Visited this little gem on a Tuesday night. I walked in and the place was pretty empty (as we know, COVID has hurt plenty of businesses especially restaurants). I was a little skeptical but we decided to take a seat AND BOY! ARE WE GLAD WE DID!! Eugenia was attentive and answered all our questions with smiles. Gabriel was extremely pleasant and awesome in explaining the specialty dishes not listed on the menu. We ordered the seafood special and we're still talking about it. It was delicious and better than some of the same dishes we've ordered at other "seafood specialty" restaurants. Lastly, Nestor the bartender, was very good at his craft and prepared us tasty drinks. They come to your table and offer you sides but never tell you the price and when you get the bill you have a big surprise of how much they have added on to your bill. The prices are too high for where it is at and the type of food that it is. They also add the gratuity which I think is a bit ridiculous. Formally Daddy O's in the Newburgh Mall, now called Chilitos. Just an excellent place for Mexican food. The service is spot on and extremely attentive. The food is delicious, served hot on a hot plate and the ingredients were fresh and well prepared. This is a hidden gem for now in a town overflowing with chain restaurants. This place was just a good find off the highway for a dinner stop. I highly recommend the fajitas. The staff was so nice and the decor was super festive. Can't believe I'd ever give this place a bad review and I thought id be a customer for life. I've eaten in about 6 times, taken out 3. All six times I ate in, food was great. 1st time I got take out it was fine, they forgot the guac but no biggie. 2nd time taking out, got 2 entrees, 1 of which was wrong (I ordered the Pollo Mexicana, got Pollo mole poblano, also didn't make a stink because it was still good). 3rd taking out which was tonight, was atrocious. I called up for delivery which is something they just started offering a couple weeks ago but they said they weren't delivering because of bad weather...there was heavy rain and tstorms about an hour earlier and actually wasn't doing anything but whatever, if they don't want to deliver they don't have to deliver. So my wife decided to go there on her way home and place the order to take home. She waited for 40 mins. The bartender checked over the food. She brought the food home. The entire order was wrong. Ordered Pollo poblano and chalupas with red sauce, got some kind of taquito with mole sauce and chalupas with green sauce. Now we had to say something. Politely called and said we didn't get anything we ordered. She (bartender) said bring it back for a refund. We said well its an inconvenience for us to have to drive back there and wait again, can we have some compensation for our troubles? No offers for any comps. We have to bring the food back for a refund then we can reorder and pay for our new meal. This made me mad because there was no attempt to make things right. I would have said well you can keep the food we gave you free of charge (since they will just throw it out anyway) and at least that would have given us the option of not having to go back out and eating what we have which isn't our first choice but at least it's free. Or they could have said bring it back and we'll comp you one of the dishes you want to reorder. Something. But no, nothing. We drove back with the food. I was very disappointed at this point, and I wanted an explanation. The bartender didn't so much as apologize. Just took us to the register to give back our money. I said to her "I'm very disappointed you didn't try to make things right"....not a word from her. Not even eye contact. I said "does it even bother you that you have unhappy customers?" ...with the most sarcastic tone she finally made half open eye contact with me and said yes it does..as if to sigh with boredom. My wife and I are still shocked at the whole experience. I understand people make mistakes. We all do. It's how you respond and make up for your mistake. We are very sorry to say we will never eat here again and will be telling all our friends the same. After leaving there, we went to Bobby Burrito to get our mex fill and got the best service. THE WORST RESTAURANT in Newburgh, once we entered their was no one to greet us we had to wait to be seated and it wasn't even packed. As we were seated we were given tortilla chips the best part of the whole visit btw. Next we ordered drinks, I got jugo de jamaica , i'm telling u right now it was more ice than juice. It didn't taste right they gave us the bottom of the machine definitely.Then they gave us quesadillas, In WHAT WORLD is a quesadilla just a tortilla, it was disgusting. Then we ordered food , prices are CRAZY, I got Bistec Montezuma, horrible ,the steak was tasteless dry, the rice dry, pretty sure the chef has no taste buds or has never tried his own food. I didn't even finish the dish. THEN CAME THE BILL, OUTRAGEOUS. We were like the food might come at 100-110 dollars but NOPE, turns out they already have tip included in the bill 24$?!!!! are u serious the service wasn't even good we felt rushed. The drinks came at 6 dollars each it's four of us, the cup was more ice than juice. I also forgot to mention that one would think when u get chips u get served with a side of salsa and GUACAMOLE but instead they wanna serve u a pinch of guacamole and price it AT 11$!!!!! we didn't even know u had to pay for that. On top of that we have to pay TO pay with card. Should've ordered Pizza. Oh we also ordered water, it looked like they grabbed the cup and stuck it in a puddle from outside. Just found this restaurant tonight on Yelp (thank you!). It's right near my neighborhood and we had no idea it existed even though they've been open for a few months. The decor is festive, service was helpful and attentive, and food was outstanding! They started us with complimentary chips and salsa, followed by a mini cheesy quesadilla type of thing. I ordered the enchiladas suiza while my husband had the bistec Montezuma, both of which were piping hot, authentic and super fresh. The frozen margaritas we ordered were fabulous, too! We didn't have room for dessert but the waiter brought out complimentary fried banana flautas which were a perfect ending to a great meal. What a gem of a place for Newburgh! We can't wait to go back. They have live mariachi on Fridays and karaoke on Wednesdays. read more

Read reviews on Yelp and decided to give Chillitos a try. Glad we did. Guac and all sides were made fresh from scratch when we ordered. We had five people in our group and ordered several irems on the menu. Everyone commented their main course was cooked and seasoned very well. Love this place , the owners are so nice, I wish they opened a place in Staten Island . I called here last minute for a reservation for my daughters graduation dinner. They were very accommodating and friendly and said no problem. I had booked for a party of 15, even though half our party never showed up. We were very hungry and ordered appetizers of shrimp cocktail and guacamole. Tasted delicious. I ordered a shrimp dish sautéed in garlic and butter., my husband got the shrimp fajitas . Both were delicious. The sauce from the shrimp cocktail was so yummy, had big chunks of avocado in it..we also ordered pina coladas . They were very tasty too. The owner was so nice , gave us chips and salsa on the house and deserts to. I doubt I will be back because I don't live local. But, I encourage anyone who lives in Newburgh to definitely try this place out. Decorated so pretty, food was all delicious , and very nice owners. It is located in the Newburgh mall too. It's expensive for a Mexican Restaurant already! I ordered take out for 4 people, but the bill was 8 dollar's more then his own website says. When I asked why the owner stammered around saying the menu just changed a day or two ago. Rather then honor the price he choose to loose a customer. I'm sick of feeling taken advantage of and saying nothing. I have been in twice. The first time the bill was 125 because I did not realize how ridiculous priced there mix drinks are. Ridiculously expensive I'm all for good Mexican food, but this restaurant's pricing and policies make that far from you need to be concerned about. Their prices are highly marked up for Dinner. Knowing that usually drinks are ordered with meals, they've lost no time in marking those up as well where I almost fell out of my chair when I received the bill. Close to $200 later for tacos, enchiladas and chimichangas, I noticed there was a 22% tip added to the bill where I questioned the waiter and he told me it was because those tips are automatically added to bills over $100. Then he argued it wasn't 22% so I took out my calculator and showed him I can do basic math. Seeing it on my calculator screen, he continued to deny it being 22% and then said well it's because we were a large party. We were 6 of which 2 were small kids. Then he left and came back and said his cash register "system" automatically only allows that tip and he can't change it but can add on to it if I'd like. He was just trying to get wise with me at this point. I found their pricing and way of doing business unethical and more than anyone needs to put with for tacos that were just Ok. No reason to pay NY Steakhouse prices for tacos and burritos. Plenty of other choices nearby that doesn't break the bank. read more

My fiancé wanted to try this place out. Being 9 months pregnant I'm very picky with Mexican food but this place did NOT disappoint. I craved tamales with mole sauce and had asked the waiter what kind of tamales they had. It wasn't with mole BUT he said they can put mole sauce over the tamale if I would like and that was a thoughtful thing to suggest especially with my craving. I got the tamal, enchilada, taco combo and when the food came out it looked amazing. Everything tasted great and at the end we got this banana dessert which tasted so good I wanted a 2nd.
