I've finally got out here and tried Chinese Deli. I didn't get the Fried Rice, but it looked good. My plate was overflowing with Chow Mein, BBQ Pork and Orange Chicken. I also picked up a side of Egg Foo Young and Gravy. This small Chinese take-out spot is a no frills restaurant that serves the usual dishes at average quality. Honestly I was hoping to be blown away finding a hidden gem, but no, it's a regular Chinese fast food spot. There is nothing wrong with being just another Chinese fast food restaurant, they do have Egg Foo Young and tasty Gravy, which is hard to find.

My heart breaks because my intention isn't to put down a small business but I had high hopes based on the reviews. As another reviewer pointed out, the chow mien was more veggies than noodles without any flavor and mostly salted. I love chow mien so I was looking forward to it. I really was. But it didn't meet my expectations. The food was overcooked and I got half and half, beef broccoli, and chicken teriyaki. I was grateful to have food but it wasn't what I thought it would be. The lady was so friendly and happy to serve but I think they need to double check the cooking process.

This place has the best fried rice in town. I went here on a fluke and glad I stumbled in. Whenever I'm in the area I have to stop here. They give you a healthy portion and it's very flavorful. Also had the beef and broccoli which was very tender.

YOOO I been coming here ever since I was little!! Let me tell you--they NEVERRRR MISS! Man the barbeque pork is the best barbeque pork EVER, it had to be said! with the fried rice it doesn't get better than that.. I know it's looks like the most unassuming place ever but mannn this spot hits like no other. & these portions can easily be shared or saved for later! amazing! Small but mighty! Small but mighty is my description for Chinese Deli. This small spot in Carson has some mighty delicious food! One can easily miss the tiny building that houses Chinese Deli. It would definitely be sad though to miss out on this place because they offer some delicious food for good prices! A combo with two entrees, fried rice and chow mein runs for under $13. Entrees include yummy dishes like Orange Chicken, Mushroom Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken and BBQ Pork. Aside from entrees; one can get sides like egg rolls or soups such as Wonton Soup and Hot and Sour Soup. I found the food here quite tasty! I enjoyed the BBQ pork. It was good in flavor and was very tender. I also liked the Mushroom Chicken. I found it to be quite savory and paired well with the fried rice. One other thing I noticed here is they are continuously cooking and so you are sure to be getting fresh food. Sometimes for small places; food can sit for hours under the heat lamp. That is not the case here as I personally saw them bringing out newly prepared food from the kitchen. This place may not look like that much from the outside but I highly recommend checking this place out for their mighty delicious food

Small standalone store, set-up with prepared food in steam trays that you pick from....just like a lot of other fast food chinese places all over LA. It's a stand alone building with some parking, as well as spaces in the back of the nearby KFC (there are no signs threatening towing if you park there as a non-KFC customer, so the businesses must get along OK). We were doing some errands in the area, and this place got good reviews, so decided to stop-in for dine-in. There isn't much room inside, but there are a few tables set-up to the side for dine in. It is a Panda-Express/Hong Kong Express set-up, where there are already food prepared that you choose from. Usually a 2 or 3 entree combo can be shared between us, so got the two item combo plate ($13.47) with half fried rice and half chow mein adding broccoli beef and teriyaki chicken. One impressive thing was that the fried rice had bbq pork in it, instead of it just being plain. Portions are large, and everything tasted OK. Drinks are cans only ($1.79). It was quite busy while we were there, and everybody chose something from the steam trays, so the food seemed to be turning over pretty fast.

Miles above your typical American style Chinese restaurant. Staff is welcoming, kind, and considerate. The food is very yummy - pork is cooked thoughtfully and without pork smell, noodles have that char flavor you come to expect without a ton of grease, and the fried rice is well seasoned but not overcooked. The staff even helped me carry out items to the car - I am astounded at the level of service. Look forward to the next time I come here! read more

I have lived about three blocks away for 54 years and have always found this place to be a good value. My favorite is their fried rice and I sometimes get the shrimp fried rice which is a custom order that is worth the wait. read more

First time here in a looong time. Food overcooked, or possibly it was under the heat lamp too long. Broccoli was soft, you'd expect a little crunch from a stir fry entree. Noodles? Soft. Not chewy as expected for chow mein, or any noodle dish. Rice wasn't prepared correctly for the specific purpose of being cooked as fried rice, and lacked the hint of nuttiness found in a quality offering. Beef with never ending chew rounded out the meal. Used to frequent this joint in the previous century. I remember the portions and flavor being on point. Grub good enough to keep in your rotation. Nothing on this visit reminded me of how highly I used to regard this restaurant. Nostalgia can only go so far. Anybody rating the food more than 1 star must not have any taste buds. The customer service is horrible. Stopped last minute to grab wings and egg rolls. The lady snatched the debit card and spoke in her native language when I ask for teriyaki sauce to her coworker. I used to pass this spot when I was a kid and always wondered how the food was. Today I was passing by after a Dr. appointment. Maaaan....their fried rice with BBQ pork and egg, BOMB!!! It hits the spot. Never had it nor seen it at other Chinese fast food joints as a fried rice. Definitely an upper hand for them. The orange chicken was good. The egg fooyoung was ok. First time here. I thought it would be great. Little mom and pop. The rice did have good flavor. Got combo with teriyaki and orange chicken. Don't know what happened. I was very sick for two days. Couldn't sleep. An extremely bad case of food poisoning. Not very happy about this. Never have I had an issue this way. So close to going to e.r. I hope they look into their food handling. Giant portions are not my criteria for rating Chinese food. I'd much rather have smaller portions of great food than humongous portions of mediocre food. Suffice it to say, we won't be back. Fried rice was mushy. The breading on the orange, chicken was very soft, not at all crisp. BBQ Pork was pretty good, not great. Chow mein tasted like dishwasher rags. Crab Rangoon were flavorless and egg rolls were bland and watery. I couldn't eat them. All in all, Chinese Deli is a big disappointment. read more

I understand why everyone would say this looks ugly but the furnishings are fine I never eat here but I buy and take it home. The bbq pork is awesome really good, kun pao chicken is good too The chow mein has veggies and noodles a little cut up but you can get a large for like $10 bucks and I make my own cal rose white rice but that pork is so good it's addicting. read more

Ive first had a meal here in 1999 when I started working down the street, And the taste hasnt change. Theyve been around for 35yrs and seem to have a HUGE local following. This place still has one of the best tasting bbq pork around. You just cant find the type of caramelization that Chinese Deli seemed to have in the BBQ Pork. My favorite has always been; Their Fried Rice with BBQ Pork and Sweet & Sour Sauce on top. And I slam a bunch of spicy oil with the burnt chilis on top of it ... I just cant get enough of this ... Been going here for years. I usually get the BBQ pork and teriyaki chicken. The big egg rolls are good too! Very reasonable prices, ridiculously large portions. They pack the container so full when I get home and open it, my food is in the shape of the styrofoam container! I always have left overs so it's like getting 2 meals! The food at this family run deli was amazing! I had the wonton soup, shrimp, fried rice, and orange flavored chicken. There was so much food that my family and I were able to eat it for three meals. What I love most about the food is it was so fresh. The wonton soup was the best I have ever had. The staff are great! The woman who waited on me, was so attentive to exactly what I wanted. This is the place to eat. The food is great, the tables and the restaurant are clean. If you have not been here, then you need to make plans to go! I got teriyaki chicken with no sauce, beef broccoli and steamed rice. Their chicken is so good and fresh, it doesn't even need the sauce in my opinion but their sauce is delicious so use it if you want. Great service! Owners are hospitable and generous. My all time fave is a sweet and sour protein plate. Here they have pork. Had this scrumptious dish twice and it was still amazing even as leftovers. Check out my photos-- chow mein, scallops and veggies, sweet and sour pork, and even the complimentary dessert of tapioca. All tasted awesome! Big portions! The hubby was wowed at the generous portions of good looking food that was brought to us. Our servers were the sweetest, so attentive and kind. I could have lived with that, but the orange chicken was god awful. The meat they use is so fatty and when you are chewing on it, it's like you're chewing on an oyster or a snail. It's incredibly rubbery due to all the fat. My 6 year old took one bite and refused to touch it. I ate a few pieces but every one of them was a struggle to get down. 1/10 meat quality, actually gross. Will not be retuning after this experience.

Located in a really tiny strip mall with a convenience store and a couple of other restaurants, parking is super tight and made me super nervous driving through it (blink of an eye). I opted to park at the USA Gasoline station next door (at a gas pump) as there were no parking spots available. When I walked in, the place looks like a complete dump (sorry, being honest here) with clutter everywhere! One family was dining in and there is one long table and two other separate tables so I would not plan on dining in (just take out). I was not worried about the food quality cause as they say, hole in the walls have the best food! So I placed my order at 11:29am & it was supposed to be ready by 11:43am; however, it was not ready until 11:55am. I got a lil nervous due to where I parked (at the gas station) so I noticed a couple of open spots in their congested parking lot and immediately moved my car. Magic happened upon my return: my food was ready! I ordered the kung pao chicken with steamed rice (brown or fried is 1.00 more). I also added on the hot and sour soup, egg roll, and fried wonton for 1.99 more. With tax, my order came to 20 bucks and some change. For the portion size, it equated to two meals for just the kung pao chicken (not the rice nor apps). As for flavor, I ordered medium on the heat level and it was not spicy and it was good but lacking a bit on flavor. The owner who served my takeout was very nice but you could tell she was a bit busy manning to go orders. Not opposed to trying this place again, but the parking situation is a major stress fest.

After taking our order, the employee returned to chatting with coworkers. When our order was ready, our name was called, the halo-halo was placed on the counter, and that was the end of the interaction. As for the halo-halo itself, my partner rated it a 2/10. It was overwhelmingly sweet and overpriced for what we received. We were hoping for layers of flavor and nostalgia but got a sugar rush that could probably power a small city. As a business owner myself, I understand that customer service is one of the biggest drivers of customer retention. Great products can bring people in once, but great service brings them back. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on both. The good news? These issues are fixable. A little more warmth, engagement, and hospitality would go a long way. Until then, we'll continue our search for our next favorite halo-halo spot.

This small Chinese restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but it's a hidden gem. Located in a tiny strip with a shared parking lot next to KFC, it has only a few tables inside, giving it a cozy feel. The lady behind the counter is incredibly friendly and nice. For a fast-food-style Chinese spot, I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the two-entree combo plate with chow mein, BBQ pork, and orange chicken, and the portions were generous. The chow mein had chunks of chicken and fresh veggies, the BBQ pork was tender, juicy, and had nice charred flavor, and the orange chicken was soft on the inside with a flavorful, crispy coating. I have been a loyal customer of Chinese Deli for over 30 years, but after my recent experience, I will not be returning. The customer service was absolutely horrible. The servers were clueless and had no idea how to assist customers. They were unresponsive and seemed completely disinterested in helping. It's disappointing to see how much the service quality has declined over the years. Today was the final straw. I can't continue to support an establishment that treats its customers so poorly. I've been coming here since I was a kid mowing lawns to get enough money to buy a two item plate. The food is phenomenal as the BBQ pork, orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken, sweet and sour pork, beef and broccoli, curry chicken and so on are great. I now live in Wilmington, but make the short drive to get Chinese here with my family. I highly recommend eating here. read more

The owner seems rude and angry. It was like she doesn't want you to order. Totally no customer service. I ordered shrimp fried rice, lo mein, and chop suey. So far, the chop suey was very salty.
