This isn't the kind of fancy authentic sit down Chinese restaurant some reviewers appear to be looking for. I always get the same thing sweet and sour chicken 2 egg rolls and pork or chicken fried rice and Singapore Mei Fun. I haven't been disappointed and we've gotten take out from here for 10 years. Ordered the beef with black pepper sauce, hot and sour soup, fantail shrimp, edamame, pizza roll, and Chinese pizza. The roll was basic but good, and filled with cheese and pizza sauce. The edamame was standard, no salt on it though. The Chinese pizza was not what I received...I got scallion pancakes and those aren't on the menu. The hot and sour soup was okay, I added hot sauce and garlic powder. The fantail shrimp were inedible!!! They were very huge but it was all breading, the shrimp were completely over cooked and hard while also not deveined and the oil tasted old and rancid. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had, hands down. Their online menu pricing is incorrect. My coworker ordered a vegetarian dish, there was a piece of chicken in it. The lo mien was AWFUL. Fried rice? It was oily brown rice with a couple of peas. My 2 coworkers and I ate a couple of bites before throwing it in the trash. The chicken was gristly, my coworker's meal was misrepresented as Szechuan chicken (oily mess with onions). The best part?! 2 of us got sick! Quite literally the worst Chinese food I have ever had, including Dollar Tree lobster egg rolls. The vegetarian dish had chicken in it, the Szechuan chicken was nothing but oil and onions, and all three of us threw it in the trash rather than continue past three bites each. Awful! read more

I love Mister Wok. They're our go-to Chinese takeout restaurant! Everything is always tasty, and as ordered. We like to save the plastic takeout containers for reuse because they are fairly structurally sound. Mister Wok rocks for all of their dishes (though I prefer Okinii's orange chicken personally). I usually order the sesame chicken or hot and sour soup! Or both!! Hot and sour soup is the best I've ever had, but this is pretty much exactly what you'd expect generally. read more

Love their lunch. I get the curry chicken. Spicy and has a good amount of chicken. Love the fried rice comes with it. Lunch is never complete without out their egg roll which is always delicious. They did have some issues about a year or 2 ago where the food was not consistent but the last 10 times I ordered it has been delicious! read more

My wife and I tried this place for some American-Chinese food dishes. Beef & Broccoli, General Tso's Chicken, Won Ton Soup. It was tasty going down but man did we get sick the other way out! We paid the price that night and the morning after. We won't be returning and are very weary to try any Chinese food places in the area after eating here and seeing the other poor reviews nearby. We live in the West Chester/Downingtown area and after trying nearly every local Chinese/American restaurant over the past 5 years, Mister Wok is our favorite. I tend to judge Chinese take-outs on a few different items that I typically order: -Lo Mein (Pork/Chicken/Beef/Shrimp) -Egg Rolls -WonTon Soup -Chicken w/ Mixed Vegetables -General Tso's Chicken Mister Wok nails every one of these. The vegetables in the dishes always seem really fresh, and the egg rolls are just your typical good tasting egg rolls. I was amazed at how bad some of the egg rolls are at places in this area - some are either ridiculously salty, mushy inside, etc. So thankfully Mister Wok has that down. I can't comment on Steve's remarks about getting sick as we haven't experienced issues here, but if we ever do I'll be sure to update. I guess it's just that the other places in the area are so bad, that we continue to go back to Mister Wok. But on that note, when I order chinese, I always feel like there is a "risk" being taken because let's face it....these places typically aren't exactly examples of cleanliness. I actually think Mister Wok is pretty clean looking inside. Head over to China King in West Chester and then go to Mister Wok's. You'll never look back.. read more

I would like to give it a 3.5 opposed to a 4. The thing is, Downingtown doesn't have great chinese, but it does have one pretty good spot. Mister Wok's does a fine job, but understand going ito it that you'll get nothing exceptional. I am a big fan of the General Tso's, as it has a nice bit of sweetness and some heat (I always order extra spicy). It's mostly clean, and well, it's exactly what you'd picture when you think of, "Quick take-out chinese place" I don't have any complaints, but I don't have massive praise. We have been coming to Mr Wok for years and it has always been very good. We always order the same thing - shrimp fried rice, shrimp with lobster sauce, general Tao chicken and egg rolls. A month ago we had the worst meal and chalked it up to being a weekday and a new chef. Everyone has a bad night now and then but last night (Friday) we ordered again and it is now a consistently horrible restaurant. The rice is not fried, the lobster sauce is watery and egg rolls were raw and undercooked. The chicken was over cooked and came with no sauce. So sad. We will not go back. read more

My family and I have been coming here a few years now. I go to dialysis in Thorndale and one of the nurses told me about this place. We love it!!! The food is fresh and delicious. We hadn't ordered Chinese food in years and were craving it the other night. Wow, I feel bad saying this, but it was the worst food I've ever had. It was never very good, but this was by far beyond awful. We ordered extra spicy Singapore Mei Fun which is generally a very flavorful curry type dish; this was a bland tasteless mess of too many noodles and not enough shrimp or pork and 0 chicken. The flavor was intense in all of the wrong ways with something similar to raw ginger and 0 curry. It was just bad. The bone in spare ribs were super greasy and also flavorless. really wanted to like this place. They are super fast and more courteous than your average Chinese take out but the food is so "blah" that after several tries, we won't be back. As others have comments the sweet and sour chicken is bad enough to be considered unacceptable. The brown sauce - and there is only one that covers everything - has an unpleasant tang and is far too oily (yeah -- I know -- it's supposed to be. But there's a line and they crossed it). Chicken from chicken and broccoli was overcooked and tough. Eggrolls are tiny, but otherwise taste wasn't off. Pretty standard take out. At least they have fresh hot mustard. So many places only carry the packets. Have ordered multiple times and although it's not the best I have ever had, in this area it's decent. The ribs are nice and juicy seasoned properly. The egg rolls are usually crisp and flavorful. I don't get the complaints. Not saying anyone is lying but I've tried all the chinese places in Downingtown, Thorndale, Guthriesville area, including when a new one opens. This is by far the best around. I've been eating here twice a month (lunch mostly though, so maybe that's the key) for well over 10 years and almost never have a wrong order. I've also never had what I'd consider a bad meal. Occasionally, the shrimp in their singapore mei fun smells a bit too shrimpy and sometimes its really spicy, but their Kung Pao and Hunan Chicken are always good. Consider this - they probably serve 200 people a day. How many complaints are there out of those 10,000 over the past year? Just doing the math will tell you something. Complainers always complain. People that like them don't necessarily want everyone eating there because it's tougher to get food on a Friday. read more

We order here regularly and they always make my order perfect - chicken with broc NO OIL - if you get it without the oil it is so much better and easier on the stomach too. And, it is much cleaner than most Chinese restaurants. I agree with the other poster regarding it's cleanliness compared to others in the area and in WC, especially China King in WC. Just moved and wanted to try the closest Chinese place. The woman who answered had a very hard time understanding what we wanted to order, we had to repeat our order more than a couple of times. 35minutes after placing our order, we went to pick it up, only it wasn't finished. Finally 50 minutes after placing our order for two people it was done. The fried rice was clumpy, hard and smelled funny. Very hard to even tell there was rice in it. The fried wontons were ok but were not what we ordered. The sesame tofu had an odd texture to it. I specifically ordered a spring roll without shrimp and i received a shrimp spring roll. Well, I saw this place had low ratings but I just wanted chicken rice soup so ratings really shouldn't matter. I mean, it's just soup. I called and the woman who answered was fairly rude. this used to be my favorite chinese joint when i was in high school (2 years ago) and since then they have been going downhill. I ordered a sesame chicken combo today (what i usually get). i brought it home and ate about 3 bites ... I got the WORST stomache ache i had thus far this year and i had to make myself throw it back up. I'm not sure if they're using different recipe but this was a disgrace of 10$ spent.
