Starters: Brussel Sprouts: 5/5 delicious and made well. The skin lightly fried but not charred. The dish balance with pieces of bacon and the cheese plays well with the balsamic vinegar. Rib rolls: 4/5 The shredded short ribs could be a bit more moist and flavorful but pairs very well the horseradish aioli. Chicken Alfredo: 5/5 likely on the of the best Alfredo I have had. Grilled chicken was perfect not too dry and flavorful and the noodles cooked to perfection. The sauce was flavorful but not too heavy with cream like most places. Meat Lover Pizza: 4/5 Solid pizza! Well balanced and not overly salty. French Onion Patty Melt: 5/5 Perfect medium cook and delicious. Not too salty. Onions savory and sweet. Perfect crunch of the bread. Chicken Caprese: 4/5 It was good. Pesto brought a nice brightness to balance the heaviness of the fried chicken. Overall: 5/5 a great place that delivers well on their food. We've typically eaten downtown when visiting the area but honestly, if you aren't up for Italian, there's not much else. My wife found this place and we will definitely be back. So very good. The Naked Olive was a recommendation for our trip to Kennet Square. We dined early, 5pm. Over the next hour the restaurant grew to a busy humm. Our friendly server Mackenzie, started us off with black and green olives and oil, with warm bread. So soft and yummy we ate all of it. We ordered the short rib egg roll. What an unusual presentation. The bread like roll was cut horizontally on the diagonal. Very filling. We shared the arugula grape salad and pesto gnocchi. My family was EXTREMELY pleased with our experience at the Naked Olive, a family owned Mediterranean restaurant in Kennett Square. From the hostesses to the waitress to the chef to the owner, the service was great all around. The restaurant itself, in addition, is absolutely beautiful. We loved the cozy, yet sophisticated and earthy vibes. There's enough variable space that you can get a different experience each time without feeling like you're sitting on top of someone else. They also had a lovely heated patio space. Our waitress, Hannah, was lovely. She was super attentive and was even friendly enough to laugh at our jokes (whether they were funny or not). She was also kind enough to share all the specials and was attentive to every need. Major compliments to the chef here. We had 0 complaints about the food and it was all beautiful. We ordered the fried mozzarella ($13) and spanakopita ($10) as appetizers and both were delish. For entrees we ordered the steak frites ($39), braised lamb shank ($40), seafood cioppino ($38), and the sea bass special. The food was phenomenal and presented so well. Our first visit to The Naked Olive was very nice. We shared the short rib egg rolls with another couple. They were delicious and 1/2 of an egg roll is plenty as a starter. I ordered the short rib ravioli with a cream sauce. Very good! My husband ordered the pear & Gorgonzola pasta with a cream sauce topped with finely chopped walnuts. Wonderful! Party of 12 on a Friday night. Seated in the back room with another large party of 26-30 people. The place is quite loud with poor acoustics. Not the place for a romantic dinner out. Our server was friendly and patient with the large party. A bit lacking in service towards the end of the meal, forgetting more water, sodas, etc. Tons of specials with all the pricing up front. I found the prices to be quite high for the servings. Just because you offer BYO doesn't allow the costs to skyrocket but they are not struggling for business. Bread on the table upon arrival not super fresh. No one really raved about their meals. The appetizers were solid but adding a couple deep fried lemon slices with the calamari was a first. First time here, four of us for dinner. We had the Spaghetti De La Nona, Kennett Square Mushroom Melt, Grilled Whole Bronzino and a Classic Caesar Salad. Everything was very good . The Mushroom Melt was the hit o, the evening. We took half of one home to have the next day, and it was great warmed up in the microwave. The spaghetti was good, and I am not sure if they make their own red sauce or if it was canned, it was good but not the best in the area. This is a BYOB, so if you want a drink, make sure you bring your own. For dessert, I had a citrus infused crème brûlée it was very good, it's not on the menu, but it was a special that night. Having read many of the 4-5 star reviews I had high expectations for this restaurant. The food was just so-so. Arugula Grape salad was overdressed and the greens were limp. Wow! We reserved a table for 10 at 5:00. Glad we went early as the place was packed when we left! Wonderful service! BYOB all were charged a $1.00 for drink fee. Weather cancelled our plans at Longwood so we stopped at The Naked Olive for dinner before heading back home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The food was excellent, nicely plated and the service was what you might find in a much more expensive restauraunt. Stopped in after a Yelp search. The NO came up under "local favorites" and "top rated restaurants" for the area. The NO was also fairly close to my hotel which was a plus. Plenty of on site parking which seems to be unusual around here. The restaurant is a BYOB so no alcohol is served but you can bring your own. I had the raspberry tea which was delightful almost addictive. From the greater/hostess to the servers the service was exceptional. There was a birthday party going on and a fairly busy nice but I still got (3) refills. I chose the Santorini By the Sea as my supper. It was amazing. The hint of mustard in the garlic and was Devine. It added a finishing complexity that was tantalizing. The large shrimp were good but the mussels were delectable. Excellent meal and the juice was excellent for soaking the bread in. Oh my!!!!!! So good. Now the birthday party peaked my interest and my sugar cravings went wild so I was enticed into having a delicious lemon mousse cake. It was delicious. Very light and creamy. We had an array of items but our favorite were the chef's board (taste of Italy), the spaghetti pomodoro, and the pesto gnocchi. The mozzarella sticks and bread were also amazing! The pasta was very light and the sauces had great flavor. Everything we ate tasted fresh and made with high quality ingredients, even the olive oil for the bread. This restaurant had very outstanding service and ambiance. When I walked in here, I was impressed about the decor. We ate outside at the nice tables. I noticed they had heaters for the winter, blinds to close if it got to sunny (they closed the blinds for us), and a plastic covering to pull down on case it got to windy. Someone designing that restaurant really thought about it. If I thought about opening up a restaurant, I hire the restaurant's designer. The service was impeccable. Brittany, our servers, was outstanding. She could not have been any better. Therefore, the service and the ambiance was a five out of five. We met the owners of the restaurant. They are very nice people, who greeted us- How many owners greet patrons? About the food- for an appetizer we had the octopus, in a tasty sauce. This was the best thing I had here. Brittany brought out bread. On its own, is was average bread that you get at a upscale restaurant, but with the olive oil, it was good. Then, we had the lamb chops. I thought they were average, but I am used to going to outstanding Greek restaurants. For the main course, we ordered the fish, which was salty and served with rice. I had half of the fish and tasted the rice. For the other main course, we had the braised short rib in a so-so sauce, unseasonal asparagus, and I had spoonful of the mashed potatoes. Maybe I am picky about my mashed potatoes, because my father made the best mashed potatoes. Braised short ribs had a crispy crunch on the outside and savory on the inside. Margarita flatbread wasn't overly done. Sauce has a hint of sweetness. The rack of lambs were oh-so-yummy. Not gamey. WOW what a great restaurant in Kennett Square!! Probably one of my favorites (though I haven't explored the area yet too much). Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The inside of the restaurant was absolutely beautiful. I loved their decor and we got to sit at one of these huge tables in the middle of the restaurant and it had like these trees/branches coming out of it, very cool. Everything that we ordered was wonderfully cooked and tasted so yummy. Normally I would not have ordered or tried octopus but my friend's dad got it and told me to try it and oh my it was delicious. Very pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is on the pricier side, but with the quality of the food you're getting, it matches the price point. Ate here for the first time tonight and will definitely be going back! First, let me start with ambiance. It looked very pretty (see pictures) and wasn't loud inside. Nice place! Next, let me talk about service. When we went in there was a little of a wait so the hostess offered us to sit in the outdoor seating area. I was skeptical because it was a little chilly out but the hostess said she could take me to show me the area and if I didn't like it we could come right back in. Turns out, the outdoor area was lovely and had heaters, which she gave us a table right next to one. Onto the food! First, you should know it's BYOB, which is fine, but bring your wine! For an appetizer, we had these amazing lamb lollipops. So tender and tasty! For my entree I had the Sachetti which was a roasted pear and gorgonzola stuffed pasta sautéed with a roasted walnut sauce and apple cider reduction. Highly recommend! The consistency of the sauce is like a thick Alfredo, but the taste is a mix of a little sweet and more savory and is just so good. My other half had a chicken Caesar salad and it was huge! Also very good (but it's just salad so I won't go on about it except to say he couldn't finish it). Dessert was also amazing. I had an apple blossom which was like a fritter filled with fresh cut cooked apples and caramel with a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream (this was one of the specials) and my other half had a lemon raspberry tart (also a special). The naked olive is BYOB, and the selection at the liquor store next door is sad, so if you'd like a nice bottle of wine to go with dinner, don't expect to find it next door. However, the food was wonderful! The restaurant is jumpin' and for good reason. But the staff handle the volume expertly. Fresh seafood a plenty, olives everywhere. A foodies dream. There are less adventurous dishes for those not quite ready to try grilled octopus or sea bass. (Though those are both PHENOMENAL options) Everything was wonderful, though I was disappointed that my broccolini and carrots weren't seasoned at all under my sea bass, just blanched, not even the extra lemon on the plate could bring them to life. Everything is light, bright, and fresh like you want your Mediterranean food to be. We dined at the Naked Olive this past weekend and enjoyed our dinner for the most part. I think with a few tweaks to the food it could be a fabulous place but I'll get to that later. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and we were promptly seated by the hostess. The environs were great and worthy of five stars. Our server, Britney, could not have been better. She (or maybe the octopus but it's honestly hard to compare the two) was the best part of our dinner. Britney was super friendly and quick to refill our drinks. She was one of the most outgoing, happy servers we've ever had. Another five stars for the service. Our meal started off with some complimentary bread and olive oil which was good enough. Maybe they could make the olive oil a bit spicier but either way it was no biggie. We started off with the octopus shareable which was one of the best octopi we've ever had and we eat lots and lots of it. It was that good. It was tender, perfectly cooked, and served atop a delicious lemony sauce that really complemented it. To the side of it were some greens and something that looked and tasted like guacamole which was good enough but seemed like an odd compliment. We also enjoyed the lamb lollipops which were served with tsatziki sauce. They were juicy, charcoaley, perfectly cooked, and had we stopped here we would have had the perfect meal. The shareables were five stars to me. Our entrees, while not technically bad, we're much, much less of a success. I had the whole (well it was missing the head) branzino that was kind of meh. As much as I love fish I was underwhelmed by the dish except for the crispy skin. The fish itself was slightly overcooked, more than slightly over salted, and served atop a bland, tasteless rice pilaf and undercooked broccolini. I would not order it again. Our other entree, the short rib, was slightly better but i don't think I'd order it again either. It featured two generous portions of slightly dry, over salted beef atop a mound of average tasting mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus that were devoid of any flavor whatsoever, and a decent sauce. It was palatable but disappointing. I'd give three stars to the entrees. My advice to the friendly owner who stopped by our table at the end of the meal would be to have the chef be much less heavy handed with salt, and to retool the entrees so they feature better sides and incorporate things that are in season. And then you'd have a perfect place with perfect food to match the perfect service. read more
