One of our sons works nearby & eats here regularly. He said that their food was good, so we figured we'd get dinner one night. Apparently, our definition of "good" is far different than his. Firstly, the portion sizes are smaller than every other Chinese place we've tried. We typically expect to have leftovers for another meal or two, but that was not the case here. Flavor-wise, nearly everything was pretty bland. I had the Happy Family, which contains beef, chicken, pork, scallops, lobster, and crab. While the dish contains actual scallops and lobster, the crab was surimi (crab stick). It was OK, but definitely not worth the higher price. My egg drop soup was an odd shade of orange, contained very little egg, and was very thin. The house fried rice was a sickly shade of yellow, and the shrimp were very anemic. With so many better Chinese places to choose from, I highly recommend skipping this one. read more

I really like this place! It is my go to for take out Chinese food close to my work. I got the shrimp foo young lunch, with broccoli and mushrooms, and it was amazing!! They are the only place I know that allows for customization of their dishes. The people that work there are always nice and helpful. Food always comes out with perfect and piping hot. Very nice people and will accommodate you if needed. You can dine in here however, it's not at all fancy. There are chairs and tables. I purchased general T S O (hehe) chicken and also shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp. I was not pleased with the food at all. The chicken did not taste or look like chicken and it was pink/purplish. I'm am not being comical at all. I have Been eating chicken for a long time and this had zero taste to it and did not look good. It appeared to be dark meat but it honestly looked like it's was glued together. I threw it out. The shrimp fried rice was not what I was used to. It was bland the shrimp were extra small. My 76 year old Mom spent $60.00 on takeout and noticed there was only one bag of crispy noodles. She was told she needed to pay $1 or more for a second bag. She was refused by the girl because she needed to meet the credit card minimum . She just spent all that money and they still wanted the minimum for the credit card. She walked out without the extra bag of noodles. She lives a stones throw from here and I will never step foot in there again. We have lived here 38 years. I think they deserve all the bad karma and should be ashamed of that girl who did this. I never write yelp reviews. I am grateful I can drive her to any other Chinese restaurant than this. Enroute to somewhere as usual..got off the highway to go to my favorite Baltimore Chinese Restaurant. Haven't been since before Covid. It's still great. We order at least 3 times a week and always on the weekend. Its basically our "go-to" when we can't decide what we want to eat. They had missed a chicken order a long time ago and had reviewed their security cameras to see if they packed it and they didn't. Ever since, the establishment has been really fast, friendly, and treats us well. They also called us to apologize and corrected the order since we ordered for pick-up we had to make two trips. We love their sweet and sour chicken without the sauce, their pork fried rice, their vegetable spring rolls, and their pork lo mein. The manger is rude, ordered off uber eats before 3pm for the lunch special & I order here all the time so I know what the lunch special comes with a soda & egg roll (pork or veg) even says it on the app. The lady charged me extra, when I inquired about the adjustment charge immediately yelled at me stating if you can't afford it cancel on uber. Then lied and said uber made the adjustments. I like to think of myself as a Chinese carry-out fried chicken wings connosieur. This place has two notable things for me, and I've been to quite a few carry-outs: -The fried rice has bean sprouts and there are NO PEAS! AMAZING! -The fried chicken has a light, but very salty and very greasy flavor, which I LOVE! Who goes to carry-outs for anything remotely healthy?! The fried chicken/fried rice combo has increased in price a tad bit since I started coming here, but it's still super worth the price. I'd also recommend walking over to the nearby supermarket to get drinks if you don't mind them lukewarm to save money. I've also had the General Tso lunch special pretty frequently here. It's not too shabby, but not anything stand-out from any other carry-outs I've been to. Try the chicken wings! It's like a secret or something, no one knows the magic of Chinese chicken wings!!!!! BTW, I took one star off of here because Fast Wok in Ellicott City, MD has the most memorably tastey wings. I have ordered China Kitchen's lunch combo platters numerous times and have not been let down once. The wonton soup here is delectable, being full of flavor. My go to for the main course is either lo mein or beef with broccoli and they have been good every time! All of this food along with a side of rice with the combo platter has been around $7, making it very affordable for any college kid. It has been a go to for many UMBC students. read more

After having their lo mein in the past, I was pretty sure I was going to have a good lunch today. I was mistaken. It wasn't horrible but when a Chinese restaurant gives you rice that is still crunchy in the middle, it kind of ruins the rest of the experience. Both the steamed rice and the fried rice we ordered were undercooked. All the dishes (we ordered szechuan green beans and shrimp, hunan chicken, shrimp fried rice, fried dumplings and egg rolls) barely had any sauce but still had good flavor. The dumplings were too doughy but the filling was tender and well seasoned. The egg roll was your standard egg roll, not too greasy. All in all, a pretty meh experience. But, two thumbs up that they offer Pepsi in cans ! I think canned Pepsi tastes so much better than bottled so yay for that. read more

My fiance and I hit this place up all the time. Their crab cheese wontons are A+, and he craves them often. If you are looking for some protein, hit up their teriyaki chicken; it's awesome! For the rest of the menu it is pretty hit or miss (enough to lose a star), but they're generally above all the other take out joints nearby. A strip of green pepper, a strip of carrot (both raw and not cooked), little sauce with a bunch of mushrooms. In Szechuan !!! My wife's Cashew Shrimp the shrimp were NOT cleaned and my son wouldn't eat his Chicken Fried Rice. So far I've only tried one thing here, their "Dragon & Phoenix", and I was more or less impressed by it. The D&P according to their menu is "shrimp mixed with Chinese vegetable & chunk chicken fried in spicy sauce". Basically one half of it is some kind of General Tsao's chicken (spicy orange chicken), which I'm going to assume is the Dragon, and the other side is jumbo shrimp sauteed with mushrooms and several veggies including broccoli, carrots, and cabbage..the Phoenix side?. Anyway I especially enjoyed this side. The shrimps were super juicy and I'm surprised they didn't skimp out on the portion--there were at least five large pieces in there. On the other hand, the chicken was...not bad but not so great either. We asked for white meat, and maybe only 40% was actual white meat. The rest was all red/dark meat. I'm even doubtful whether they used chicken breast, or just ripped pieces of meat off from chicken legs, which is what the chicken tasted like. But the taste of the whole thing overall was pretty good. However I definitely prefer Golden Gate's chickens over this one's. Though I would still prefer this over another nearby Chinese take-out place's (Grace Cafe)...because at least their chicken isn't 97% fried flour. Ordered chicken chow mein from this place for lunch & they gave us some soupy looking thing which is not what chow mein at literally any other restaurant looks like. I went back to clarify & change the order & one of the guys started getting angry at me that what we wanted was lo mein & what he gave us was the real chow mein. When I showed him what chow mein at other restaurants looked like & thats what I assumed theirs was too, the guy kept yelling at me instead of listening to me. My coworkers even agreed that the thing I got was NOT chow mein because thats not what it looks like ANYWHERE ELSE! I would never write a review just for a wrong order, it happens! I came here for the first time today ordered the fried chicken with fries along which a lunch special, which together came out to be around $12. They prepared my food quickly. The portions were decent. The fried rice was hard to chew, but fried chicken was amazing. If you're looking for fancy restaurant-quality dishes, you probably shouldn't go here.
