Hot & Sour Soup (with Pork)
    Amanda H.

If the only thing I'd ordered was the hot n sour soup, I'd give it 5 stars. I ordered garlic sauce chicken and it was okay. The sauce needs something else to give it a little oomph. The nice thing is the chicken wasn't fried, so I did appreciate that. The chicken fried rice, as usual, was tasty and the crab Rangoon was very good too. The hot n sour soup? Yeah that's the real star here. You know how you try something once and you compare all others to it after that? Yeah, that's the hot n sour soup from here. It's so good and comes with the lunch special if you're dining in.

    Chicken Lo Mein- flavorless

The chicken lo mein was flavorless and completely different than the picture on the website, unappetizing at best. Greasy sweet and sour chicken and overall just not good. We used to order here regularly, but won't again.

Chinese Kitchen is located on the second floor of a little plaza, but don't miss it! If you're looking for good value for the money, you won't be disappointed here. It's spacious and good for small or large groups here, and service is friendly and fast. The menu is mostly Americanized but you'll find some authentic items here and there. I loved the Singapore noodles I ordered, and my family each had tons of food left over to take home. I also had my kid's birthday party catered by Chinese Kitchen, and they didn't disappoint.

This is my second time here. On my first visit, I had the Sesame Chicken, which was delightfully crispy though there was some confusion with the bill. We had asked for separate checks and they gave us one check. My husband was with me on my second visit. I ordered Mu Shu Pork and he General Tso's Chicken for carry out. My pork was delicious. My husband's Chicken not so. It seemed old, only a minimal amount of broccoli and it wasn't spicy though the menu indicated it should have been. The prices are good with most ítems under $10. So far, it seems to be hit or miss for this hole in the wall. Don't expect ambience here but with it's inexpensive prices and pretty good Americanized Chinese food most of the time, this is a good place when you need that fix.

He order the beef and rice with broccoli and the meat was COLD and very hard the chew. The only thing that he liked was the rice which was hot. He love the beef won tons because of the spicy chile. The server was always on her phone. I asked her so many times to removed the dirty plates from the table and she completely ignored us. The ambiance was empty just a few orders to go. I feel SAD that I took an hour drive to be so disappointed at the horrible tasting food and also the bad service

We were trying to find a place to eat dinner nearby and noticed them which were practically next door. We ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and Ribeye Steak with Mushrooms for carry out. The prepared the order quickly and within a few minutes, the order was ready. Upon picking up the order, we noticed how nice the establishment was inside. The Shrimp in the dish was jumbo shrimp which was a nice surprise. Both dishes were only okay due to lack of flavor. They were skimpy in the number of soy and sweet & sour sauce (2 of each). They were nice enough to give us 2 fortune cookies (one cheated me out of a fortune, LOL). NOTE: They have a Chicago location in Chinatown as well.

You definitely can't go wrong with their pork belly garlic oil appetizer and their Yangzhou fried rice. My sister had to have her favorites which were crab Rangoon, scallion pancakes and the salted egg yolk tofu. All of their soups are great but we opted for their chicken and corn soup. All the food hit the spot and with my brother in law's help, we managed to clear all the food! Service was good and the space is perfect for groups. I only wished they had larger tables since I tend to order a variety of dishes and that makes it difficult to accommodate especially if you're dining on a table for two.

Mapo Restaurant has quite a few options. Has lots of options for everyone almost. There's both Americanized and authentic offerings with various levels of spiciness. Basic looking Chinese restaurant inside. It's actually better than it looks outside. This place is kind of hidden because it's located in a crappy building with a parking lot that makes it hard to get to. Came in and it wasn't busy. We were about the only ones in there. It's about $11 for a lunch special, which includes soup. This isn't that great of a special if you don't want the soup though. Has a lot of choices. The best one obviously has to be Mapo Tofu. Of course it's the signature item. This is soft tofu in a spicy sauce along with some onions and peppers. For sure it's pretty good even though it's not all authentic. It's located close to the H Mart. There's a few things for vegans and vegetarians.
