    Family birthday celebration
    Kathren K.

It was a great time with our party of 15 on 08/25/2024. Ethan, our service was wonderful! He he was very patient and amazing with our rambunctious and hungry group. Thank you for helping us celebrate a wonderful Veteran. Oh and the food was plentiful, hot, and very tasty~ great time had by all~

The new queso was not good at all. It was too watery with no cheese flavor. The fajitas though were very good and the male bartender was very nice and polite.

Sirloin steak with garlic butter mushroo.s and steamed broccoli

What a treat. Had a great bariatric meal that was just enough healthy food and tasted great. My 6 oz. Sirloin Steak was cooked perfectly and so nicely seasoned. My sides were garlic butter mushrooms which stole the show and steamed broccoli which was cooked to soft texture and went down nicely. Good to know that this place does have healthy options for those who don't want the fried stuff.

Our group of five was trying to get a quick dinner in before seeing a movie. We were sat right away, our waitress was fantastic and took really good care of us. She was friendly, funny, and attentive. We did all apps for quick eating and it came out fast and hot. A few of my group got drinks and they also were really quick from the bar. The manager even came by and made sure we were doing okay, which we were. We were able to get a good meal in and still make our movie on time. Restaurant was clean, not too over air conditioned and bathrooms were kept up.

Have been here many times, being in the neighborhood and loved the overall experience. Overall I would recommend this place. Here are my takes: Food/Drinks: In our multiple visits we have never been disappointed as such with food and drinks. Except maybe last visit when Espresso martini was not the best that I have tried ever. Service: Servers have been mostly very welcoming especially our last visit and pleasant experience. Ambiance: Clean restaurant and has nice interiors as well. No complaint as such here. Price: Maybe a little above average but for dine-in needs these are worth it for a good evening. I would not go here every day but wouldn't mind being here occasionally.

This is the side house salad. Not even half the cup was full.

This must have been an off night...I hope so, anyway. My husband and I ordered a pick-up meal from this location. He requested a medium to well done hamburger with chili. Chili was like black paste. I'm thinking the cook forgot to add some key ingredient because all it was this seasoning and paste. The burger was pink inside. I ordered chicken tenders with a side house salad. The tenders must have been refried as they were tough and stringy. The salad came in a paper cup.....not even half a cup. Very disappointed as it should have been an easy meal.

We visited on a Friday evening - Friday the 13th of January. Kim was behind the bar, extremely slammed, his peer called out, no management presence. Nonetheless she did it gracefully. Please get a manager on the floor or behind the bar to help this poor woman.

GREAT Food, But Apparently Service Is Now a Scavenger Hunt…read more This is a tough review to write because the food at The Mexicano is still A+. Unfortunately, this week's experience made it impossible to keep my previous 5-star rating. We stopped in around 1:30 p.m., when there were literally maybe six other people in the entire restaurant. Somehow, we managed to have three different waiters because each one became preoccupied with something else. At one point, we had to get up and go to the bar ourselves to ask for things. Nothing says "full-service restaurant" quite like having to become your own waiter. And then there are the recent changes to the menu and happy hour. Happy hour for individual tacos is no longer seven days a week--it's now Tuesday which has been reduced to one $3 taco. One. Taco. Refer to menu I've uploaded. I have no idea if this is an attempt to cut costs (there hasn't been a change in ownership), but if that's the strategy, I worry it's going to be a case of saving a few dollars while losing a lot of customers. Cutting back on the things that made people love coming here--great service, variety, and an appealing happy hour--doesn't exactly feel like a recipe for success. To be clear: this review has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the food. The food remains excellent. A+. The issue is the overall experience and the noticeable changes to what used to make The Mexicano such a great place to visit. We've had consistently great experiences here in the past, which is why I originally gave it 5 stars. I genuinely hope they reconsider these changes, because I'd much rather be writing another 5-star review than updating this one. Great food + increasingly nonexistent service + a disappearing happy hour = a restaurant that may be eating its own lunch.

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

But I wanted something hearty after donating blood the day before at Phoenix Fan Fusion. I felt like I didn't eat enough to replenish all of the corpuscles I shed, so a hearty late breakfast was in order. I was pleasantly thrilled with my choice of Presidio Cocina Mexicana, as the late breakfast I ordered did not disappoint! I ordered the Chilaquiles, which are essentially breakfast nachos, and you have a choice of protein to add. I chose the birria beef which was perfectly slow-cooked and complemented the corn tortilla chips, cheese, and eggs superbly. I opted for both the red chile and green chile sauce which coated the chips along with a generous layer of tangy cotija cheese. I asked for the eggs scrambled and they cooked them just how I like them... fairly dry and in a thin griddled layer. Add to this mound of well-seasoned goodness a decent dolloping of Tapatio hot sauce (and salt and pepper on the eggs) and I had endless perfect bites of spicy, meaty brekkie goodness that brought delighted yummy sounds from my grateful gullet! This was quality food and the couple at the bar next to me raved about the Menudo, so it has all the hallmarks of authentic Mexican fare. It restored me from borderline anemic to my usual strutting rugged caballero self. "¡Arriba, arriba! ¡Ándale, ándale!"

Put your name in at reception and you were taken back usually after a small weight. We didn't have to wait yesterday. The servers are really friendly and checked on a frequently refilling hubs soda a few times without him having to ask. Our waitress also brought us an extra bowl of spicy salsa because she saw we had eaten all of it. Just brought us another basket of hot and chips. On our first visit, I got enchiladas and instead of rice and on the side I decided to choose their potatoes. The potatoes are so delicious. I love them, and I will look forward to these again when we return. Today we ordered: - Coke - Diet Coke (no Coke Zero here) - NACHOS GRANDE - Tortilla chips, cheddar & Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños. Choose seasoned ground beef, slow-roasted chicken or refried beans, or for an extra dollar, substitute fire-grilled steak or chicken fajita. I chose the chicken fajita protein topping. I ordered this for an entrée, but it would be a really good appetizer for 3 to 6 people. It's almost like cheese crisps, halved, with lots of melted cheese and a small amount of meat on each tortilla half. In the center there are toppings. I enjoyed the pickled jalapeños because they weren't extra hot. This hit my comfort food spot. I wasn't able to eat the whole thing so it was so big, but it was exactly what I was looking for. - THE GRANDE COMBINATION - Beef, chicken, cheese enchiladas, cheese chile relleno, tamale, crispy beef taco, guacamole. This combination is HUGE! Even the plate is grande. Absorbed this, and I think his eyes were larger than his stomach. He filled up on the beans and the rice, the chile relleno, and the taco. He got to take three enchiladas and a tamale for dinner the next night. A very nice tasty plate. Complementary chips and three types of salsa are brought to the table. Of the salsas, one is a red sauce that is mild, one is a pineapple tomatillo, and one is a spicier red salsa. The chips are nice and fresh and thin and brought to the table warm.
