It was my first time here & I was a tad confused, but the young lady at the counter made that experience well. A terrific little spot to have a quick bite to eat and refuel the batteries, they offer tantalizing chicken salad varieties for a fair price, as well as some exquisite pimento cheese dips. Chicken Salad Chick is one of the few chains that I genuinely enjoy and find the consistency no matter where I go. The Port Orange location is a good one, with attentive and polite staff and tasty chicken salad dishes. I should say the word again, "tasty," because it is. What I really enjoy about Chicken Salad Chick is the fact they have a lot of different varieties of chicken salad (at least 12), as well as sandwich and pimento cheese offerings. I usually order two to three different types of chicken salads when I'm there on a bed of lettuce, maybe even some pimento cheese. For my money, the Classic Carol is a good start, the Cranberry Kelli, because I like the sweetness of cranberries that make it quite hearty, and the Buffalo Barclay, which if you are a fan of wings, you won't be dissatisfied. Additionally, the Pimento Cheese is super good with crackers. I used to love this location. I went into tonight around 6:30 and they were out of sassy Scotty. The kind young girl at the counter (Camille?) told me it would be a minute because they had to make more. No problem. While I was standing there waiting there were two young gentleman in the kitchen goofing around and talking very loudly about how they were completely out. Then one of the males told the girl at the front (jokingly) that she was useless and kept joking around Not my kind of humor, but was more bothered that I was literally the only one in there and it had been 10 minutes since I ordered. I used to work in food service and loved chatting and having fun with my coworkers, but this was not conversations I'd have in front of customers. I got my order after about 15 minutes and left. Got home, opened the container, and started stirring it. Then I noticed a grape. Thought it was pretty weird since there are no grapes in sassy Scotty. Whatever. It happens. Ate two bites, and on my second bite I tasted something sweet and discovered it was pineapple. Kept stirring and found five more pieces of pineapple. There is not supposed to be pineapple in sassy Scotty. The whole container is sweet and that doesn't go well with cheese, ranch and bacon. It is now in the trash . I am pretty sure they took a few different kinds and mixed them together instead of making a fresh batch of sassy Scotty. I called and spoke with Angel who apologized and made some comment about how it must have been scoopers mixed up or they mixed up trays? I particularly like that the "Chick" meal comes with a little cookie! It's the perfect finale to the meal and it's SO GOOD. I will say that this location didn't seem to have the same flavors as my home location, but I think that could have been due to seasonality. What was absolutely insane though was the unnecessarily high use of plastics in every part of the meal- from the eating utensils to the plastic encasing the tiny cookies they give to each patron. And then... there's absolutely no way to recycle all that plastic. Everything just gets chucked in the trash.
