went to high school at murrow, so I frequented chikurin loyally over mediocre ma sake a few blocks closer. I love their spicy tuna rolls, and I love their soy sauce, and their rice is distinct sweet grains of heaven. This is the place I comically discovered the abomination of baby chopsticks, which essentially work like wooden tweezers. Chikurin is, essentially, the best value per classic roll restaurant you could possibly find anywhere in Brooklyn and probably in the US, imo. I'd love to be proven wrong if you could find me a restaurant other than other Chikurins that have better tasting rolls for 2.50-3 dollars. I love the waitress named Tina. She is friendly, helpful, and a good hearted person. This is overall a good business, but they do cut corners a little here and there. This is my go to place in the area. The service might be slow sometimes, but it's clear that the staff are attentive and friendly. The assortment of sushi, sashimi and maki is great. Prices are really good too. It's always nice to sit down and relax. Takeout is easy too, but I usually call in and pick it up. Highly recommend! read more

This place is just awesome! It's my favorite sushi place in Bensonhurst. There's a ton of different types of sushi rolls to choose from, lots of rolls that are 50% off making it $2.50, a great sit-down place with a nice ambiance, and the food is delicious!!! I usually get their rolls, sushi and sashimi pieces ($1-$1.25 each), but friends have gotten their bento boxes and those are amazing too. This particular Chikurin happens to be the closest where I live now, so I will go with friends if we don't feel like cooking or got stuck at work late. I found the one on Kings Highway, which isn't terribly far, to be better - food and ambiance-wise. They have great sushi, and their fried rice is also pretty good, though not really worth the price (Ten bucks. For fried rice.) The staff is always friendly, and my take-out food is always right on time, so that's a big plus for reliability. read more

There are a few Chikurins in Brooklyn. This one on Ocean Ave is our favorite. It's very specious with private booths. Waiter and super friendly and tolerable to children. Menu is great! Lot of special rolls. Highly recommend this place. read more

Their delivery is timely and the prices are about what you'd expect for sushi in the area, but the food itself is completely inedible. I decided to try them instead of my usual sushi restaurant (Kumo) and their sushi was rancid. You could tell from just looking at it that it just wasn't fresh - it looked like it had been sitting out for days and I couldn't even attempt to eat it. I see that this sentiment about the freshness of their food is echoed in several other reviews, so I doubt this problem has been rectified as of recently. read more

Absolutely astonished!!!! I have been in BK for about 4 months now and have yet to find a good sushi place that I felt comfortable with to try. I read all of the reviews on Yelp and read that they renovated and saw the new pictures and decided to give it a try. The menu was true to the reviews! $2.50 for an entire roll with 6 pieces for MULTIPLE classic rolls and special rolls for under $10!! Their sashimi pieces are $1.10 per piece which is unheard of in my experience for the quality that I received! I am always very weary of sashimi given that it's not as fresh and you end up paying an arm and a leg for one piece. I was incredibly impressed with how large this place is, the quality of the food, and the ambiance is fantastic!!!! I will DEFINITELY be back here. This restaurant is definitely a new go-to spot for us! The fact that it's walking distance from my apartment is just icing on the cake!!! Can't wait to come on a weekend night! read more

If I could select 0 stars for this restaurant I would. To start off their dishes were so dirty I asked them to change my plate three time and each dish had snot like stains. Eewww. I love the Shumai and their Chicken Maki, but they put it on top of paper doilies, and it sticks to the food which is a huge hassle. Chikurin is hands down my favorite sushi place in Brooklyn. You get amazing sushi for such a cheap price, it's totally worth it. The staff seats you very quickly and they don't take long to take your order. I've been to this place at least ten times and I can honestly say that their spicy tuna roll is the best I've ever had. I've been to several sushi places and have concluded this! One time I went with a friend and we really wanted to experience a sushi boat. Always go by this place, and from the outside it looks sketchy and who knows . There are no windows and the building is mostly baby blue painted brick and a display case outside with a few pictures. We decided to come here and give it a try since it's in the neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor and the size of the place. It was very nice and had some cute booths for couples. The menu is enormous. It took us awhile to go through the whole thing . The sushi was good , and some are pretty creative. Some are the norm u would find at other Japanese restaurants. I wasn't in the mood for sushi much, so I ordered the tempura udon. It was so delicious and very mushroomy!! Service was not bad for an Asian restaurant. They gave me an obviously dirty cup - minus a star for that. They gave us 3 scoops for complimentary ice cream which was nice. It was pretty creamy green tea, chocolate , and vanilla ice cream. I ordered two rolls for delivery: an Alaskan Roll and an Eel Avocado. The two rolls were absolutely disgusting. The alaskan roll consisted of smoked salmon instead of raw salmon, and it smelled spoiled. The eel avocado roll was nasty as well. The avocados were brown, and the fish was chewy and did not look appealing. All in all, I threw out my food and completely lost my appetite. never eating here again! read more
