    Whole Chicken Meal.
    Rashmi G.

I've had Chickenhug on my list of restaurants I've been wanting to eat at for a while. We were going to an event in Tempe so we thought we'd stop in for dinner beforehand. The restaurant has a lot right next to it for easy parking; it's a pretty small place with only a few tables but while we were there, it seemed most people order takeout as we were the only ones dining there. For me, my husband, and my son, we ordered the whole chicken meal. Since our son was eating too, we got the chicken as half original and half garlic basil. They have options of getting the chicken over rice, fries, veggies, or any combination of the three, so we went with all three. It was served with two pieces of pita, coleslaw, garlic sauce, spicy sauce, and yogurt sauce. It was an ample amount of food for all of us. The chicken was very tender and fell off the bone. There was a lot of rice, lesser amount of fries and veggies; I understand the concept of serving everything platter style, but it would've been better if the fries were served separately as they got soggy when covered with rice and from the juices that dripped off the chicken. I think the biggest issue with the food was that every single item was overly salty. You can see in pictures that they coat their chicken in a lot of seasoning, and then if you ask for one of the sauces (garlic basil, spicy, or smokey BBQ), it's added on top of that. The fries too had a lot of seasoning. Veggies were perhaps a little less seasoned, the rice was also salted. I did appreciate the simplistic menu. If items are made with less salt and other spices are retained, this would be a really great meal to share family style. If you're in the area, check them out. Everyone was friendly, food came out pretty quick after we ordered.

Long overdue review as I haven't been since their soft opening. I went recently with my family and got the family meal which comes with 4 chicken quarter pieces and it's worth it. Each sauce has a unique and distinctive flavor that makes it delicious. The rice and fries are great sides along with the coleslaw. I highly recommend this spot

yummy tender chicken, spiced well. I thought the sauce was really good but my boyfriend thought it could have been more flavorful. I feel like he's wrong LOL. The chickenhug meal was definitely enough for two people and IMO pretty reasonably priced. Workers were friendly and helpful!

I saw the reviews and the pictures and decided to give Chicken Hug a try. Sometimes it's hard to find a place with good chicken that isn't dry. Here, they did not dissapont! We ordered 1/2 spicy chicken, and 1/2 garlic and basil meal. It comes with a huge portion perfectly cooked and seasoned rice and, a portion of ok fries. The chicken is very juicy and tender! Full of flavor! The only drawback is the salt amount. We aren't shy on seasoning, but this was borderline. The service was excellent! The man behind the counter was friendly, helpfull, and more than patient dealing with new customers! Very small sitting area, but clean and neat. I highly recommend this place, if you aren't afraid of seasoning.

I knew I would like this place when I opened my car door in the parking lot and smelled the deliciousness in the air. It is a middle eastern place, specifically serving the food of Jordan. This place is not fancy. It's kind of a strip mall place with the walls and ceiling painted black and little chicken pictures and signs in the wall. You order at the counter and your food will come out in a Styrofoam box. You can see the food being cooked, which I always like. We ordered the half chicken meal, which comes with a choice of rice, fries, it veggies--we chose the rice. We chose the spicy sauce for the half chicken meal. We also ordered the chicken wrap meal with the garlic basil sauce, which comes with fries and a drink. I reserved this for very special food, but I will say my chicken with the spicy sauce was f*****g fantastic!!! Soooo f*****g good! The rice was also delicious, and there was a ton of it. The cole slaw tasted super fresh and crunchy. The wrap was grilled and the chicken was so good. I cannot say enough great things about the food here. It's so delicious and I might actually have dreams about it at night.

Spicy half chicken with rice. Husband says it's not very spicy. They will let you sample the sauce.

Updated to add photos. We love this place and probably will go weekly. The owner already knows us! The chicken (we get the original) is so tender and flavorful and the sides are generous portions. The only thing that didn't impress me is the bread. It's fresh and made onsite. But it has no flavor. But it's really an afterthought anyway. The owner is warm and friendly and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Check it out!

Chickenhug Chickenhug Meal - Half Chicken with rice, french fries and veggies. Halal Mediterranean style Chicken is very tasty, we shared the 1/2 chicken meal and was plenty for the both of us. Good portion of rice which h is yummy, red potatoes and sweet potatoes along with very good tasting French Fries. Came along with a tortilla size pita and 3 dipping sauces which one was the yogurt, a spicy salsa and ranch? Restaurant is small and could drive by it if you are not paying attention or using GPS, look out for the rooster statue in front of the shop and that will lead you to the front door. Nice thing going on here, support local business

I was referred by my Lebanese friend Jack, he said just try, you love it. I tried, my wife tried, We Love it! The chicken so moist and juicy with a crisp flavored skin that makes your mouth beg for more! The Roasted whole onion couldn't be sweeter if you tried, the rice, light moist fluffy with just enough saffron to give you a taste of Heaven. Crisp crinkle fries, with side of mint yogurt and coleslaw. The light and fresh pita to help wrap it all up, just excellent! They have a selection of lebanese carbonated drinks to give you that touch of Lebanese flavor, thank you Habibi ! Don't pass on this place, its going to be IYKYK fast!

Searching for new place to eat I find this place. What an interesting location, you would have to know this place exist considering it's next to a transmission shop office. Don't make same mistake I did and walk into the transmission office. .. New restaurant so of course it was nice and clean, with friendly staff. Decided to order the chickenhug half chicken meal. I asked the difference between half chicken meal vs chickenhug meal and he said chickenhug comes with all the side dishes. So I said why not. Initially I thought to myself, hmm almost $20 for half chicken meal little on the steep side.. But nooooo how much food you get for that price, actually pretty darn good price point. You could feed 2 people with all the food that came with the order. Guy who took my order was nice enough and offered me free drink on the house, so I got me some Mexican coke.. That was nice of him. OK so I get my food and he said potato weren't quite done and asked me if I wanted to wait for it while I'm eating so I said yes. Open the container and I'm greeted with steamy hot chicken with nice soft and chewy pita bread on top of the chicken. I forgot what kind of pita bread he told me but it was thin and nice and chewy. Surrounding the chicken it was filled with corn, onion, French fries. All that on top of rice.. Side plate came with yogurt sauce, garlic spice sauce and coleslaw. Chicken was pretty interesting, I opted for spicy, and it was not spicy but it had pretty good flavor. Chicken was fall off the bone, moist, and juicy. Probably one of the best roasted chicken I tasted. Corn was sweet, French fries was pretty good with seasoning. But the darn rice, yummy and flavorful. I ripped up some meat made little taco with pita, added some onion, and dipped it in the yogurt sauce and also spicy garlic sauce. Yogurt sauce was nice and refreshing but my favorite was the spicy garlic. I could not finish the food and he asked me if I want the potato to go and I had to decline.. Since I was beyond stuffed. Asked the guy who took my order what country the dishes come from and he said Jordan. I was pretty happy considering I never had Jordanian food. This place was really 4 and half start but with such a friendly staff and tasting the love and care they put into the food I gave it a 5. I also love the small menu... Your choice... Chicken and side dishes.. I would definitely come back here again.

A very large group of us came into this small restaurant to try the food. The first greeting was all the chicken signs covering the walls. I could stop there with a great review and tell you must come to see them. But the service and food was great too.

Ive been here a few times. Tonight I did not feel so happy so I came here to my fave chicken spot. I live 35 min away, but the drive is worth it as the food is always on point. The young guy at the front is always kind and the people are welcoming. I will be back soon! Thank u!

If you love roasted chicken and rice, you've got to check out Chickenuhug. They recently opened in Tempe and have already become a community favorite -- and now I understand why! A few days ago a friend brought me in. I was not too hungry because I just had eaten dinner but wanted to check the place out. Let's say I forced myself to eat and can't wait to go on an empty belly. They offer several flavor options including original, spicy, garlic basil, and smoked BBQ. I ordered mine plain with sauce on the side which is the original and paired it with rice. You can also choose fries or veggies as your side. The meal comes with a delicious garlic dip (toom), a spicy sauce, and coleslaw. Then a new sauce that was garlic/herb. That is now my new favorite sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. You don't need sauce. It honestly felt like enjoying a home-cooked roasted chicken meal from a Middle Eastern kitchen. Portions are very generous and the prices are fair for how much food you get. We got the half chicken meal was $19.99 and definitely worth it. We even got an extra one to go. Which I munched on it the very next day and it was still savory. The vibe is cool. It's a small venue inside but seating both indoors and out. The staff is super hype with lots of personality they will help you order. I'm loving the service.

Obviously we had to order the fried chicken, and I loved that all the sauces came on the side so you could dip and try different flavors without the chicken getting soggy. And the biggest surprise for me was the cheesy corn topped with pork. I would have never thought of that combo myself, but it was actually so good. Creamy, savory, cheesy perfection. We went pretty late at night, so parking was easy for us, but I could definitely see it getting hectic during the day since it's in the same plaza as H Mart. So best to double check before going!

After deciding on fried chicken, instead of traditional wings, it took way too long to place an order despite 5 employees (not sure if they were actually employees, it just seemed like 5 people running a co op and hanging out or something) being near us. As we were waiting for our food, we glanced around and saw many odd things like a filing cabinet used to store chopsticks and other items. We wanted to sit at the bar but half of it was taken by employees, boxes of shoes, really random items. After about 15 minutes the chicken came out. No sign of the ranch that we requested, but at least we had food. After looking at the chicken, it became apparent that they had brought us wings. I asked the employee if they had made a mistake, but he let me know that their fried chicken is all wings, despite the word "wings" never appearing on the menu in the fried chicken section. The saving grace here is that the chicken WINGS were quite tasty. The breading was crispy and the sauces were good. I could see how this would get soggy for takeout, so I recommend dining in for fried chicken WINGS. Overall, super weird place but the chicken WINGS are good.
