I don't normally like to put bad review but this place and the lady that runs this place should be stopped immediately from touching animal. I took my 2 beautiful Pomeranian dogs to her because it's super close to my place and she took me in short notice but it was the most horrific experience I had in my life with any service providers. Beside the fact that she have no idea about cutting hair , she shaved them to skin no blending and holes every where you look. I literally was about to cry when they came back, you can see in the photos and videos , she also work in super dirty place and my dogs came back all their skin with ticks and fleas and they never ever had one before ! When I contacted her and asked my money back instead of apologizing and send the money she had the balls to tell me " you don't know me and be careful for you life " attached messages photoscreen. I have no idea how she have good reviews I guess it's all fake or it's people that don't care about their dogs but I strongly suggest to STAY AWAY!! read more

I went back here for the first time in about 7 years. I 100% no longer recommend this business. It has went downhill dramatically. I should have known when I called to make an appointment and I could barely understand the woman that picked up with all of the dogs barking in the background. When I arrived, the smell of urine was so incredibly pungent it burned my nostrils. I had a KN95 mask on to protect from COVID and it still stunk terribly. There were multiple dogs trimmings all over the floor around her grooming table. It looked like she may live there, as there were stairs leading up and they had water jugs on all of them. There was residential furniture, etc. Her clothing was covered in so much hair. I understand that she's a groomer, but these were large chunks of hair. The place was cluttered and messy. I almost turned around and walked back out, but I figured that I had already gotten my arthritic old lab into the car and brought her in, let's just get this over with. Just a quick nail trim is all she needed, can't be too hard, right? Wrong. It is one giant room and the 9 or 10 dogs in cages and behind a baby gate room divider all barked loudly. So loudly that when I could not hear the woman helping me, she pulled her mask to the side and began talking super loudly/almost yelling, about a foot and a half from my face. Great. Hope she doesn't have covid. Then she told me that I would need to hold my dog for her. I've never had to hold my dog before at a groomer, but okay. She had me hold her on the filthy floor. I felt gross kneeling on it, as it badly needed a cleaning. She had clippers and a file. She decided to use the file, commenting that her nails were pretty short already. Not true, she was well overdue for a clipping. Her nails were all hitting the floor. It was super fine and did hardly anything. I commented that K&A usually uses a dremel file on her. She says she has one too. She gets it and returns. I tell her she is overdue for a nail trimming, as her nails are all hitting the floor (hint, hint). I also tell her we're trying to quick train her, so please go short. She says she doesn't want to cut her. I said no, just go until you see the white circles. She's a chocolate lab and has dark claws, so you can trim safely until the center of the nail shows some white. She didn't do that. The second file is also super fine/dull. It's taking for-ev-er. My dog is getting hot and somewhat antsy. The temp was super warm in there. I was sweating a bit. She finished a paw and the nails were still too long. I let her know they were still touching the floor. She did go back and redo those. She told me that she normally works on the table and it is easier to see what she is doing up there. I told her that is fine, if she wanted to do that, we could move her. She then tells me that I would have to hold her, she wouldn't collar her to it and I would need to accept responsibility if she fell. WTH? I'm not a groomer. I've never done that before. Let's stick to the floor. When she finally finished, they no longer touched the floor, but barely. It was only $11 and yet I feel ripped off. She had me use the back door to leave (to avoid walking through the frostbites drive through lane). She warned me the dogs would bark (as if they had ever stopped). The larger dogs barked, 2 more showed up and all 3 lunged into the plastic baby gate room divider that pushed forward/was unsecured as these dogs lunged toward my poor dog and she held them back. My dog was frightened. Never again. Why 2 stars? She was nice. That's the only reason. I left with a splitting headache and my nostrils have literally burned ever since. I didn't know urine could do that. It was awful. Never, ever again. Don't do it. BTW, K&A is great, as long as you ask for one of the owners. Their employees can be a bit hit and miss for nail trims. Still SO much better than this place. read more

I needed to get our Goldendoodle bathed and a haircut but my regular place was booked out pretty far (a testament to how good they are!) so I called PawTender who could get him in. The text on drop off and pick up was very professional but that's about all I have good to say. Dog was supposed to be ready 2-3:00 but I ended up having to go in at 6:00 and help finish the job. My poor dog. I wonder if he got to go to the bathroom or get a drink anytime during the day. Needless to say... I won't be back. Yelp needs to offer a zero star option. read more

I brought my senior dog to Brenda and Stephanie for some TLC - bath, grooming, etc. They love what they do and they really care about the doggies they help. They not only did a great job - more importantly for my old fur baby - they were gentle and careful and took time to talk to her and engage with her not just zip thru the process. There is nothing simple about grooming a dog for the first time let alone one who can't stand for long, is slightly incontinent and needs pads trimmed, ears cleaned etc - the works. I want to highly recommend Stephanie at Tender Paw for grooming! I have a rescue cocker spaniel that is very nervous and has had bad experiences at kennels and PatSmart. She was so kind, gentle and had a calm voice and Remi was at ease with her. She looked beautiful and smelled great. I had her toenail cut 2 days ago at Emancipet but they didn't do a good job so Stephanie redid them. She also does pet photos for special occasions that are super adorable. Give her a try. Took my dog in to get groomed. He had some mats, and I told the groomer I just needed those gone, even if they needed to shave him. When I came to pick him up, he had only really gotten a bath, been dried, and his nails slightly filed. Groomer told me to come back the next week to have him shaved. I've never had to pay so much to have so little done. Plus it's really dirty in there, my dog came home sneezing the first time and after I took him back to get shaved. read more

You hurt my dog. You practically slit her throat from ear to chin (I don't even want to know what you were doing to her to cause that to happen). You took her to the vet of YOUR choosing without my consent. You then lied to me about the extent of her injuries, telling me that she would only need a stitch or two, when in reality she required 12 stitches AND anesthesia (something definitely not recommended for an 11+ year old small dog). You also injured the other two dogs we brought in with her. One had a puncture wound in her ear, the other had a large burn under her chin (seriously, are you guys trained at all in dog grooming?). Those two dogs were severely traumatized, refusing to eat and cowering in their crates for the next two days. You DID pay all the vet bills, as you should have, but you never once called to check on my dog, considering the vet said she was bleeding pretty badly when you brought her into his office. You would have gained 5 new and loyal and frequent customers (these three dogs plus two more owned my family members who just live just half a mile away) had you done your job properly. But you didn't. You fail. read more

We took our marshmallow here today for her first visit to a groomers. I was so worried about leaving her somewhere. When I called I was reassured and even sent pictures of my happy girl getting her hair done. She is a Great Pyrenees so her hair can definitely a daunting task. When we went to pick her up she was happy, her hair was perfect, and she had her ears and nails done as well. We take our miniature poodle there and they do a great job. Drop off is early in the morning and they call you when it's pick up time. Our poodle always comes home smelling so fresh and clean. Her haircut looks very cute and well done. She even gets her nails painted and bows in her hair at no additional cost. It's a small establishment but well kept and professional. The girls working there are friendly and very kind to the animals. Their prices are way better than most places. The only thing is that, my dogs anal gland got infected there once and I am not sure if they expressed her glands correctly or even at all....I need to make sure I make a point of asking every time I take her there and pick her up. read more

Another red flag is the fact that he would come home, hide and act very distraught for 2 days. Somethings not right with this place. I have been taking my shih tzu to Pawtender since 2009 to get groomed. And every time I pick him up he looks cute as could be with a little bandana around his neck. I usually get his body and face cut fairly short because his eyes run so bad but I like his ears and tail long. I am thrilled with the results each time. And the price is great. Probably the cheapest I could find up north. I also use them for pet sitting because I have two more larger dogs at home. I love it! The dogs are calm because they get to stay home in a stress free environment and I can tell they are happy and have been well taken care of. There is never a mess in the house and always water in the bowl. And everyone I have ever met at Pawtender are so nice and they remember my dogs every time. I totally recommend Sherry and her staff. I don't typically write reviews, but today's service made me feel compelled. I've got 2 senior Yorkies that have gone to countless groomers over the years. My male is extremely hyper with behavioral issues. From the phone call, to drop off and then pick up, they were extremely friendly and eager to groom them. They were about $50 dollars cheaper than the last two groomers and every past groomer gave me the attitude along with the price tag. I would recommend anyone to these guys! So my husband got to eat his words this time. After our grooming experience today, we will not be going back. I sent the same list that I sent along last time of what needed done to my dog. No where on that list did it say to hack her fur off down to her undercoat! I always ask for a silhouette trim so that it just reigns in the strays and makes her look neat. As a matter of fact, everything on the list was followed by the word "trim". "Trim leg fringe" turned into her almost being shaved on her legs. Silhouette trim turned into her only having about 1 1/2 of length left all over body. I have an American Eskimo. She is supposed to have a full, beautiful coat. Her head and ears are trimmed in such a way that she looks like a Bichon and it's all very choppy. I am very upset because her fur may not grow back right now. This is the closest she's even been cut down. Additionally, you can see a lot of her pink skin which can cause her to get sunburnt very easily so now she has to stay in the house until she fills back in some. I absolutely hate this grooming experience and based on how my dog is acting, so does she! I contacted the business and she said they'd issue a full refund which was followed by dead silence. I asked if they had our address and they said yes. My husband is going to speak to the owner tomorrow. Very, very unhappy!!!! read more
