sauce, leaving behind a rich golden colour and an aroma that immediately drew us closer. Beside it sat a little pot of sticky rice, almost ceremonial in its presentation, waiting to be folded into the curry. The sauce clung beautifully to the rice, rich without feeling overwhelming, and each bite brought another layer of fragrance and warmth. There was something deeply comforting about it, the sort of food that doesn't simply fill you up but makes you slow down for a moment. Of everything we ordered that evening, this was easily the standout. Even the space itself seemed to understand the mood. The lighting was thoughtful and warm, the service was friendly, and the menu was broad enough to make you curious about what might be waiting on a future visit. As someone who isn't vegan, I don't often leave a plant-based meal feeling genuinely, completely satisfied. This time, I did. Not just full, but warm in that particular way a good meal can make you feel on a cold night. Eventually, we stepped back outside into the Vancouver rain. The pavement shimmered beneath the festival lights, umbrellas drifted past like dark little sails, and the glow of Lumiere waited somewhere ahead. The cold returned almost immediately, but the warmth of dinner lingered. Walking toward the lights, I found myself thinking less about the dishes that missed the mark and more about that saffron curry, the smoky eggplant, and the feeling of having found a little pocket of warmth on a wet Vancouver evening. Sometimes, that's exactly what you hope a restaurant will give you.

And I'm happy to say they were as good as I remembered it to be!! The coconut rice cakes are soooo crispy on the outside but literally melt in your mouth. We also tried their crispy fish fillet, no idea what the "fish fillet" were made of, but whatever it was I LOVED IT! It felt like the same texture as actual crispy fish fillets. It was flavoured so well and came with a side of rice and salad. For drinks, we tried their lemon leaf Collins which had gin. It had a strong flavour of lemon leaf but it was very well balanced with the gin. It was also sweet which balanced the citrus flavour pretty nicely. Their space is pretty cozy, I don't think they can accommodate large groups but a great place for date night. They don't take reservations so we just walked in at 7pm on a Saturday and got a spot but it did get crowded around 8pm so might be better to call before going during rush hours. I'll definitely be back again!

Unfortunately, the menu doesn't have side dishes, so I ended up ordering the lemongrass vermicelli along with a guava juice instead. The guava juice was a bit of a surprise--not quite the freshly made tropical drink I had imagined. It turned out to be the same bottled guava juice you can easily find at the grocery store, just served in a glass and at restaurant prices. Then my lemongrass vermicelli arrived, and the server warned me to be careful because it was very hot. That definitely caught me off guard! When I think of vermicelli bowls, I picture cool noodles, crisp vegetables, fragrant herbs, and a refreshing meal perfect for a sunny day. This version was served piping hot, making it feel more comforting than refreshing. That said, the dish was still packed with flavour. The fragrant lemongrass aroma filled the bowl, the vegetables added plenty of texture, and the savoury components came together nicely. It just wasn't the light, cooling meal I had originally set my heart on when I walked in, dreaming about mango salad on a warm day.

This review is 3 months late, but even a few months later, we remember our meal like it was yesterday and can't wait to return the next time we're in Vancouver. Getting to experience a Michelin Guide-recommended vegan restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip! We had (from the June 2025 menu): the Bread, the Broccolini, the Chickpea Tofu, and the Potato Cavatelli. Not a single crumb, morsel, drizzle of sauce, or even pea was left on the plates! Every bite was so full of flavor and decadent, we were so sad when the meal was over ;) The stand-out though was the Chickpea Tofu, the best tofu we've ever had and it seemed to just melt in your mouth. We also loved sitting at the bar that overlooks the open kitchen. They offer those seats for guests who want a more immersive, interactive dining experience. It was really cool to watch the chefs create each masterpiece. Overall a truly memorable and delicious experience!

Vegan, Michelin recommended, a no tipping policy, and a plant curious deal for 25% off the bill…read more.. Could a restaurant be any more tempting than that?! Had my eye on this restaurant for quite awhile and I had the Plant Curious deal for it too. As the deal was about to expire soon, my itch to try the restaurant grew ever more intense and so I finally rounded up a few people to have brunch at this restaurant with me. We ordered the following: Potato Rosti Chicken & Waffles Carbonara Risotto Dutch Baby Cake Table Everything was delicious. My personal favorites were the Potato Rosti and the Carbonara Risotto. I loved the crunch of the Potato Rosti and the added touch of flavor that came from the dill and vegan sour cream. Oh, and the ruta-bacon in the Carbonara Risotto was sooo good! It's been years since I've ordered anything with the word "Carbonara" attached to it since Carbonara usually involves meat. This Carbonara Risotto was the dish that I didn't even know I needed! I thought the "Chicken" in the Chicken & Waffles dish would be made from chickpea, tofu or some kind of soy product but we were told by our server that it was made from oyster mushrooms. Wow! Oyster mushrooms! How brilliant was that? Sooo good and nobody missed having real chicken with the waffles. Cake Table was interesting. Pay $18 and you can help yourself to as many of the desserts at their cake/cookie table so long as it would fit on your plate. Alternatively, pay $20 and you can take as much as you like to go, so long as it fits into the box they give you. I opted for the $20 to go version. having tried everything that I put into my box, I'd have to say that my personal favorites were the Spiced Apple Coffee Cake and the Hob Nobs (a chocolate coated cookie). I ordered a Mint Bergamot tea for my drink but the other 3 people at the table all ordered coffee. Not sure what kind of coffee they serve at Folke but everyone was raving about the coffee. They said it was sooo good! Ummm...I'm not really a coffee person, I'm really more of a tea drinker, but after hearing my friends rave so enthusiastically about the coffee, I feel like I need to have brunch at this restaurant again just so I can try the coffee! A word of warning, they change their menu every now and then so...if you saw something delish from this restaurant on Instagram, don't count on it being available once you finally do make it out to this restaurant. I had seen some kind of French Onion soup inspired French Toast on Instagram but when we got to Folke, they were no longer serving it on their menu. The Potato Rosti and the Chicken & Waffles were also on Instagram and thankfully they did still have those on their menu. They recommend family style sharing at this restaurant. As a group of 4, we ordered 4 dishes and shared them all. Personally, I'd have preferred the dishes to have been slightly larger. The dishes leaned towards dainty, fine dining portions. Not sure why I had half expected larger, heftier portions. I hadn't expected super large partions, but I did kind of expect slightly larger. I could have eaten a bit more and if I'd had more time, I would have suggested ordering a 5th dish; however, I was on a bit of schedule that day and needed to skedaddle. At least I had the Cake Table box with me in the car and was able to reach for a cookie to give me a bit more sustenance. Aside from wish the portions had been a bit larger, I very much enjoyed this meal and hope to make it back here again sometime. Gotta try that coffee that everyone was raving about!
