Maple Garden here is still my most fave Chinese restaurant for take out in Red Bluff. They have all the usual dishes, already made up in steam strays like at a buffet, it's just not all you can eat! The inside is not the fanciest joint, but hey it's cheap! You pay for each dish individually. They'll dish you out the food and the portions are super generous, they stuff the box all the way. I you don't see what you want, they can probably custom make the dish for you, like curry noodles, or chow fun noodles. That's what I did, just ask and they'll make fresh food for you and the prices are cheaper than any sit down restaurant these days. Better to bring cash here. We had the cook make a fresh batch of General's Chicken, along with some Curry thin rice noodles and my friend wanted a side of the regular chow mien. The bag they packed it all in weighed a ton! When we got it back to my house we opened the boxes and were surprised by the super generous portions. The food was so dang tasty and still all hot when we got back to the house. There a reason Maple Garden is my most fave fast Chinese place in Red Bluff.

It's been awhile since they had to close because of a fire, but maybe it's better now. It looks like they cook food to order, so the food isn't out like a cafeteria like they do at Panda Express. I hope the portions are better than Panda! Inside it actually looks very clean and neat, more clean than my usual place. I just kept things simple and got the General Chicken and a small order of chow mien. The order cam out fairly fast and the box felt heavy, so that's a good thing. Prices weren't too bad either, the menu is posted online. I'm surprised they have more selections than I thought they might have. I got the food home and it was still hot. The General Chicken looked as good as any place and the noodles, well, looked like noodles. All in all, I'm glad I gave Egg Roll King a try after all these years.

I liked the cream cheese egg roll and sweet & sour sauce. It's like a Rangoon, but roll shaped, no crab or anything, just cream cheese. I ordered combo plate w/orange chicken (just ok) & sesame chicken-I thought the sauce tasted ketchup-y. The chow mein is ok, basic,no vege, no meat. The fried rice is Very plain. No meat, just like 2 peas. No flavor. Mongolian beef is ok, not much beef and mostly consists of white onions! Didn't like the green bell pepper beef- no flavor, not enough beef ratio. The only thing I might ever come back for would be the cream cheese egg rolls & sweet n sour sauce.

It was 100 outside and just humidity and hot inside as well. Very uncomfortable. -Ordered 2 boba milk teas. It was like drinking watered down milk with a slightly toxic weird flavor. It did not taste good. -Ordered 2 shrimp fried rice bowls. The rice was old and seemed like it'd been reheated. (My husband is Filipino. I know what fresh rice and fried rice tastes and looks like. This was NOT) The shrimp had been boiled. Not fried. -Also ordered a thing of the crab wontons. They were very rubbery and stale. Overall it was very disappointing. Will not be eating there on our way back home. Side note: I probably would have gotten a combo but all the food on their food line was dried out and looked like it had been sitting all day. I threw out what I had left. Which from the pic I didn't even eat half.

The place is clean and everybody was friendly. The food is on a cafeteria type line, you just pick out what you want, and then they serve it to you and you take it to your table. I can't speak to the main dishes, themselves, as I just came in for a Boba tea. I did see that they also had wontons on the line, so I also did an order of wontons as a snack. The wontons were wonderfully crispy, and not greasy at all, and they were very generous with the portion. I liked the sweet-and-sour sauce, it was sweet and just a little bit tangy. I had the Matcha milk tea, it was creamy and had a wonderful flavor. It's hard to describe the flavor of Matcha, but I do like it. It was a bit sweet, and just a bit savory. They asked me if I wanted the Boba pearls, which I did because I like them a lot, and they were very generous with them. A milk tea and an order of wontons was only nine bucks. Extremely reasonable. Thank you for a nice stop.
