The portions we received were very small. I ordered the beef fried rice and only received 5 small pieces of beef. My boyfriend ordered the Kung Pao chicken and it definitely didn't taste like Kung pao at all. The crab rangoons were the worst I've ever had. Awesome! THE BEST Chinese Food I have had outside on New York City...and yes, NYC does have the best Chinese food. If you are from NY and you want realy good take out, go here over anywhere else in NOVA. Hands down! Even better than your typical NY take out place, it's also a decent and quite respectable looking resturant. And the service was quite friendly. So if you want to eat in, go for it. These people have no respect for their customers what so ever. The lady at the place gave my father the worst attitude and harsh words that I have ever heard. My father went in to pick up food for us that we had ordered for pick up. We were told it would be ready in 25 to 20 mins because it was busy (which is totally understandable because in these times of COVID people need to make money). When my father got to the place the order was not ready and he was told to wait a few more minutes. So after waiting a few more minutes he asked the lady how much longer it would take (at this point I was on the phone with him asking for an ETA) the lady responded "it's not ready yet and if you don't want to wait then you can leave!!" I was shocked to hear that but that's not all she continued to say "it's busy time and if can't wait then don't order the food." My father is quiet old and the lady said this in front of other customer totally embarrassing him in front of people. They have no guilt or empathy towards any of their customers. This food is edible but just not very good. When you add in the high prices, I expect it to be very good. Moo shu was extremely salty and general tso's was a lot of soggy batter in a very sweet sauce with very little meat or spice. Most dishes used very cheap salad shrimp. I won't order again. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. I have lived around the corner for a year and a half and have not tried this place, so thought I'd give them a shot when I was craving egg drop soup. They have an $8 minimum for debit cards, which is ridiculous. So I got crab rangoons, egg drop soup, and spring rolls. First, there was NO crab in the crab rangoons. They were all cream cheese and disgusting. The spring rolls were mushy and had no flavor. They even managed to mess up egg drop soup. While I lived in Centreville, I ordered from here frequently. The food is good and prices are even better, but I'm leaving a negative review because they're unwilling to work with customers. I'm .5 miles outside of their delivery radius (4 miles as stated on website) at my new location. I placed an online order which went through, so I assumed all would be okay. I then got a call that they were canceling my order because they wouldn't deliver to my location. I felt this was a little silly, since it is only .5 miles away but I understood the need for regulations regarding delivery distance. After searching for some other Chinese place, I decided this place was what I really wanted. I called back and asked if they could simply charge more for delivery to accommodate the extra half mile. I have ordered from here from GMU which is even further, so I knew that at some point they would deliver further. Nonetheless, I was told, "uh, no". Okay. There went my business. I would have even paid double the delivery fee (which is definitely unreasonable but I had a craving for it) but the place was just unwilling to work with me, or perhaps didn't care to. tl;dr = good food but stupid service decisions. read more

If you want unidentifiable chicken parts that look and taste like organs; this is the place for you. All the sweet meals (orange chicken, sesame chicken, general tso's chicken) have the same exact commercially bottled sauce that tastes like maple syrup. Horrible quality with top notch prices. I wouldnt mind spending 12 or even $20 for a meal but I would like to get some meat that tastes and smells like good quality meat and not the catch of the day or last weeks expired chicken organs. I have this place on my speed dial as God of Chinese Takeout. My friends and I live off the food at this place. On a bad day it's delicious. On a good day it's like joy exploding in your mouth. The prices are typical for Chinese takeout, but you get a lot more food. One order of chicken fried rice is at least two meals for me. Their fried rice doesn't have the strong taste of soy sauce that most places have. Plus they always throw in extra fortune cookies, sodas, sauces, etc. Every once in a while you wind up with an extra order of white rice. I felt very disrespected when asked the owner (Ricky, as he claimed to be) to add a bit of green pepper to my fried chicken wings and he first started to play dumb as if he had no idea how to add green pepper to a dish, and then he started to raise his voice and asked me to add $2. I ordered the 6 crispy chicken wings and I am still trying to figure out what type of meat I was given. Never had I tasted anything like it before. The spring rolls had enough grease on them that I literally could have oiled my whole family with them (all 8 of us). And the shrimp egg foo yung kept me in the bathroom. Needless to say I wasted nearly $40.00 on food to just throw away. Now I don't know about the other China Express but this one was in Manassas Va . So if you like mystery meat this maybe your type of restaurant but for me I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The food had me sick for almost 2 days straight. The most awful meal I have ever bought. To top it off they want me to select a star before submitting this. They don't deserve 1/5 of a star but I desperately want to let everybody know how lousy this business really is so I am going to lie and give them 1 star. read more

I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and I expected white/dark meat. I was very disappointed when my meal was delivered and the meat was unreconizable with veins/arteries - it looked like organ meat - mystery meat - completely gross. I picked the meat out of my meal in an effort to salvage my lunch, but it left the sauce tasting a bit strange. I paid a hefty price for what I ate of my lunch (RICE), It was what I felt was safe to eat. They also had the nerve to charge an additional fee on my credit card for a hot sauce, generally when I eat chinese this is a basic condiment. I will not be eating at China Express ever again. This is some really good Chinese food. I think sometimes it maybe is a little expensive, but the chicken tastes fresh. Usually when I get orange chicken and cut it in half you can see the meat is cooked nicely unlike a lot of Chinese places around. If you eat here, be sure to try the hot and sour soup.
