Have been coming here for years and the food is amazing. The only place in CT where I would eat Chinese. Cold sesame noodles, pan fried dumplings, fried rice and sesame chicken are so tasty. Besides the food and reasonable prices, we go to see Anita and Peter. China Pavilion is one of my favorite chinese restaurants. Their food is fresh, delicious and worth every penny. I love their steamed shrimp dumplings, beef teriyaki, boneless spare ribs, chicken and broccoli, and seseme chicken. The chicken is white meat and not too heavily fried. Their sauce is delish and tastes great over some yummy brown rice. We order delivery from CP at least once a week and it's never failed. The food always arrives hot and they get here within 30 minutes most of the time. Chin Pavilin rocks! read more

It's Good, very nice decor, looks much better on the inside than it's shabby exterior. The food was good, my wife's lunch was excellent, chicken with black bean sauce.. I went with the General Tso's chicken, based on other reviews.. however I was a bit disappointed my first thought was wow it was fried to a lovely crisp.. however it wasn't just the batter, the chicken was fried to a hard crispy texture as well, and it was very mild. General Tso's though it is sweet is supposed to be balanced with the hot.. there was almost no hot. The service was perfect and I'm not sure if it was a one time thing but I'm ready to give this little gem another chance. Although next time I'm not sure what I'll order. read more

This is my favorite restaurant! It's always clean, the food is always amazing, the waitstaff is there for your every need, and it is so peaceful inside. I love the tea and noodles that are placed at your table upon arrival. I've never ordered anything I haven't liked. Wonton soup, subgum wonton soup, and hot and sour soup are all delicious. Some things I've tried that were wonderful are- chicken and shrimp combination, chicken with broccoli, prawn and chicken Hunan style, Beef and shrimp stir fry, shrimp with black bean sauce, triple delight, and tung ting shrimp. My wife as a rule does not like Chinese food, but I convinced her to try China Pavillion and she loved it! This is the only Chinese restaurant she will eat at. Food is out of this world, the fried rice is one of the best I've had. Also the egg rolls are soooooo good. I don't care for egg rolls normally but I could eat these all day long. Food is good,but they reuse their oil one too many times, it's not appetizing to have little burnt things on every piece of tofu I had.

We get takeout from China Pavilion frequently, and it always tastes amazing! The lunch menu is a great value and good portion size; I always order the chicken and shrimp combo and it is sautéed to perfection in a very light unsweetened brown sauce (they do not put sugar in it, and it is thin, unlike most places that give you a sweet sticky syrup sauce) and it never fails to make my mouth happy. When we eat there the service is wonderful, the owner is lovely and the staff is always very friendly. Definitely the best Chinese I've every had, their spring rolls are great too, made to order and piping hot, you can taste the freshens of the ingredients. My mother in law even loved it and she sends everything back at least once whenever we eat at restaurants, but not here! I would go for a sauteed dish here if your trying for the first time because they are definitely this restaurant's forte. read more

I really like this place. I have driven out of my way many times to come here. Anytime I've come here there hasn't been many people there and I wonder why but I also like that aspect of it because it is more calm and relaxing for me. The General tsaos is great and I prefer it over any other restaurant I've tried so far. Their lomein is also very good. What we bought there last night was probably the blandest, most boring, tasteless Chinese food we have ever eaten. We are vegetarians, so the hostess had to order two dishes not on the menu, but they were not exotic. I wanted moo shu tofu, which many places have provided routinely before this. It was so bland that not even the hoi sin sauce had much taste; and no tiger lily visible. My wife wanted bok choy with black mushrooms. Nothing green in her bowl, just strips of white with the mushrooms and a thin, unappealing liquid. Even the fried vegetable dumplings were not as good as the frozen ones we buy at Trader Joe's. Maybe their regular dishes are of higher quality but we'll never know because we won't be going back there. read more

Very Disappointing . Poor service, food was Luke warm. Had to ask for silverware, soy sauce and was not asked if we wanted additional cocktails or questioned about the good quality. Did not ask if we wanted dessert, just cleared the table and presented us with a bill. Very sad :-( read more

This place used to have the best Chinese food.. Used to! I ordered takeout and got the same thing I always get every time I order Chinese. The total was double what I normally pay and I thought who cares, it's worth it. Well, the the pork fried rice was terrible and my beef w broc ($14.55) had a weird fishiness to it. Food is good, Normally delivered with cardboard between orders, Tonight, it was thrown in a bag and sauce tops were broken through the tops and dripped all over the order. We have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and we love the food. Today was the first time it wasn't a good experience. The food was excellent as always, however we were rushed by the waitstaff. While this might seem like a small detail to some I was upset. In the past 2 days I had worked 2 16 hour shifts and our trip to China Pavillion was a treat for me. I feel like we were pushed out the door and the restaurant was not even half full. Beware the charges on your takeout. We had a very unfortunate incident after a recent visit to this restaurant. When checking my debit card statement we discovered that the restaurant had added a 20% tip to our takeout bill after we left the restaurant. We had filled in $0 on the tip line, which they changed to a 6. They gave us the $6 when we went back a few days later, but this was in no way accidental. Not the best, but not the worst. Noodles were over cooked and the wonton soup was pretty gross, but the General Tso's chicken was ok. They told me that there was a $2 fuel charge of delivery even though there is no mention of this on their website... Probably won't order from them again. read more

I always get Kung Pow Four Flavor or Beef with scented ginger and both have a wonderful flavored oil for a sauce instead of a gravy. Everyone is so nice to you there. We have gotten take out and dined in at China Pavilion for over 25 years and after my experience tonight I will never return to this restaurant. At 5:50 I placed a take-out order and was told it would be ready in 35 minutes. I arrived at 6:25 and was told it would be a few more minutes. Ten minutes later I was told that they are very busy and it would be another 10 minutes. I was then told my order would be the third one out and I then watched 10 more orders come out of the kitchen. I told the counter person that I don't appreciate being lied to and to check again. I was then told that the kitchen already prepared my order but they couldn't find it. He had no idea what to do. I calmly told him that this was not acceptable and the young man went back into the kitchen and came out to tell me that they were taking food from other orders to fill mine and that it would be ready in 2 minutes. The order came out and with no eye contact from the young man and no apology, he took my money and I drove the 5 minutes home. I left the restaurant at 7:15; 50 minutes after I was told the order would be ready. To compound their incompetency they forgot to include part of the order and one of the dinners was cold. I plan to return to the restaurant for a refund for what they did not include, and will hopefully have an opportunity to tell one of the owners that they have lost a customer who will be sharing this bad experience with everyone I know. read more

The experience started out well, a nice family dinner. The soup was delicious especially the corn soup, we were all raving about it. Suddenly one by one we started not feeling well. Pain and uncomfortable feelings in our jaws. We asked the waiter and as it turns out all of the soups we ordered are made with Knorr bullion which contains MSG as one of its first ingredients. Not only did the waiter confirm it but he proved it to me by showing me a picture of the box. They promised there is no MSG in the rest of their food but as we ate the entrees the feelings intensified and we just felt worse. To top it off they serve cold broccoli on the side of many of their dishes and when we complained that it was ice cold we were informed it wasn't a side dish but merely a garnish that they don't expect people to eat. I can't imagine how much broccoli is wasted there on a daily basis, that is simply irresponsible. This was the first and last time I will visit China Pavillion. They did cut the bill by 50% which we unhappily paid but we weren't about to continue arguing about not paying at all even though half of us were sick; it took an hour and a half to get the food in the first place and my 2 year old was the last person at the table served. read more
