I was here twice, once with a group and a few weeks later with the hubby. Upon entry we were warmly greeted by the staff. The menu is rich with many choices of Chinese cuisine. My all time fave is a sweet and sour protein plate. Here they have pork. Had this scrumptious dish twice and it was still amazing even as leftovers. Check out my photos-- chow mein, scallops and veggies, sweet and sour pork, and even the complimentary dessert of tapioca. All tasted awesome! Big portions! The hubby was wowed at the generous portions of good looking food that was brought to us. Our servers were the sweetest, so attentive and kind. Even though they were masked I can see their warm smiles in their eyes. They are closed on Tuesdays but open all the other days of the week. Excellent Chinese food and service. 5 stars.

Tonight I ordered the egg fried rice and the orange chicken. The fried rice, which is always on point, was too oily and had too many green onions in it giving it a weird flavor from what I remember. I could have lived with that, but the orange chicken was god awful. The meat they use is so fatty and when you are chewing on it, it's like you're chewing on an oyster or a snail. It's incredibly rubbery due to all the fat. My 6 year old took one bite and refused to touch it. I ate a few pieces but every one of them was a struggle to get down. 1/10 meat quality, actually gross. Will not be retuning after this experience.

Hadn't been back to Lucky China for a few years. We went for a Sunday afternoon lunch around 11:30…read moreshortly after open. The place was deserted. Seemed only 1-2 takeout order customers beat us there. The building and staff do not seem to have changed. Parking is still in a U-shape around the building on their square-rectangular lot. So parking is on both sides and in the back but the lot is one way. No lunch specials on Sun, need to come Monday-Sat for a lunch special. The curry chicken and chicken fried rice have not changed and are still very good with a good portion. Prices have gone up but are about what you expect to pay in today's economy. Only difference is that you probably get a bit more quantity than at comparable restaurants. The spicy noodle soup seems to have changed a little--brown broth instead of clear/yellow, but the quality is comparable to before. The curry is the stir fry kind and not the Indian-Japanese soupy style many other Hong Kong and Mandarin places are serving. The lady who served us seemed to be the same one who helped us a few years ago. She is pleasant and efficient and seems at least bi-lingual in Mandarin and English. Four stars because despite apparent gentrification attempts in the area, Carson is still a dangerous neighborhood and that is one of the main reasons we have not been back for a while. Definitely worth a try if you have not been here before and definitely a good alternative to driving to downtown China town or Monterey Park/San Gabriel if you live in South Bay.

I was reluctant to leave this post in hopes of keeping it a secret, but it's time to share this treasure. The same family from the 70's owns this restaurant which is now in their second generation of family owners, their children. Their cooking tastes like it's always tasted, extraordinary. No other ethnicities are in the kitchen cooking. To me, that says a lot about the continuity and quality of food. Trust me, this is not Panda Express with high school kids.... lol. This restaurant is authentic. Food: 5/5... my favorite is their Mongolian beef, peppered pork chops, and orange chicken. They are the best I've tasted (and I love eating Chinese). They have an old school menu with plenty to choose from, nothing disappoints. All is good. Service: 4/5... there are time where things get busy, this may cause some delays. But for the most part, food comes out hot and their family servers are working both kitchen and service. Price: 4/5.... They offer a family dinner special that serves 4 people.. two dishes, fried rice, chow mein, eggrolls, wonton soup, and fried wontonsz. A lot of quality food, for an amazing price. Rest of menu is decently priced. Food 5/5: here it is, the best in the South Bay. Hands down. Pick anything on the menu.. I'd say orange chicken, pepper fried pork chops, or Mongolia. However their sleeper dish is the "three meats king pao". All fire. Ambiance 3/5: No frills, or fluffs... basic Chinese restaurant seating. Nothing special with the ambiance... it's the food that counts. You won't be disappointed.

This is the worst out of all visits... I couldn't believe I had to have an attitude with your Manager, she was so incompetent in the situation and her best response is "I just work here" took absolutely no ownership in the situation, and was so uninterested on helping. She didn't know how to process an exchange and redo the order., and if your phone line was only working so I can call in to tell them to remove the onions, none of this would've happened, You should empower your staff and give them the authorization to do things when you're not around, so this kind of screw-up doesn't happen again. I was googling Chinese restaurants in my work area and I have only tried one other across the street and wanted to try another mom and pop but place my order online for pick up. This place was the only one that had a website (out of the ones I searched) that you could place an order online and pay for (I could have called in an order I suppose at the other places). Located in a really tiny strip mall with a convenience store and a couple of other restaurants, parking is super tight and made me super nervous driving through it (blink of an eye). I opted to park at the USA Gasoline station next door (at a gas pump) as there were no parking spots available. When I walked in, the place looks like a complete dump (sorry, being honest here) with clutter everywhere! One family was dining in and there is one long table and two other separate tables so I would not plan on dining in (just take out). I was not worried about the food quality cause as they say, hole in the walls have the best food! So I placed my order at 11:29am & it was supposed to be ready by 11:43am; however, it was not ready until 11:55am. I got a lil nervous due to where I parked (at the gas station) so I noticed a couple of open spots in their congested parking lot and immediately moved my car. Magic happened upon my return: my food was ready! I ordered the kung pao chicken with steamed rice (brown or fried is 1.00 more). I also added on the hot and sour soup, egg roll, and fried wonton for 1.99 more. With tax, my order came to 20 bucks and some change. For the portion size, it equated to two meals for just the kung pao chicken (not the rice nor apps). As for flavor, I ordered medium on the heat level and it was not spicy and it was good but lacking a bit on flavor. The owner who served my takeout was very nice but you could tell she was a bit busy manning to go orders. Not opposed to trying this place again, but the parking situation is a major stress fest.

There was eight of us, and we ordered a lot of dishes to share. I'm gonna break them down, but I have to say that nothing we had was not top quality. I haven't had food like this in years. First was the Kung pow chicken. Wow, it was just a perfect blend of spice and the chicken was perfect. No gristle. And that is the theme of this entire meal. I hate gristle, this Kung pow was sublime. Sweet-and-sour pork. I basically given up on this dish because no one gets it right, and it's always an excuse to hide gristle and fat. Not in this case. It was super tasty and for the first time I can remember there wasn't 1 ounce of gristle in this meat. It was just crispy tasty wonderful. Hong Kong style chow mein with pork. Another dish I haven't had in years, and this place nailed it. Reminded me of my old China house restaurant in Alameda. I mean it was really good. The pork was awesome, the gravy was perfect. What a great dish. The fried rice was excellent. Not greasy at all. I believe we got a combination fried rice and man was it good. Shrimp with lobster sauce. This was excellent, God this dinner was just so great, and this dish was right in there with the rest of them. I can't wait to go visit family again so I can eat at this place. It was spectacular. Oh and the last thing, the hot and sour soup was amazing. Again haven't had this type of food since I left the Bay Area. I give this meal a triple wow!!!
