    Morning vibes
    David G.

Had a really filling and delicious brunch. The salvadorian breakfast was a great balance of different things. And the pupusas were up there with the best I've ever had. They treated us like family so the service was key as well. We had never tried this place and it did not disappoint. Were glad we found it. The vibes were family driven and we really enjoyed our breakfast/ lunch here at this place. They also had plenty of soups and some mexican food items. Something I will look forward too.

We walked in for the 1st time, and it looked clean, but the window seal was dirty, dead fly, spiderweb, and the menue dirty. We were going to order the food ( yes, even though it didn't look clean). The guy that was getting ready to take our order said, " The prices have gone up a little " me. Ok, how much is the carne encebollada?" He said 19. Ok, that's not a little on the menue it said 11.50. That's 8. Dollars more than what it's saying here and on the website. We walked out the portal was 14. We are not eating here. All of the prices are on the website and in person.

Tomato sauce that accompanied the pupusas. It came in a bag, but we poured it into dippng bowls.

The staff were terrific, but the food was not nearly as impressive. We tried the azada and the pork pupusas. They were large, but there was very little filling (nearly nonexistent) and they were extremely greasy. The tomato sauce that accompanies them was delicate and I would return for that any time. However, the slaw was not pleasant. We also tried the azada burrito "wet" (covered in green sauce.) The green sauce was sadly lacking flavor. The burrito was filled primarily with rice and a little very tough and very, very salty meat. The radishes were fresh and crisp and very much the star of this show.

    Shrimp soup and rebuelta pupusa!

It's divey, casual, and I had to swat away a large mosquito since I was sitting next to a large open window but the FOOD shined. I got the Caldo de Camaron (Shrimp soup) and a Rebueltas Pupusa. I didn't realize the soup also came with 2 thick tortillas and a plate of mixed rice so it obviously became too much food for me. But the important part was the soup with the huge shrimp and the cheesy pupusa, which came with a jar of pickled veggies that cut down the richness and went well with everything. It was SO satisfying. The soup was creamy, had large chunks of veggies, and juicy shrimp. Definitely a winner. Would love to come back to try more different soups, pupusas and maybe the breakfast!

The pupusas here are very good. I usually get the bean and cheese ones. The prices are reasonable too

It was beautiful inside, I was excited to try their food. We went for Happy hours, their margaritas was buy one get one free. For the price it was good amount. When we got seated it was just the two of us and another couple. The server took our orders right away. Ordered the chicken, beef and shrimp empanadas and shrimp ceviche. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! At this point it was just the two of us and the server. Waited roughly 45 minutes for our food because it looks like the server decided to take a lunch while we wait for our food. The server did not check on us or apologize to us that it was taking a while for the food to come out until she saw the frustration on our face and inform us the food is almost ready! 45 minutes later, she brought out the empanadas and I received two chicken and one shrimp... it was OK with the help of the sauces that was given. The shrimp ceviche was actually good, the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Here's the thing, the menu does not have prices on it and when we received the bill, the ceviche was $22! For the amount and for what it was, it was not worth it. The whole experience was horrible.

Upon first bite, I did not like the carne. IMO I don't like bell pepper and that's the first thing I tasted, so that overpowered my palate from being to taste the carne. My boyfriend however enjoyed it. He said it had good flavor and was tasty. We then tried the jamon y queso. My favorite of the 3 we tried and probably the only one I ate. I like ham and I like cheese so I enjoyed it. Since this was the only one I liked, my boyfriend let me eat all of this (since we were splitting it). I like the saltiness you get from the ham and the texture of the melted cheese makes the empanada melt in your mouth. I did not like the elote. I was expecting something different. And again I tasted bell pepper. My boyfriend ate this one. He said he likes how it had a lot of corn and there was some type of sauce inside that brought of the flavor which he enjoyed. The ambiance of where this is located is cool. It's located in the Steel Craft and we were there for the game so it has a great atmosphere.

We tried their lomito saltado and arrocito norteno. They didn't provide any aji sauce for the lomito (surprising) but were quick to bring some when we requested it. The beef was very tender! So although definitely more expensive than more casual Peruvian spots, we could taste the quality. I also loved the arrocito norteno, as I love seafood paella, and this was basically that. The scallops and octopus were so good! This place is a bit more luxe than the other Peruvian places I've tried before, which is reflected in their price. Although we were there in the day, I could imagine this place being a cute date spot at night. Glad to try this main stay in Long Beach and would recommend for a bit more upscale meal (although no pressure to dress nice at all, just seems like that vibe).

Aji on 4th Streets Retro Row delivered the goods as my Wife & I had journeyed down to Peru in 2024 and from Lima, Cusco and Puno. The flavours encompassed in the dishes we'd ordered which were the Lomito Saltado and the Aji De Gallina were as authentic here as what we dined on back in 2024 which certifies them as premier purveyors of Peruvian cuisine. Drinks wise, they had Maracuya juice which is their local version of passionfruit in that region as well as Chicha Morada which is their Purple Corn beverage composed of cinnamon, cloves, fresh lime juice and when in Peru, they'll utilize pineapple husks for flavouring. It apparently is more popular in Peru than Coca-Cola and after a few sips you'll inevitably see why. Next up when I return will be the Causa trio, in the meanwhile this establishment comes heavily recommended from someone who has traveled to Peru as they hit the nail on the head with their offerings.
