China Delights Restaurant San Francisco, CA
    J A.

Nothing bad to say about this place. It has been my go to ever since I moved to the city three years ago and it continues to be my go to today. I go out of my way to come here. It is amazing. The food is outstanding. The service is stellar and the packaging is top-notch. Take out counter service only so leave Rover at home this time you'll be home soon. . Take out only. This is one of the last Chinese restaurant that make egg foo yung and it is ridiculously good!! Chinese restaurants don't even make it too much anymore. Considering quality of food, price and service. This is not a place that cannot be beat ! They're open till 3 AM on weekends and two on weekdays.

Various take out - Fresh sliced Fish Porridge, West Lake Beef Soup, Chicken with String Beans, Vegetable Chow Mein

My go to take out spot, no dine in or vibes. They changed ownership so the 3/$30 special is no longer valid, but the prices are still reasonable. Porridges average 12.95 and they give a decent amount of meat with your order! Definitely good bang for your buck. West lake soup was similarly priced also with a strong meat ratio. Consistently, when I ordered the chicken string bean, the container was 2/3 (or more) chicken. If you're trying to bulk up and get more protein, this is definitely the spot. All the containers are always packed to the brim. If you go early and watch them pack your food, you might see your soup or food spilling out as they close (like I did). Portion sizing is very good. Current owners are no longer Cantonese (mandarin speaking now) but understand some! Their English is good as well. There is a parking lot but it's often full due to a convenience store being next store (perfect if you want a specific drink with your meal. I've seen many people double park to go in and out. The sign above is for HK yummy BBQ and they just never replaced the sign. They spent all their money on Costco business boxes of chicken instead. Worth it.

    How expensive for this garbage

Absolutely disgusting Chinese food.I live on the peninsula and The places I usually order from were closed. So I decide to give this a try. What a mistake.I ordered 3 different things of Fried Rice and chow mein. All of them were gross But especially the vegetable and chicken fried rice. Absolutely no flavor I could have made better fried rice than this and the chow mein was disgusting. Who ever says this is good Chinese food doesn't know good quality chinese food. Panda expresses better than this and I don't even like panda express. I'm so mad right now. The meal was $74, but with shipping and delivery, it ended up being $90.I'm beyond upset disgusting tasteless flavourless food.

I was craving for chinese food at 1:30am on a monday night. China delights opened till 2am. Arrived at 1:40am, ordered beef chow fun. Order was finished in 5 mins. The beef chow fun was delicious. Had a lot of wok hay and the beef was well marinated. Cost 14$ for the beef chow fun, which is the average pricee at other dim sum restaurants. Even though there is no dining area inside, it's a good spot for late night to go chinese food.

This has no right being this good..... but it is. It's a hole in the wall Chinese place, and I thought the reviews were overstating it.... Nope this stuff is the real deal. Honestly one of the best things I've had in the bay, and I'd say the pork spare ribs can hold their own when compared to San Tung's wings. The wings win, but not by much. The serving portions are extremely healthy, and great value. I'm a big guy with a huge appetite and I could stretch this into 4 meals (main container not pictured, this is about 40% of the entree on my plate) or 2 meals if I'm really hungry. The pork spare ribs were crispy and perfectly sweet and salty. The owners were nice and I might have just found my go to spot if I need food in a pinch.

Trying it for the first time very good. Will definitely order again. My favorite is sweet and sour fish and the chicken fried rice was good. Soy sauce chow mein was ok a little dry but flavorful. Fried tofu with veggies was very good. I will for sure comeback next time especially how I liked the sweet sour fish big pieces.

Takeaway: Fried Tofu with Mixed Vegetables and Fish Paste/Lettuce Porridge.
    Peter L.

The fried tofu with veggies and Minced Beef porridge are recommended. Not norms are the fish paste & lettuce porridge and seafood tofu soup; both were not bad either. The food are pretty good so far and shall return. Apparently, a new eatery that's strictly for takeout and delivery apps usage, even after the pandemic ends, and more of a ghost kitchen. The inside of this business is basically a noodle house size kitchen. Located at a street bend/corner, look for a Chinese restaurant sign that doesn't even say "China Delight". The front looks like a closed business, but it's next door to a liquor store. Parking may be tough in this residential neighborhood but there's a mini parking lot.

Although the sign which is never lit says something else, this IS actually China Delight
    Kim F.

Don't judge a book with no cover or incorrect title, judge by the quality of the menu and dishes...and this hidden little local neighborhood gem does have fantastic food and they are open late! We have come here twice now and will continue to frequent this place...just note that it is pick up only, no inside dining or service. Highly recommend checking online for their menu and either calling in your orders or placing orders in person if you happen to be nearby.

Once they started calling tables, it moved really fast. When we were seated, we ended up sharing a table with two other groups of two. I actually didn't mind it at all because there was still enough space between everyone to have privacy. It also made the experience feel more social -- I ended up chatting with the people to my right and left about the food. Everything we ordered was really good. Their popular dry fried chicken absolutely lived up to the hype and was probably my favorite thing on the menu... besides the cherry pork. I feel like nobody talks about the cherry pork enough! It was SO good -- kind of like a sweet-and-sour pork without the sour. I dipped it in soy sauce because I loved the sweet and salty combo together. The dumplings were also really good. The wrapper was thin and delicious, but my boyfriend said he wished they had a little more protein filling and less leek. The green beans are always a hit. The only thing I probably wouldn't order again was the black bean sauce noodles. Maybe I just expected a different flavor, but to me they honestly tasted like regular lo mein. I'm also not a huge noodle person in general, so I'd probably skip them next time and order something else instead. Forgot to mention their prices are on point! Definitely recommend to any of the tourists. I think the weight is definitely worth it and I love being able to take home my leftovers and eating them for lunch and dinner the next day.

"Everything!" That's all one needs to say. At the entrance, clearly marked are signs reading, "Reservations" and "Walk-ins". Since we had reservations, we waited only a few minutes to get seated at the bar. The bar makes it easy to converse with your partner and to peer over as the fire from the range springs up from the kitchen. Our server brought us some "Free Bites" of roasted peanuts and smashed cucumbers. She was such a pleasant lady with quite the wit that made me laugh between courses. We ordered a full bottle of Negori sake. Note: if you do not finish the sake bottle, they cannot pack it to go for you, so drink up! Obviously, we couldn't order everything on the menu. For our first visit, we definitely wanted their special dish, Fried Squab. It was delicious! The meat was moist and the dipping salt with Sichuan peppercorn paired perfectly! Just don't focus too much on the visual... the head and claws. Hot Mustard Jellyfish Salad ~ I loved the "crunch" of the jellyfish and the hot mustard marinade was just spicy enough to start a slow burn up the nose. Beef Chow Fun Noodles ~ Delicious and so very savory. I was amazed at how flavorful this dish was without being salty. Clay Pot Rice w/Chinese Sausage & Bacon ~ Loved how the entire pot was seasoned nicely. The sauce did not only sit at the top, but penetrated deep down into the rice. XO Escargot w/Milkbread ~ I've only had French Escargot and these are just as good, if not better! Fish Fragrant Eggplant ~ Another savory and very umami dish. Red Bean Shaved Ice ~ Always a refreshing dessert. Dig in for the surprise in the center. We had such a nice, cozy dinner here. Even while at the bar, we never felt for lack of space. They paced the dishes out perfectly, so there was always room to eat and enjoy. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.

For the broccoli beef, the broccoli was nicely cooked and the meat was very tender. We really enjoyed the 606 house fried rice. It wasn't overly fried like most places and felt fresh. The mixture of proteins was also tasteful. Now for the pork dumplings, the presentation was nice and also tasted great with nice hints of shrimp.
