I haven't had chinese food in a really long time. The 2 places I wanted to visit were closed on Mondays. As China King is around the corner, I stopped in. On a positive note, the restaurant is clean, the food was ready promptly. The wonton soup was delicious. BUT the beef and broccoli was tasteless, as was the bean curd and vegetables, and there was very little sauce, Who needs rice if there's no sauce for smothering? I won't go back there. read more

Good food, fast food, delicious. My friends and me have been there for few years. The authentic Chinese food is good.

Walking distance from UB South Campus. I got the fish with fried tofu. Soooo good. I will become a regular customer. read more

China King - Fish with fried tofu. So good! - Chinese Near Me - Buffalo, New York

And if my previous reviews weren't bad enough, I found out a few days later that my friend caught one of the workers washing her hands in a bucket on the ground and handle food still with her hands dripping. Seriously, the FDA needs to get this place to clean up their act (and not in that bucket either) before they should be allowed to serve food. It is my personal goal to make sure anyone I am associated with does not give this place any business! read more

Tonight my girlfriend ever so kindly offered to pick up the tab for some take-out cuisine, and as we haven't ordered any Chinese food in awhile, we selected China King at the University Plaza. This seemed like a good choice, as it is one of two Chinese restaurants within a few blocks of us, and in the past, the food has always been good. The operative words here are "in the past". First, they don't let you in the restaurant. The door is blocked, and the menu is posted on the window, with the idea that you call your order in. Maybe a bit more extreme than most restaurants are doing now, but with Covid-19, I totally understand. In any case, our first indication that things might not be so good here were when we were told that NONE of the items we were ordering would come with rice. Rice, the staple of Chinese cuisine--simple, plain, but essential, white rice, that EVERY Chinese restaurant includes with things like Shrimp with Broccoli...nope, that was not included. If we wanted rice, then we had to pay extra. $2.00 extra. For white rice. Think about that. The same rice this very restaurant would have given us just a few months back as part of the order was now an extra. If it was me on the phone, at that point I would have hung up and driven elsewhere, but my girlfriend has more patience than I, plus she thinks better of people, so she continued and placed the order. A few egg rolls were added, and the woman on the phone told her the order would be $20 flat, and it would be ready in ten. So we went for a walk to kill time before returning. So when we got back, and navigated other customers who seemed to have discrepancies with their order, we were told that our meal was now going to be more, because they ran out of the regular size shrimp they use, and they had to give us "jumbo" shrimp instead. When I remarked that wasn't what they quoted us, the woman at the door said we left too fast. Like we ran off. I reminded her we called the order in, and they had our phone number, so they should have called back. I received no verbal response to this. So because we were hungry, didn't want to make a scene, and just figured what the hell, my girlfriend paid the new, higher price, and we took our food back home. Now, all of the above would not have mattered if the food was of the same quality as in the past. It was not. It was simply awful. Inexcusably awful. Bland. Chinese food should not be bland. This was bland. We ordered Shrimp Chow Mein. First, no chow mein noodles. Second, the few small shrimp in this one were under cooked. We got more rice than we needed for the amount of veggies and shrimp floating in white bland sauce, but whatever. The Shrimp and Broccoli should have made up for it. Nope. They included five, count 'em, five "jumbo" shrimp. Which, as you should gather from the quotations, were not "jumbo". They were the normal size shrimp that SHOULD be included with any normal order of Shrimp and Broccoli from pretty much any Chinese restaurant I've ever ordered from in Buffalo, Fort Erie, New York City, Cleveland, Toronto, or any other place in the world that has Chinese restaurants. So they had the nerve to charge extra for this, because it's not enough to pay for the pint, then add more money for white rice, then they charge extra for the damned ingredient they named the dish after. We didn't order just "broccoli", we ordered "shrimp with broccoli". What nerve! But worst of all, it was fricking B-L-A-N-D. Awful, flavorless, watered down brown sauce --and I would bet the farm somebody decided to stretch that sauce out by adding water, the same way that idiot we all work with thinks that by adding water to the bottle of hand soap in the office washroom will magically make it replenish. Nope, this was flavorless, turgid stuff. I hope they enjoy the fruits of their skimpiness. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER go to this place again. No one else should either. There are plenty of other good, solid restaurants who are managing to serve solid, tasty meals during this pandemic, and if this place can't, well, please spare us all and just close your doors and we'll happily go to Tin Tin instead. read more

I like this place better than China King at Maple. The portion was very good. I ordered the Chinese menu from the white board. It was great. This is the place actually provide good Chinese food and inexpensive. I will order it here from now on. read more

This is without a doubt my favorite Chinese restaurant in Buffalo. I always get the same thing off the 'authentic' menu. I get the fish with garlic sauce and substitute mushrooms for green bell peppers. The quality never varies. I've been coming here since my freshman year of college, 6 years later after trying half the menu, I'm still impressed. I won't say they know me by name there but as soon as I say "fish with..." They know the rest of my order. read more

Great food. And if you are looking for General Tso's Chicken, this is probably the best place to have it. Because they serve the best General Tso's Chicken in the town. read more

Your standard Chinese food taste, no bad. I like the fried dumplings and dipping sauce a lot.

Food is always fresh and pretty tasty. Prices are competitive with similar restaurants. I took a star off because they have occasionally made small mistakes with my order. There's not much more to say - it's a Chinese takeout restaurant that has met my expectations of Chinese takeout restaurants. read more

The cashier is suck！She charges me extra one dollar for asking one empty container. No more coming!

food is good and inexpensive. Good for quick takeouts. The special dishes on the white board are great, i definitely recommend them!

i excited to try this but it was just average. the menu on door dash has some interesting items but not all were available. initially i wasn't able to figure out if this was the place on main st but it is, the menu online just doesn't match their printed one. i ended up ordering the spicy beef, sichuan wontons and pork fried rice from door dash. the spicy beef was not spicy. i will admit, i don't consider frank's spicy either but there is some heat present. there was no heat. there was also very little meat, despite it being a good serving size. this was mostly peppers and onions in a faintly sweet sauce. same with the wontons - little meat, good amount but sweet. i ended up dunking them in my own concoction (black vinegar, chile paste and light soy) and they were better. the pork fried rice was decent. side note: if the restaurant doesn't have what you ordered and you ask them to remove and they say OK, door dash apparently just up-sizes one of your other items instead. or maybe it was the restaurant, i'm still waiting to hear back... read more

Too bad, I ordered a small bug in the noodle soup today. I suspect that the ingredients in the kitchen are not fresh and the sanitation is not cleaned up. read more

I came to this restaurant for the first time, and the meal was not cooked. I can see that the kitchen is dirty and greasy at the order bar. There are no protective measures in the fried place. It is easy to splash the hot oil out to burn the employees. read more

This place offers good food, but it has a few quirks that might get in the way of your enjoyment. First, there's its location isn't exactly the greatest, it's kind of buried near the back of the Tops Plaza. While the dining room is clean and serviceable, it isn't exactly welcoming, though they have recently installed a wall of photos taken with customers to add a bit more warmth to what was formerly a pretty drab interior. My order is generally taken promptly at the counter, and the kitchen is quick in turning it out. There is a printed paper menu which lists an extensive menu of American Chinese standards. However, I have only ever ordered from a separate menu of more interesting dishes listed on the wall (along with pictures). The spicy beef noodle soup is good, as is the sweet and spicy chicken and eggplant, but the dish that keeps bringing me back consists of fried chunks of fish and tofu with bok choy in a brown sauce. I love fish, but it's so rare to find it in interesting, affordable fast food options like this. I enjoy this dish so much that I will sometimes eat it two days in a row (a rarity for me). They have a habit of stapling their styrofoam to-go containers shut, which keeps them from leaking on the way home, but since you have to rip them open, it makes them hard to reseal for leftovers. They always have an urn of fresh hot complimentary tea available. Chopsticks are available, but you have to ask at the counter. They also have a minimum credit card charge, which can be frustrating. I return here often because it's nearby my home and good for its price, but I'm not sure that I would seek it out again if I lived closer to another good Chinese fast food option. read more

It wasn't that good we ordered chicken fried rice the chicken was barely cooked. THE FOOD WAS SOOO SALTY..

The shrimp egg foo yung is delicious. The BBQ boneless spare ribs is awesome. It's the best Chinese take out in Buffalo.

Great fast food! Lunch specials good but I miss the veggies. Used to have steamed broccoli in lunches....boo.

This is currently my go to for chinese take out. It's reasonably priced and I'm always satisfied with the food. They have a dinner combo which comes with your choice of meat, fried rice and a pork eggroll for around $6. I recommend upgrading the vegetable fried rice to pork fried rice because theirs is awesome. So far I've tried the general tso's, orange and sesame chicken. The menu says that orange and general tso's are spicy, but if you really want to taste it ask for extra spicy because it comes very mild. read more

Pretty decent Chinese take out decently price for college students and lunch specials are at a great price can't ask for more and quality is very good for take out read more

The food there is too salty and oily. The woman owner there looks always mad and not smiling. The experience is not so good there.

The food was pretty good here, and the best part was the homemade sauces, no msg. That's always a plus when looking for a place to eat for me. I got the veggie lo mein and fried wontons, definitely would recommend the fried wontons. I definitely will be returning as the food was good, and it wasn't super pricey. read more

My brother in law told me that this was one of the best Chinese restaurants in western New York. Not. I ordered something pretty simple Beef & broccoli & a few egg rolls. There were only a few pieces of beef, and under cooked broccoli. The egg rolls were ok. It is very clean & the staff was very nice, but that's it. They have a wall of photos with happy customers. I won't ever be one of them read more

Cheap and satisfying. It's not the place for you if you want "authentic" Chinese food (I think they use the same sauce for Hunan Chicken, Szechuan Chicken and Kungpao Chicken), and they use too much MSG and too much oil, but what do you expect from a Chinese fast food restaurant? They only take credit cards for orders over $10, and you should call ahead to order unless you are down to wait for 10-15 minutes. read more

I generally love this place but the fried shrimp was not de-veined. I generally prefer all the veins removed so that a bit unappetizing for me. The food is cheap and tasty and the place is good for groups. read more

If you are on diet but hate salad, try the Buddhism delight under vegetarians section l. The ingredients are simple: vegetables, tofu and Rice. Mann, it is so good that I couldn't stop going there for dinner. Unlike other restaurants who just simmer the vegetables, they cook it with white sauce that is super delicious! read more
