This is one of my favorite Mexican food places, I love how they make their chimichanga especially. I also really like their salsa, tacos and enchilada's. They also put in the effort to make sure your order is ready at pickup time so it's as hot as it can be by the time you get it home. The one item I would NOT recommend is the Pastor Burrito. I ordered one the other day and I was so disappointed with the amount of chewy pork fat that I ended up throwing the entire thing away after a couple bites...it was gross. I know pork can be a challenge because of the fat content but if you're going to offer this on your menu, you really need to do a better job sorting out the fat. This is our absolute favorite location of Carambas! They have such a great staff and make the best margaritas of all locations. We absolutely love the salsa bar that they offer at Carambas, and usually we just get burritos because they're so filling my husband had the Kearny Asada, which came with guac and pico inside and he said it was absolutely delicious. I had the shredded chicken green chili burrito which was full of flavor and so filling! Where do I start. Besides being one of my childhood favorite spots growing up, the Mexican food and hospitality here is amazing. My grandparents go here often, and the staff at the restaurant treats them INCREDIBLY well. I feel good knowing they are taken care of even when they go out to eat. This is how I know I've done my job well raising my oldest son. I offered to take him to dinner last week and he asked for Mexican food. I nearly cried. But I didn't. Instead, I drove us to the nearest Caramba. The first time I tried Caramba was several years back when he was a youngster. We stumbled on the Glendale location and enjoyed it very much. This was some time before I signed up for Yelp! Then about a month ago, my fiancé and I were out and about when she chose the Deer Valley location for lunch. Instantly, I recalled this great little fast-Mexican style restaurant that serves sit down quality food. Seriously, these guys don't charge enough for what you get. Just look at the amount of food I got with my $11 entree! I couldn't eat it all. Thank goodness my son was with me, cause he never stops eating. We had a chance to sit down outside on the patio, enjoy the great weather, and catch up while discussing the quality (and portions) of our meal. He agreed that the food was very, very good! And he remembed those early visits to the other locations in the Northwest Valley. There are a lot of Mexican food options across Phoenix. And for the most part, the cost of any meal, anywhere won't set you back much. But seriously, the bang for the buck can't be beat at Caramba. Especially when you consider the huge menu, the quality of the ingredients, and how good their take on Mexican food is. I've never had a tamale smothered in enchilada sauce until this last visit. Our first visit and even though I said "perhaps our last" I need to retract that comment because the food was excellent and told the chef. Our cheese enchiladas were cheesy with lots of sauce and flavor. My chicken Cesar salad was excellent. The chicken cooked perfect, flavorful and tender with crispy romaine. The dressing wasn't to fishy tasting. There are two issues: 1. The gal who took our order was RUDE!! I ordered 1 margarita on the rocks and 1 blended. I wanted to make sure she heard I wanted sat on the rim so I reiterated that to her and she replied "I heard you" with an attitude. Unfortunately the blended totally lost its flavor but my husbands blended was spot on with both taste and alcohol content. I said to my husband "return the blended and let them know it has no taste and basically tastes like water". When he did, the same gal who took our order wanted to charge us for another margarita instead of kindly replacing it with a margarita on the rocks. And of course, all with an attitude. I realize it's a small place but when I was a server, I ALWAYS made sure my customers likes and dislikes came first. That's how it's done to keep customers happy and returning. I did tell another gal who was diligently cleaning and sweeping the dining area why the blended lost its taste and she replied "the "on the rocks" is the best" and I totally agree!! So much, we bought another "on the rocks". Nice place. Not a restaurant style, more like a take out with tables and cushioned chairs but clean. They have a fresh salsa bar for the free chips you get with your orders and both chips and salsa choices are yummy. They keep the restaurant very clean at least the day we were there the gal was diligently cleaning which is nice to see. My biggest complaint was the gal who took our order and her awful attitude!! I was in the service industry and the customer ALWAYS CAME FIRST no matter what their gripe was. I tried this place for a breakfast burrito a while back and was really disappointed. I am Caucasian, but I know a tortilla needs to be warmed before you add eggs, etc., apparently the cooks here don't know that. I like to support local restaurants, so, I tried again. BIG Mistake, ordered cheese enchilada combo meal It was greasy and disgusting. So much sauce on top of the measly enchiladas, I had to dig through the grease to find the actual enchiladas. I ate in the restaurant, the food was served cold. In addition to this, they have a "self-serve" soda dispenser, which is typical. (However, there is a collection box next to it). Potato. Rolled. Tacos. I have been looking for rolled potato tacos for years, literally. Southern California has this vegetarian option at many a taco stand but not here. A few weeks back I just happened to search for that magical combination and was blessed with the suggestion of Caramba - a place I have driven by but inexplicably never visited for like 10 years. The potato taquitos/flautas are incredible - topped with lettuce, cheese, green onion, and tomato much like a Bertos. Crispy without being too greasy. However, the potato mini chimichangas are the absolute JAM (#18 combo). Deep fried to flaky perfection, topped with all the deliciousness above. 10/10 highly recommend. Would eat them every day if possible. I also ordered cheese enchiladas (included a side of rice and beans). I've been looking for a replacement for Ajo Al's/Macayo's (both have rice made with chicken stock). Again, Caramba provides I ended up with a metric ton of chips as one cheap order of chips is a full bag (Grubhub didn't mention that part)! The hot sauce is amazing without being too spicy (it still definitely has some heat) as is the pico de gallo. The only thing that wasn't mind blowing was the cheese sauce. It was good, not great. I definitely ordered again 5 days later. I'm so very pleased to have a vegan/vegetarian mexican option with more than one item available on this side of town. read more

The restaurant have a salsa bar, where costumer get their own salsa or Pico de gallo. The salsas wasn't to spicy, maybe the restaurant caters to people that doesn't eat spicy salsa, However, I believe that a Mexican restaurant should have at Least one spicy salsa.... isn't that what makes Mexican food tasty many times? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. If I could give zero stars, I would. Apparently his restaurant can afford to be rude to its customers. I ordered shrimp ceviche, a tamale, and super nachos with delivery by Grubhub. I was planning to make meals for two days with the order. First, they told the driver that they didn't have the order. They were rude to her and did not want to discuss. Then they supposedly made up the order while driver waited. All the food was cold. The nachos were supposed to have fajita vegetables (which they didn't) and no beans (which they did). The tamale was also cold and mostly cornmeal. It was inedible. The only item that was worth the money was the ceviche. They probably could not mess that up since they probably made the batch this morning and just had to spoon it into a cup. OY CARAMBA! The last time I ate at one of these Caramba's someone there highly recommended getting the Salpicon Salad saying that it was delicious and tasty and he thought it was the best dish they make. It's listed as a salad so I was expecting a salad. I did ask them to leave off the cheese and sour cream to lighten it up a little for me. But all this salad appeared to be a fried flour tortilla smeared with beans topped with a small amount of lettuce with a very small amount of fresh made plastic tub like chunks of chicken and topped with a big glob of guacamole. To me it looked like a tostada. It was a $6.25 tostada. I read on a sign that the chicken and a bunch of other stuff is made fresh every day and is never from frozen. I also didn't eat the fried tortilla the food seemed fresh but it was a small amount of food. TWO STARS for the Chicken Salpicon Salad I also had a Margarita and it was so strong I thought I tasted AntiFreeze in it and I also thought it might make me grow hair on my chest. My husband liked the Carnitas Plate. He said it was nicely seasoned and the meat was moist. It came with rice and beans and a giant flour tortilla that could hold a small body. I'll leave them at three stars because my husband liked the carnitas here. We were going to have a donut next door at Lamar's but it was after 12 and they were almost out so you might want to check out Lamar's before lunch. All the Caramba locations are open everyday for lunch or dinner. read more

The Giant Carumba Burrito for $5.95 are you kidding me, this is 3 meals for me. Burrito takes up the entire aluminum tin with lettuce tomatoes and sauce. Even though it is huge still has good taste, I get the beef and it is served wet in the enchilada sauce. Also comes with chips and has a small good salsa bar. You order at the counter and they call your number to pick up the food. If you are looking for a fast inexpensive good quality clean Mexican restaurant, this is it, They do live up to their motto "Where you don't PESO much!" For the money you spend and the food you get it is a 5 star, but 5 star is an over the top restaurant for me.
