We stumbled into ChocoLattes on a chilly December morning. It's a quintessentially cosy coffee shop. I had a latte and my wife had pot of tea; all served by an extremely helpful waitress. This place has a great assortment of cakes and doesn't hold back on size. The treats are rich so you may need a box to take home what you don't eat. I think they're a little pricy, but I was willing to pay during the several stops I made in on a recent trip to St. Augustine. The staff was always friendly and did an excellent job! We ordered coffee drinks and a few food items. All of the coffee drinks were good. If I were judging just on the coffee drinks I would give them 4.5 stars. However, the food items were mediocre. Ive been to this cute location many times. Today it was a huge disappointment. First of all, the 2 employees were not wearing masks Secondly, our order took 25 minutes to get to us, only after I politely asked about our 2 coffees and 1 bagel. When I asked about our order, the young woman gave me a lame response: "We had customers before you that we had to take care of". Seriously? A cafe americano, a drip coffee and a plain bagel takes 25 minutes? She was hardly apologetic, and had a terrible attitude and a smirk on her face. Our coffee and bagel were nothing special. It's very good. To each their own, but, I'm s southern dude who's grown up with the ladies in my life baking incredible desserts, so, the cakes weren't the best ever, but they were tasty. There's definitely a ton of selection we'd go back and try. I'm pretty hesitant to give negative reviews because I know that businesses like this work very hard to do their best. But I also heavily rely on honest reviews so I feel compelled to give one here. The two stars are to account for the fact that they provided a custom cake with a very very short notice. The decorations were extremely cute and well done and with that I was impressed. However, it was overall very disappointing. This cake was to celebrate my sister graduating from her doctorate program and I was so excited to surprise her with it at our family celebration. Unfortunately not a single person could finish their cake. Nobody liked it and even those who are pretty easy to please did not want to eat theirs. I've had butter cream many times and I've never had butter cream frosting that actually tasted like... Butter. There was almost nothing sweet to the cake and it just was not something that went down easy. I was really discouraged to spend $50 on a cake that nobody wanted to eat and now is sitting in my fridge until I swallow the loss and toss it out. I've had other treats at this shop that I've enjoyed so they won't lose me as a customer, but as far as a custom cake goes, I prefer a box mix. :/ read more

This coffee shop is understaffed and overpriced, I feel very bad for the staff. It took 1 HOUR to get a cappuccino. 10 MINUTES to get a muffin that was displayed on the counter, it could have simply been handed to me. For a friend of mine, her dirty chai that took 45 minutes did not even have chai, it was simply an iced coffee with cinnamon on top. For another friend of mine, her matcha latte (again 45 minutes) was unsweetened, and upon tasting it asked for sweetener where the barista proceeded to add 5 pumps. It's obvious there is no formal training done here. Management please stop abusing your staff and putting them in uncomfortable positions. It is despicable. read more
