They deserve the 5 stars, no complaints. Went here yesterday and had breakfast for four. We had 2 americano, 1 flat white, unfortunately they didn't have tea. We also had waffle berries, banana and honey toast, veggie avocado bagel and the smoked salmon bagel. In total we paid $56,46. Everything tasted delicious. Why only 4 well meant stars? Because of the missing tea option and coffee in disposable cups. Will we come again? For sure yes.

Kookaburra...what happened?…read more When we first moved to Saint John's a few years ago from California, I thought the speciality coffee was sure to disappoint. However, to my surprise, Kookaburra had phenomenal lattes. On top of that it's a great place to bring the kids and was our Saturday ritual we looked to do after taking my girls to the dance studio nearby. However, for the past 6 months the quality of the lattes has deteriorated. The lattes come out either too bitter, watery and/or EXTREMELY hot. (It is possible to burn the milk while you froth it.) I'm not sure what it is, maybe the machines aren't being cleaned frequently, the espresso isn't dialed in, there is a new staff that isn't trained properly and pays attention to details? This is also not a one time occasion. I have come back many times and hoped the quality would be different. I've given back my latte and pointed out its ways too hot , the milk hasn't frothed well, etc, but still leave disappointed. One thing that I can't wrap my mind around is that there is a coffee shop about 10 minutes (Mikes Pour) which sources their beans Kookaburra and were initially trained by Kookaburra. Same recipes , just different name AND better taste. This place can be the perfect shop for the neighborhood. And I love the brand and was inclined to buy some swag. I'll be back eventually , with the hope the quality has improved. This place has the potentially to be 5 stars..

Shocked the reviews for this place are so bad when it just opened…read more I met a couple of girls here 2 weeks ago on a busy Friday morning. Is this place kindive tucked away in the back of a parking lot that's still being constructed- yes - keep that in mind. You will be circling the lot to find a place if you try and visit this establishment at peak coffee hours or weekends. I put House of Coffee into Google Maps and it found it no problem. If you are using a gps on your phone or car of some sort - should be easy to find. The stunning indoor decor you've seen on social media is the exact same in person. I was happy to see that. I ordered an iced chai latte with salted caramel. It came out in good time despite how busy it was. I sat in the booth in the very back. Another major highlight about this place - the vast amount of natural light. If you want to work remotely out of home or office, love that this isn't a dark and grim coffee shop to get some work done. My salted caramel iced chai latte was good. I would order it again. I passed on the muffins and small croissants they had to offer just bc a sugary, low protein, empty carb type of breakfast isn't my jam at any place. They did look tempting as a snack though. My one reason for giving 4 out of 5 stars. Most every influencer who shared this place on social media was parading around both upstairs and down - as if upstairs is an option to enjoy (it's not) Mon - Fri during normal working hours, there are offices up there which means - no customers (obviously) so people can get their work done. Meaning - upstairs is only an option Sat and Sun (the most packed days this place will see) So the main factor that makes this place more unique to Jax than other coffee shops (the fact that it's 2 stories) is unavailable most of the time. I wish the House of Coffee would have made sure to tell creators to share specifics about that and make it known (maybe they did and the creators didn't listen) but that's ok. I enjoyed my time here, the staff were very polite and diligent, and I enjoyed what I ordered. The Harry Potter vibes when you walk in really sold me on it. Give it a try if you are in the area.
