Just ate dinner here for the first time while in the area. Excellent chicken hibachi dinner with vegetables, requested brown rice, it's purple FYI. Dinner included a yummy side salad and miso soup! Excellent Japanese food. I ordered the O-Toro (Fatty Tuna) because it was on special. The chefs torched it as requested. Unfortunately the torch didn't acheive the char I was looking for, but the tuna was still very good. The pieces were smooth amd buttery with ample fat. I found them just a little more firm than I had remembered from a previous tasting of fatty tuna. The bento box had well executed shrimp with a savoury sweet teriyaki sauce. I was not dissapointed: super cool uni-shots, outstanding himachi, blue fin toro, kampachi, & king salmon to name a few. All extremely fresh, expertly and creatively prepared, with generous portions. I could wax eloguent and how much we enjoyed the evening, how we are treated as customers (beyond reproach), or the sheer exileration of wondering what tasty morsel of bait my taste buds would experience next - but i think you get the idea. Stopped in here for another lunch and opted for a different lunch special. My dining partner decided on the chicken teriyaki and I chose the shrimp tempura. Each special came with a miso soup, a small salad, and a bento box that contained our choice, plus rice, plus three deep fried shumai, and three pieces of California roll. We stumbled upon this place after both having a sushi craving and wanting to try some place new. After a little research, we decided on Murasaki. The place was nicely decorated and looked modern. Our waitress was extremely friendly and even described all of the different fish that was included when the sushi boat came out. First off, the price was phenomenal. For less than $60 for both of us, we got the sushi boat which came with 12 pieces of sashimi, 12 pieces of nigiri, and two full rolls. The miso soup and salad that came before the boat came out were both delicious and a great start to the meal. All of the fish on the boat tasted amazingly fresh. The salmon was buttery and melted in your mouth, the tuna was light and full of flavor. The rolls included (I believe a rainbow and samurai roll) nicely accompanied the sashimi/nigiri. The only complaint I have about this place was that I think we were skimped on variety of the sushi. It appears they only used 2 different types of fish on the nigiri, and, after looking at some other posts, it looks like it usually comes with more. We did come late, about an hour before closing, so I'm not sure if some fish were already wrapped for the night. However, when it comes to freshness, taste, and price for what you get, Murasaki is an incredible place to check out, and I'm looking forward to dining here again. read more

Bento box with Tofu $17 - CRAZY!! So this was our (my girls and I) go to place for bento boxes, actually tofu teriyaki bento boxes. We love their food and the time spent with my teens over lunch. Recently, my girls went to order for take out and they were told the chef couldn't do it. Mind you in the past, they charged us $1-2 extra for tofu and we paid because we enjoyed it so much. This time, they just said they couldn't because: 1- the chef was too busy with other lunch orders 2- it's more costly for them to do the tofu (Even though they always charged up) 3- she said we could get there regular tofu teriyaki dish (doesn't make sense if they make the regular and not offer the bento box) When I asked to speak to a manager or owner, she went offline and came back and said they would charge us $17-18 for each box. That's absurd! It's tofu and they charge $10 for chicken! Definitely not willing to accommodate the vegetarians or those with allergies. Murasaki has changed owner - EVERYTHING CHANGE FOR THE BETTER !!! I have tried this restaurant 2 years ago, and it is not down-to-the-drain bad but definitely not one that I will ever think of patronizing again. Until most recently, my wife and I went for a quick eat-and-run lunch date. What I can say is the food is amazingly good - i have to say that to give a comment like "amazingly good" on a plain-o-maki, it is a "huge" compliment as POTUS would say it (and I really mean it). The fish has to be very fresh to the point that it can be discerned in the maki-wrap-about. It did not stop there, we went for a family date with our daughter on Thai entrees last weekend. Again, superb !!! Pad Thai is not too saucy, and the Thai fried rice is just as Thai as it can be, Sawadee-khrap. We are asian, we knew how a good fried rice can really be. Finally, I went alone for the ultimate test - sushi. I am very sensitive to sushi, and I can really tell if it is good one. I have yet to find a decent, not to mention great sushi place in PA (I have tried some in Philly and around chester county area). There are all sub-par to my standard, some are eatable if I really want a sushi kick. A good sushi restaurant should be judged by their tuna (just my opinion). Man !!! the tuna is superb - they provide the supreme cut. I order a sushi entree, I relish every single pieces of those - it is so good that i order another ala carte (King Salmon). In the end, I have a good conversation with the sushi chef, Michael who is also the owner. I come to learn that the chef is a man of integrity. His story (I admire and respect virtuous person) about how he sources and prepares the meal is very commendable (he sources his fish in Philly, NYC and Maryland very early in the morning). All his fishes once start serving will never go beyond 3 days - to maintain the freshness - and yeah, he will discard all the unsold fishes after 3 days. I enjoy his story about how he enjoy his work and happy to see people enjoy his preparations. He is very passionate about his job and not only for the money which I would say is a rare gem for humanity in the lustful torrent of materialism. I had been wanting to go here for a while and it did not disappoint. The staff are very friendly. The menu is a nice combination of sushi and Thai dishes. By far, Murasaki has the freshest menu in the area. I love when they offer the very uncommon Bronzino appetizer. It's the best sushi offering I have ever experienced, and you can taste the care and quality of this starter. The main courses are delectable, and if you have room..., the deserts are great too.
