I like that they have a GPS tracker so you can see what time they came and left. Sometimes they even send a picture of your pet, which definitely brightened up my day at work. I'm sure this service has saved me from a lot of poop and pee on the floor. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my fur child. This will be a long review. I have a lot of great things to say. Allison and I attended the same college for the same degree, so we knew each other back in the day. We ran in similar circles. But this was 20 years ago. We hadn't spoken since college. I ended up moving to Austin a year ago for a job which required A LOT of travel. I saw a Facebook post that Allison had a pet sitting business. I contacted her because I felt like I was abusing all my friendships by asking them to take care of my cat while I traveled. Allison and I had a quick and energetic catch-up on the phone and scheduled a consultation. Allison and her partner came over to my house, and met my cat, Dewey. They quickly bonded. What surprised me the most was how professional this business is. Allison had a bunch of paperwork to go over with me. It was a legit operation. They have a website with a login where I can schedule services and pay my invoices. This has become one of the most useful aspects for using Chico and Chums. I can schedule a service on my portal and know that everything will be taken care of. A few months ago Dewey had some bladder problems and was on medicine. I had to go out of town for work and was terrified to leave him. Chico and Chums took great care of Dewey, and gave him his medicine, and gave me detailed updates. I was still a bit worried, so I asked for Dewey to be taken to the vet to make sure he was still okay. C&C was able to interact with my vet on my behalf and it really was a relief to know Dewey was in good hands. Now when i have to go out of town, I just immediately schedule service with Chico and Chums. I stopped asking my friends to help out because, honestly, you get what you pay for. The ease of scheduling and peace of mind that comes from using Chico and Chums is worth every bit of money I pay them. This has eased my stress and guilt about leaving my cat while I have to travel. We normally have family members or friends take care of our cats when we go on vacation but now that we have moved to Austin, that isn't a feasible option and to be honest, I was nervous about trusting someone I didn't know to care for them however Jay and Alyson from Chico & Chums put that fear to rest. Both Jay and Alyson came to our house for a consultation to tell us about their services and to meet the kitties. We got a good impression from them and their rates are reasonable so we hired them to stop by our house twice a day for eight days. What I loved most about working with Jay and Alyson was the fact that they sent daily updates on how the cats were doing and a lot of the updates even had pictures, which made us smile each time we opened their email. I could tell from these updates that pet care wasn't just a job to them but something that they genuinely loved doing and that they were enjoying the company of our cats. They took care of minor cleanups that our cats also seem to make and even took out the garbage when it was full of cat food cans so we wouldn't come home to a stinky garage. When we got home, our house was in clean condition and the cats seemed happy, well fed and taken care of. Although it wasn't needed in our case, it should be noted that Chico & Chums is also an insured pet carer which is a definite advantage over hiring someone like a neighbor to care for your pets while you are away. Chico & Chums is AWESOME. On the days that I work long hours, I'm glad that I can rely on someone to take care of my little fur baby. Let me start by saying that I'm a little apprehensive about doggy daycare. My pup's behavior around dogs that she doesn't know is a little unpredictable, which is what lead me to Chico & Chums. Alyson was on time and professional at our consultation appointment. My dog immediately ran to her and her permanent affection was won with a homemade treat (given to her with permission, of course). The consultation questions were thorough, the prices are very fair, and animals obviously feel at ease and safe around Alyson. The first time I used Chico & Chums, Alyson went to my house twice. Once to let my dog out and once to feed her and take her for a long walk. I received updates on my cell and even got a picture of my gleeful, smiling pugger :) The second time was a last-minute appointment, but Alyson made time to make sure my dog had her bathroom break, dinner, and walk. I'm so happy to have found this wonderful LOCAL business! I'd been taking my dogs to Camp Bow Wow for years whenever we'd take a vacation. This review is not to bash CBW - they are a great place to take your dog. There are factors you don't have to worry about when using CHICO & CHUMS, however. For one, kennel cough or any other various thing your dog may pick up from another. They get to stay in their own home, with their own surroundings that they're used to and are so much less stressed because of it! They were fed and walked and loved on three times a day for an EXTREMELY affordable price I received regular text messages/emails with pics of my babies hanging out in the yard soaking up the sun. So not only are your animals not as stressed while your gone, but YOU are too! Best part was coming home at 2 am and they were there to great us at the door... instead of having to wait for the following day to get them from the dirty kennel, pack them in the car, and then wait a few days for them not to be pissed off at you. I LOVE CHICO'S AND CHUMS! Jay and Alyson are really special people. They truly love animals. They really care about what they do and it shows. They go ABOVE and BEYOND and have truly exceeded my expectations. It's hard to find people that you feel like you can trust to come in to your home and care of your fur babies, but as soon as I met them I felt completely at ease and I knew it was the right choice. I love getting pictures (great photography btw) and text messages about how my babies are doing. It really makes my day. They will always bring in any packages that were delivered to your door. If they have extra time, they will try to stay a little longer and play with them. They have a GPS so you can see what time they stopped by and how long they stayed. Their prices are very fair and reasonable. The best part is the super cute pictures Jay posts on Facebook with the pets they take care of along with a funny quote of what the pet is saying or thinking. Sometimes you just need to trust your gut, and I'm so glad I did. I had a reservation for APDC for our two dogs (fur-babies) but just couldn't get over 1)the cost and 2)how my youngest pup might react in the away-from-home boarding. So, I searched many websites and relied on the previous ALL 5-star reviews for Alyson at Chico and Chums. Once I met with Alyson, I just knew she would love and care for my pups while we were gone for eight days. My two are very rambunctious and crazy and will jump and lick until the cows come home. She didn't seem to mind. So, I left her probably 2-3 pages worth of silly things that might help (or not) while we were gone. She went above and beyond my requests and lists. She walked them almost every day, if not every day, which was a bonus the dogs loved! She texted me their daily activities and pictures to show me how happy they were. It made my vacation even more enjoyable knowing that someone was there giving my pups the attention I would give them. Thank you Alyson!
