Really enjoyed this restaurant! It was lovely, the service and the food was outstanding! The owner gave a free fresh appetizers to us. Later on we ordered one dessert which was a churro and he ended up giving us three free fried bananas. Totally recommend if your around the area, because it has the best Mexican food! read more

I had my meal DoorDash'd tonight and it was still hot when I opened it up. -They threw in complimentary chips and salsa which I was hoping for but would have been ok if it didn't. Both look and taste homemade, and the salsa has a little bit of heat to it. (I'm sensitive to spice so a lot of low-heat things feel spicy to me.) I got the taco/burrito/chimichanga combo which includes rice & beans. Sorry, no pics because I was very hungry, but it was visually appealing as packaged - rice and beans on either side, and each of the combo items lined up in the center with sauce garnishes placed appropriately. - The taco was a bit more basic that I was anticipating - very finely ground beef, bland flavoring, basic hard corn shell, but the sauce and cheese toppings did help. The taco was placed next to/on top of the rice when boxed up so it was soggy and started to fall apart as soon as I picked it up, even with a barely-5 min delivery time (I live close buy but couldn't go out). - The rice looked nice and fresh, texture-wise was pleasant, but was a bit bland as well and could have used some more flavor. 2/5 for both of these. - The refried beans were good on tasty and texture for me, and had some cheese melted on top. (Always yes to cheese) 4/5 - The burrito was smaller and rolled differently (thinner and open-ended) than I anticipated, but the flavor was there! I'd definitely order it again. 4/5 - I've never had a chimichanga before but I would absolutely order it again! The flakiness of the tortilla was very appealing to me, and the item was just so tasty. The shredded beef in both burrito and chimi totally helped to redeem this meal. 5/5 I'll definitely order from here again and recommend this place to people I know looking for good Mexican food. read more

Tonight I was stunned to see four drunks at the bar, one with his head on the bar, one that eventually passed out in the bathroom and one that could hardly find the door. This place is soooo cute!!! I stopped by here to kill some time while I was having tires put on my car. I am so happy I did. I sat at the bar and ordered a margarita which was a good standard margarita. As soon as I order they brought over some awesome chips and salsa for free!! The salsa was traditional Mexican salsa- which was delicious! After having a few chips I decided to order a quick appetizer because of how good it was. I ordered the chicken taquitos which were sooooo good. Crispy outside, full of flavor, delicious sauces! I wish I had more room to eat but I had to go get my car! At the end when paying the bartender gave me a free tequila shot- which I haven't done in a long time!! It was actually pretty decent tequila! The service was great the whole time! Great news! The menu says they don't charge extra for chips & salsa! But they charged me $5.95 (eating there) for them. And the time before that, we had 2 alcohol drinks, but got charged for 3, And the time before that, I had 1 beer and got charged for 2, And the time before that, another 2 alcohol drinks and got charged for 3. I have come here for lunch a few times...both with friends and alone. The menu is large. The food is delicious and plentiful. I like the fact that I have a choice between a table and a booth. (I chose the booth). I have tried several of the Mexican restaurants in the area (Newburgh & New Windsor) and Chilito's is my favorite. Here is one case of a Mall restaurant being a 'cut above' others in the area. If you like Mexican food, do think of Chilito's. read more

First off the place is decorated very nicely, very colorful and fun! Second menu had lots of options and varieties to chose from. Finally service was exceptionally warm and attentive. I have been here about 5-6 times because it is that good. The atmosphere is interesting. Lots of hand painted murals and tables. Very festive. The food is always amazing. The staff is so friendly. The last time I went I wanted to try something new. They gave me a suggestion and it was chicken in a cheese sauce with vegetables. I can't remember the name but it was fantastic. Wholly guacamole! I pushed my family to try this restaurant instead of a chain while driving upstate. It is located less than 5 minutes off 87. We just had the best Mexican food that I've had in years! We came in for a late lunch and even my discerning kids raved about how great it was. It was very authentic and the service was excellent. We had homemade guacamole to start, and the complimentary chips and salsa were fresh and really good. We had Mexican steak tacos (delicious and with great presentation), combo taco/enchilada/burrito, beef burritos, and chicken burritos. All were delicious and came with very tasty refried beans and amazing rice. Don't be put off by the location in the mall. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area. read more

It could be 5 starts but unfortunately most Mexican restaurants season for the American taste and so does Chilito's. The food is good Mexican fare and it tastes great. The salsa is probably one of the bests I've had in a restaurant in a long time. But the guacamole needs salt and lime and the food needs a little spice kick in the ass. So again by American standards it darn good, but I wish American eateries would give us REAL seasoned Mexican food. Still if I'm in the area will come back. Friendly staff and very accommodating. I am always a little skeptical about restaurants in a mall but this place was really great. The guacamole was made fresh and was delicious. The enchiladas mole poblano were outstanding. The sauce was smokey and bold. This dish was so good my boyfriend wished he had ordered it. He had the beef chimichangas complete with the homemade hot sauce which although too hot for me he described as "flavorful with a good kick". I can not stress enough how great the service was. Couldn't even order food. So it was Cinco de Mayo, and after reading a few good reviews I decided this would be a good place to order food for take out. I tired calling multiple times but the phone was never answered and would disconnect. I figured they were busy, so me and my wife drove over there instead to see if I could order take out in person, we were already out running errands and it was on the way back home. When we get inside there was a line of people waiting to be seated but there was no one sitting at reception desk. We waited for about 20 minutes until a server came out to ask how many people needed to be seated, I told him I just wanted to order take out. He gave me a pen and told me to write my order down...on a take out menu I just had happened to bring with me, he didn't even provide me with paper. And then he immediately leaves before I could give it to him. So then we wait another 10- 15 minutes and a totally different server comes out, and asks me how many people needed to be seated. I tell her I just wanted to order take out and she says ok....and seats the couple behind me who showed up later than us and didn't have any reservations. And leaves me and wife standing. We waited for about a nother 5 minutes before we just left out of frustration. TL;DR: service was either understaffed or sucks. Didn't even bother to just take down a simple take out order. If you're looking for an outstanding Mexican meal and are willing to spend just a little bit more, Chillitos is for you. We stopped in on our way to New Paltz and had the BEST Mexican food in quite some time. Guacamole made tableside. Fresh chips and salsa. I had the enchiladas mole poblano. My honey had steak fajitas. The food was okay as far as taste, plates came out very hot but the chicken in the burritos was still cold. Margarita pitchers on the website and menu are $40, but we were charged $60 for the pitcher. Tried to inquire about the overcharge but the staff didn't seem to understand.
