I stopped by Chim Thai recently and had a great experience. The Drunken Noodles were spot on--full of flavor with that perfect balance of spice, fresh veggies, and tender noodles. Definitely one of the better versions I've had in North County. For dessert, I went with the fried banana and ice cream and it was the perfect finish--crispy on the outside, warm on the inside, and paired perfectly with the cool ice cream. Simple but so satisfying. The service was amazing, the lady was super cute and nice! portions were generous, and the atmosphere was vibey. If you're in Oceanside and craving Thai, Chim Thai is absolutely worth checking out. ITS MY FAVORITE read more

Amazing food, but for take out only. Dining in is a terrible experience, takes HOURS to get your order.

This place is the real deal for Thai food! My husband is Thai, and he was so impressed -- he even wants to bring his mom here. The portions are more individualized, but the flavors are incredible. The papaya salad is bright and citrusy with the perfect umami balance, and the Pad Thai has that authentic charred wok flavor -- absolutely phenomenal. It's a smaller spot with about eight tables, making it a true hidden gem. Service is quick, and the owner is so kind and welcoming. We love dining here and will definitely keep supporting this place! read more

This review is of my own personal experience and does not reflect the experiences others may have had eating here, whether good or bad. I ate here twice in a week. My first ever time was excellent. The service was so good, the food was good, the server was attentive in filing up water glasses and asking if everything was ok. I was going to write a five star review, but after my latest experience I decided to downgrade to a two star. My latest visit was like night and day. There were two employees out on the main floor and only two other tables occupied when I arrived. The table I sat at was dirty and I had to ask to have it wiped down. When the order was taken, not once were we asked if we wanted anything to drink by the server. Even as the meal went on, our server did not come to ask if everything was ok. The server never once thought to ask if we needed anything to drink. We ate an entire meal without as much as being offered a glass of water. One other note is that soy sauce comes in small packets like the kind you get at Panda Express. Invest in a bottle of soy sauce. It can't be that much to have a bottle of soy sauce at the table. I will say that the food is good and the prices seem to be the same for all items all day long, meaning that there are no lunch specials. My first time, lunch for two ended up coming out to $49.00, tip included, without any beverages and just water to drink. For some that amount is not that much and for others that is a stretch, especially for lunch just for two. Would I eat the food again? YES, but take out only Would I eat in the restaurant again? NO. The service has demonstrated that it's too inconsistent in just two tries. I don't have the patience to go to a place to see if the service will be on a bad day or not. With inflation and today's high prices, I'm sure many people eat out less and it's now more a luxury to eat out. With that being said, there are too many other places to eat that are consistent with both overall quality and service. For some, eating out is a treat and should not be a gamble to waste money. Rating 1-5 (5 Being the highest mark) Ambience = 4 Quality of Food = 5 Service = 2 Value for Money = 3 Overall Experience = 3 read more

I'm glad I decided to try this new Thai restaurant. Their food is fantastic! I always order more than I can eat so that I have leftovers at home for a couple of days. I ordered Som Dtam (papaya salad) - it reminded me of what the street vendors in Bangkok make. Also ordered the Drunken Noodles, as well as my two standbys (and dishes to evaluate a new restaurant) Tom Kha Gai Soup and Pad Thai with Shrimp. All three were excellent! This place is now my favorite local Thai restaurant read more

We had a great dine-in experience. Chiim Thai is higher-end Thai food but the price is reflected in the quality. We did the Chicken Puffs and Potstickers as appetizers. The puffs are thai samosas and were very sweet and flavorful, although on the smaller side. The potstickers are more standard fare but were a big hit with our two year old. For entrees we had the Drunken Noodles with chicken (medium spice), Eggplant with fried tofu (medium spice), and Braised Beef Panang Curry (no spice so our toddler could eat it). The curry was the superstar, it was wonderfully sweet and savory and complemented the beef. We thought the noodles were also very good; the stir fry flavor was on point. The eggplant took third place with more mild flavors, but we still enjoyed it and will likely order it again. Medium spice level for two of our dishes was equivalent to a 3/10 at our regular Thai spot. Overall, great food, friendly service, fair prices- we'll be back again! read more

really really good! we got the drunken noodles, crab fried rice, and green curry + appetizers. we got medium spice level and i was pleasantly surprised at the spice! it complemented the food well. the service was also really friendly and nice, as well as portions and it was good for four people. finished all the food. lastly, the ambiance was really nice and pleasant, not too big, but not too small. would come again! read more

Just like food in Bangkok Thailand!.. Love it!!! Very friendly staff. Always clean and inviting.

Must try now!!!! We ate at Chim Thai restaurant for the first time since their opening three (3) weeks ago. The ambience is pleasant, clean and the service was quick. The dishes were appropriately priced and I would have paid more as the flavors were so delicious and individually devine. Spice level mild was just perfect for me. I love that you have Vegan options. We love that you opened in Oceanside and will definitely visit again when Thai food is on our mind. read more

Tiny, yet cozy. Great food & service! You can't go wrong with the Drunken Noodle and Thai tea.

Best Thai food around. They really work at doing a good job. I went in on Sunday to get a carry out and all the seats in the restaurant were packed. Must be good if that many people are willing to be in such a small space. read more

The restaurant has only a few tables, but their food is awesome. The best Thai food I've had. We really liked the Panang Chicken Curry, Gai Lan Crispy Pork Belly, and Chicken Satay. I could eat that curry on rice every day. I was disappointed that they were out of the Fried Bananas and Ice Cream. My daughter says they are the best. I meed to go back to try them. read more

I found the food to be very tasty, and similar to the Thai cooking I tasted growing up in Hawaii. I was greeted promptly by a server, and offered water and a choice of beverage. And our server followed up soon after. The restaurant is small, and sparsely furnished. We dined early and were able to get a table without a wait. Food was served hot, and a variety of spice levels. Pricing was fair. As the restaurant gets established I think they would benefit from upgrading seating, and perhaps improve decor, a short term fix could be including some plants and fresh flowers to soften the space. It was a drive for me to get here, and would return but more than likely to take out vs eat in. Only one server but she was very efficient and friendly. read more

4.8 stars. Small place in a strip mall. Service was fast & food ready when promised. Ordered the lump crab fried rice (delicious), Pad Thai w/chicken, drunken noodles w/chicken (excellent) green curry with chicken (nice kick), fried egg rolls (perfectly fried, not greasy) edamame w/garlic sauce. Second time we ordered from Chiim. The Pad Thai was not quite as flavorful as our first time. Ordered medium heat for everything & is now our go-to Thai place. Prices seem reasonable & food was piping hot when we picked it up for take out. The only knock is that they could provide a larger container of rice to go w/the curry, so we ordered extra rice. read more
