We only went for the 3-6 happy hour, but we went several times because the wings and shrimp were delicious. Also a huge plus was that the owner hangs around the bar and talks (and hangs out)with everybody that comes in. Try and not go here for breakfast. I went here with my family in the morning because every other place in the area was packed with a 40 minute wait. There is no hint of breakfast being served at this place from the outside so we believed we were lucky for being immediately welcomed and seated. Unfortunately it turned out to be mediocre at best, The food was inconsistent. Bacon is under-cooked, pancakes are over-cooked, the only thing almost perfect were the eggs all around. Also for the lighting in the restaurant, it's so dark even for a sunny morning in their back room full of tables, could barely make out my menu. I'm sure I probably would have enjoyed this restaurant if it were lunch/dinner time looking at the photos others have posted, but being desperate to find a place to eat on a Saturday morning, try and not pick this one. This was my 2nd time going to Chili Peppers, I had gone for brunch last year and loved it, so was excited to go back. We got to the restaurant about 2 hours before brunch ended. We were immediately seated by a wonderful hostess, but when she told the waitress right in front of us that she had a table, the waitress told her to get someone else to take us. So we sat there about 10 minutes before the hostess felt bad and got us drinks. Another 10 minutes after flagging down a waiter who told us someone would be with us soon, a man came out from the kitchen and asked if we had any questions about the menu, then asked what we wanted. The waitress finally came over huffing and puffing and he told her "French toast and pancakes" and walked away. Thankfully we were able to tell her our complete order. It then took about 25 minutes to get our food, and the restaurant was almost empty. Not as good of an experience as my first time where we sat at the bar and had super fast service on a busy Sunday morning. One of my favorite restuarants on the OBX. Has a pretty good regular bunch. Type of place where you either love it or hate it. Has alot of tv to watch sports while you sit at the bar. Since I enjoy a quiet meal, I must succumb to eating in the dining area and the chairs are uncomfortable. Service is always accomodating and friendly. Prices are reasonable. They do serve alot of beans and rice if its included with your entree. The desserts are ALWAYS delicious. Overall, the food is tasty. I always get the chicken quesadilla. The salsa is very good. First timers and we really liked it. The staff was very friendly made you feel welcome. The food was very good tasted like it was fresh not previously frozen and reheated as some places do now. I had there seafood tamales it was a large portion two tamales topped with white rice and crab and shrimp and cheese. A very good serving of shrimp and crab and black beans and small side of lettuce sour cream with salsa that tasted fresh and not hot or overly spicy. We ordered desert pineapple and mandarin cake, very good. Drinks were cold, husband and a beer I had there key lime margarita it was well mixed not overly sweet nor overly sour. I came here four times because (until today) it was the only place I knew to watch the World Cup games. They sent us e-mails saying they would pull down a big screen and have a showing. The first time I went, the wait and bar staff had no idea what I meant, and couldn't work the volume on the little TVs they had (the big screen was not pulled). After that, they consistently did not have the screen down, or couldn't work the volume, or seated people in front of the screen, and acted like we were jerks for expecting something, in spite of their advertising and their signs. The 2:30 timing of the games meant that a shift change happened each time we were there, and nobody ever managed to switch our waitress, which meant we were always forced to flag someone down after being ignored for 30 minutes or so. Went for breakfast on a weekend morning. I ordered a veggie omelette with Texas toast. The omelette said it would be served with seasonal vegetables. When the plate arrived, I knew I was in trouble because I could see lettuce coming out of the sides. There were a few slices of zucchini and long spears of carrots. The eggs were over cooked and there was one glob of cheese in the center. I've eaten a good many veggie omelettes in my day and never have they included lettuce or carrots...for good reason. I figured the Texas toast could console me. This was an equally big disappointment. The bread was very stale and no amount of butter and jelly could save it. I'm not too picky when it comes to my food, but this was an appallingly poor meal. read more

Chef Jim cooked for my Delaware family of 20 twice this week and the food was amazing! We had him do an Italian night and a Seafood night. The food was delicious and it was topped off by tarimusu on Italian night and fresh key lime pie tonight. Everything was delicious. We also did happy hour at chili peppers last night and had delicious smoked wings and shrimp. Great staff and atmosphere. Chef Jim was referred to me from another nurse that I work with and she told me how great his food was especially his she crab soup and bruschetta. She was right!
