This is in a complex that I visit often, and I thought I would try. The reviews were mixed but went ahead. I called for pickup and placed an order for vegetable fried rice and to make it spicy. This place had shared and enough parking. The store is easily accessible. As I entered the store, it looked like a big place but not used for dinein anymore. The staff was preparing the takeout orders, they were ready with my order, and the ambiance is okay inside. The vegetable fried rice that I ordered was packed in a box. I like the packing. The fried rice tasted really good, and it was made as per request, which is spicy. I don't see the problem that the other reviewers had to me. The fried rice was made well. The rice could have been cooked a little more. Otherwise, I like fried rice. I also ordered the same day takeout in another Chinese place but but everyone liked this version of the fried rice because it was made spicier. I would definitely try more items in this place and post my feedback on those. read more

I'll never come back here again. Not even 2 months ago I paid for wonton soup, which was under $10, and they accepted my card. This has happened several times. This time around, the owner pointed to the sign that said they charge 3% on credit cards and that they don't accept cash. I told her that I purchased the same item before and my card was accepted. She said that was impossible! I said no it wasn't because I know what happened. In other words, the owner is rude and basically calls the customer a liar. There's much better food out there anyway, like Nice Chinese restaurant in Downingtown. They also accept credit cards for under $10 items. read more

I've ordered from here on and off for close to 10years (maybe more, I've lived in the area since 1999, just not sure if it was always China Chef). I've always found it to be a little too greasy/oily. Tonight we decided to try something new, so we went for the Thai Mei Fun, Kaeng Keiw Warn Green Curry (shrimp), chicken w mixed vegs, and crab rangoons. I'm fairly disappointed in the spice level. The Thai mei fun is bland at best, and the green curry is mildly spicy. I expected a Thai dish to burn my taste buds off and this falls incredibly short. They were out of white rice, which isn't a big deal as we generally don't eat much if any of it, but they also took 0$ off. Would have been nice to get some money off or at least 1 small fried rice, SOMETHING. read more

So the hubby and I were shopping and decided to stop in for a easy late lunch. It was a Sunday and no one in there sitting, but a few people coming in to get pick up orders. I ordered the Singapore Mei fun w/shrimp and hubby got the combo of Kung Pao chicken with pork fried rice and eggroll. The place looked barren, nothing on the tables, not even napkins or soy sauce, but everything was clean at least. I was not expecting my singapore noodles to be heavy with yellow curry, i guess I've had more soy sauce based noodles with less curry. I personally do not like things too spicy- but amazingly I loved this! It was just on the edge of spicy with fresh red pepper chopped in the noodles, and I literally had a shrimp with every bite! Chock full of shrimp- and they were cooked well and fresh. I may have liked more veggies in the mix, esp more onion, but honestly it was delightful, and now I can breath even better from the spice helping my sinuses! lol My husband loved his Kung pao - again fresh chopped red pepper, plenty of peanuts, not too many of carrots (seems many places load up on carrots and it takes away from the dish) but he felt it was a great balance of heat and veggies/meat. He even felt it was a good eggroll, that was fresh and crunchy, not greasy. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is the bland atmosphere, and drinks were very expensive. a 16 oz coke for 1.75 or a 2 liter for 2.95- but no glasses or cups to save the money. I think for the future this will be a "to go order pick up" from us. But we did enjoy the quality of the food. Will stop by when we are around again. read more

This spot had a great Covid-19 safe distancing set up for food pickup! To add to that the food was very good. Our first time ordering and we were super pleased. China Chef is around the block from my house and has been consistently good every time I've ordered. I'm not sure what the bad reviews are about, as I've never had a problem here. The only thing I can potentially see is that service is a bit rushed, but it appears they get slammed around dinner time. Overall it's an okay restaurant for basic Chinese food. If you're looking for higher quality I would travel a little bit further near Malvern or Paoli. read more

In the 15 years of living in the area, this is the first time we ever tried this restaurant and I feel like I've been missing out this whole time! Food is made promptly and delicious. I don't ever have to worry about being let down because they make the food fresh! Their fried rice has more vegetables than their local competitors and their dumplings have the perfect of meat to dough ratio. We only ordered lunch here as they have a loyalty program: buy 10, get 1 free. I look forward to placing an order knowing there is good food on the way. I'm still not sure if delivery is available or not. No one there seems to be sure either! read more

I called in an order at this restaurant and the person on the phone keep hanging up on me because he could not read the menu. I went to the restaurant today to explain what happened to me with an order I was trying to make over the phone. She kept trying to make excuses for him and I told her that there was no excuse for hanging up on a customer. She just looked at me as if I was irritating her. She just kept trying to tell me how it could have been crowded at the time of my call. ive been eating here for years and I always felt a little sick after eating it, so I never finished the whole thing. This Sunday was a very new but disturbing experience. I went on the previous night ordered my usual general tsos chicken then got crab ragoons. Again I didn't finish it. Today I re heated it, I was about 80% finished when I bit on something hard. I spit it out and found a HUMAN FINGER NAIL! I called her immediately and explained what happened. She tells me that she can't do anything unless she sees it. So I went back and she tries to tell me that it doesn't mean anything because the food is almost gone. I explained that I didn't finish it last night and re heated it. So she took the nail from me and tired to say it's a woman's nail that was cut off. She then proceeds to tell me that she needs to keep the nail and my food. The customer service here is appalling. I ordered the panang chicken and an egg roll and instead was given two containers of pork fried rice, only realizing it when I got home. When I called for my money back, the rude lady yelled at me saying the panang chicken was at the spot and that I needed to come pick it up. I said I wanted money back and wasn't leaving my house again that day since I live 20 minutes away and it's pouring out. She said to bring the rice tomorrow (So they can resell it..?!) and I'd get my money back then. Absolutely love this place! I always get their chicken pad thai, and it's the best I've had anywhere, even better than Thai restaurants. If you ask for something made a certain way, they are more than happy to do it for you. Everything I've tried has been good, and it's very reasonably priced. This restaurant does not put the customer first. I asked for a small modification and was told several times, LOUDLY, that they don't do it. It was just replacing rice with rice noodles. When I was told to order a full order of rice noodles I agreed, but after thinking about it I called back and cancelled. When I did, they were loud and hung up on me before I finished talking.
