This BBQ restaurant DOES NOT TAKE ORDERS ONLINE! I ordered thru GrubHub and drove 25 minutes hoping to get some good food. I was told that the restaurant does not offer online and the owner was out of town and had some one who cannot cook anything that hasn't been pre made. I said okay I will get my money back from GrubHub. I asked what can I get and was told that they can only make me a pulled pork sandwich. I said ok, and for my troubles they said don't worry about paying the 5.00 for the food. The sandwich was so wet from the thin sauce it lacked good BBQ Flavor. I will not comeback for more. My wife and I ordered the mushroom cheesesteaks on DoorDash. What we got was hamburger patties on sub rolls with cheese. No grilled onions and about 6 mushrooms on the side for both subs. We took the subs back to the restaurant which is also called Philly Fresh on DoorDash. The owner was extremely rude to us arguing with us that it was steak and that grilled onions were not on the menu description. He refused to give us a refund and told us to leave the restaurant. We went out to the parking lot and he followed us out still yelling at us. Yelling that if we didn't get out of his parking lot he was going to call the police. Just to inform anyone reading this, we had ordered cheesesteaks from here before and thought they were good. This was our first time there and found the restaurant to be dirty. I was door dashing and I had to pick up an order from this establishment for delivery, it was midnight so I was surprised to see the place was open this late during the week. I walk in and the Mr Jeffrey or whatever his name is , was standing behind the counter . He asked me what I needed , I said "I'm door Dash" he said , "what's the name?" I told him the customers name , and he said "hold on" . So I waited . He started a choking sound , and then proceeded to say something I couldn't hear , so I went to the side counter , I see a bag on the counter and he is is standing there just staring at me. I look at him and ask if the bag is the customers . He clears his throat , says "he can't talk" . I am a little thrown off by the strange interaction , so I ask again just to confirm if the bag was for doordash , as he is standing there just looking at me , very awkwardly .He then says "Yes, now get the HELL out of here." This was a very strange thing to say to someone who's doing a delivery for your company, or anyone for that matter , so I looked at him unsure if he was just goofing around or serious , I then asked him , "I'm sorry... what was that?" He then said "take it and GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE " . If this is how your treat people who come into your store for no reason , it would explain why your place was empty and why the owner is having to work late at night . I couldn't imagine being a staff member to a person this rude . What was the reason for this kind of interaction with a door dash delivery person? I'm just showing up to do a job . Had this been me from 5 years ago I would have thrown the order in your face and told your old , over weight balding ass to deliver the food yourself and keep the attitude as your tip. Learn some respect , we don't earn enough as delivery drivers to be talked to like that . "Get the hell out of here " why? In what way had I deserved that , I spoke 4 words to you , I wasn't rude , I didn't come in being disrespectful. I walked in to provide a service that your establishment uses . I was doing my job and I do it well. This man needs to get his attitude and his issues in check and not talk to anyone as if he is better . If you were better then maybe your reviews would be as well. You can always tell a fake 5 star that a family member or friend writes . It's the one that is posted to either discredit a negative review , or posted immediately after a negative review to keep the facade up. (I understand that Bill Davis is a local legend). Crispy fries served hot, perfect cole slaw. When I found out that Slim's was serving Breakfast, I had to try it. My eggs were masterfully prepared with crispy bacon, delicious home fries and Texas Toast. Fresh Hot Coffee and the price is so low! Do yourself a favor and try this hidden gem for yourself. Slims is the best hole in the wall we've found in the tricity area. Cheap, chill, and tastes good. We had 2 tacos, pulled pork sandwich, french fries, cheese steak, homemade lemonade, and a soda for $18. The food was enough to feed 2 people 2 meals each. The atmosphere was a nice hometown feel, and Jeff, the owner, is easy going and friendly. Everything we ate was pretty good. The pulled pork was delicious, fries were scrumptious, and the cheese steak was good. The lemonade and ice teas are actually homemade cooked in the sun. The lemonade is incredibly sour, just right for those who love to squint their faces. Tacos were ok. The pulled pork tasted much better on the sandwich bun than the tacos, but you can't beat $0.50 tacos. We will definitely be returning. read more

I don't know where to start...They were still closed an hour after they're supposed to be open...Slims giant subs... More like Slims giant mistake. The doors were locked, and the open sign wasn't even on. We even stopped by to change our money into cash just to go to this restaurant! They even advertised a crab leg buffet on Sunday's! And they're not even open!? Unbelievable! Don't waste your time going here, just stop by a BETTER restaurant like subway. At least their subs are credible and OPEN when they say they are. If you're reading this review, and you're still debating where to go, stop debating. This place is fantastic. I walked in, and the owner Jeff immediately greeted me, and struck up a conversation. In between chatting about our hometowns, and about what kinds of things to do in Florida, he recommended a beef and mushroom sandwich. He asked if I wanted a side, and recommended the fried mushrooms. I ordered both, and he made them from scratch. A few minutes went by, and the food was on the table, paired with an au jus from a crock pot nearby. Let me tell you: The food was incredible. If I wasn't so full now, I'd order it all over again. The fantastic food, coupled with Jeff's extreme personable and hospitable service, makes this visit one of my favorites I've ever made on a trip. If you don't stop here while you're in the area, you're missing out! UPDATE: After talking with Jeff a bit more, I asked if he accepted credit cards (per Yelp's question). He told me that he didn't, and that I could just pay him later if I didn't have cash. I do have cash, but it was an incredibly generous offer! We ordered mushroom cheesesteaks from here (because the owner also runs Philly Fresh Cheesesteaks from this location). The cheesesteaks consisted of ground beef on hoagie buns with one slice of cheese and 6 slices of barely cooked mushrooms on the side for 2 cheesesteaks. The menu says the mushroom cheesesteaks also come with grilled onions. There were no onions. We brought it back to the owner and he said us was Kobe beef. I said that's fine but cheese steaks are supposed to be thinly sliced beef, not ground beef and cooked into patties (sorry ground Kobe beef cooked into patties). He told me I was crazy and it was the best steak sandwich. I mentioned the lack of grilled onion and barely cooked mushroom and he said it wasn't made with grilled onion. He told me that he knew his menu better than I did so I asked him to look. He did, telling me the entire time that I didn't know what I was talking about and that he didn't want to serve me or have me as a customer. He then got angrier when he realized that his menu DOES say grilled onion. He then yelled at us and told us to leave while calling us names and saying that we wouldn't know good food and should stay at home instead. Said that Kobe beef is the best beef and we should learn how to cook. We left the establishment when he followed us outside and continued to now threaten us. I told him we weren't in his restaurant anymore, so why follow us out to continue to harass us? He said he would call the police for being in the parking lot. This was the worst food I have ever had!! The business was terrible only 1 person working who didn't even know what the menu was even though they only served 2 items at the time we went as we were told. He then took the bbq pork out of the fridge that was in the lobby in the same place you are to grab a can of soda from that looked to be about a month old!! Jeff was a nice guy. But the food was pretty bad, the place was kinda weird and now a few members of our party are having stomach issues.

This place is absolutely amazing! I had an Italian sub. All of the sandwiches are made to order and you can get a short one for about $5 and a longer one for $9 and the longer one can feed two people easily. Piled super high with fresh meats and veggies, it really is an amazing treat. Very little seating inside, and a little bit of a wait for them to make the food for you, but more than worth it. Amazing service and staff! I will absolutely go back to this gem of a place. read more

Great food. You never know what will be cooking when you go in there, but just talk to Jeff and he'll steer you towards what's good. My favorite is the rare steak sub loaded with sweet caramelized onions on locally baked bread. The other night, there was some yummy looking meatloaf, perfectly cooked ribs, and something called Spanish gravy over very dirty rice, which turned out to be from an old recipe and was spicy and savory, and delicious. Not nearly enough people know about this local gem over in Commonwealth Plaza, but they should. This is the kind of local owned joint, with homemade great food, at a great price, with an owner who truly cares about the quality of his restaurant and how much the customer enjoys her food. read more

Went to this place for lunch! We had a giant sirloin steak and cheese sub. It was huge! We fed our entire family of five from it. We also had half of an Italian sub which was very good as well. Their prices are great and the service was awesome! They even gave the kids a free slice of pizza because it was going to take about 8 minutes on the steak sub. Everything is made fresh when you order. Our kids thought the frosted mugs for your drinks were great. So when you get hungry for a sub and you don't want that processed turkey in beef juices from those other sub guys, support a local business and give Slim's a try! read more

We visited twice at this restaurant during we spent 5 days at Daytona Beach. After searched the Yelp, we stopped by. Loved it, the food taste is good, the owner (Jeff) is so friendly, the price is incredible cheap. The recipe is different with anywhere else, taste is good, the rib, the pork BBQ, the country fried steak on baked potato are all good. Wow what a joke this place has become! I admit it's been two years since I've been here but what a complete 180. When I was here first I had great bbq with good sized sides and awesome bbq sauce. Today I walked in and the owner was walking out leaving behind a female worker who had to be verbally prompted to go over the menu, which wasn't hard cause the chalk board had 4 items on it. She did tell me about premade plates. I ordered the pulled pork bbq and beans. I got it to go as I am just recovering from being sick and have very little energy today. I get home to realize totally unlike last time what I got was laughable. I got three small slices of SLICED pork not the pulled pork I ordered. Not a fan of sliced. Also the beans where in a quarter sized container. Maybe a bite and a halfs worth. Then to top it off there was NO BBQ SAUCE at all!!! Wtf? Let me first start off by saying the owners of this place are awesome! They are always friendly and really helpful when it comes to giving recommendations. I went tonight for a rather late night bite and got the country fried steak with Alfredo Ragu. Let me say that again. Alfredo. Ragu. Omg. It was amazing. The steak was fried perfectly..and the Alfredo ragu was perfect. I got fried mushrooms for a side and jalapeno poppers. Both were fantastic. My fiance got a cheese steak with rare bbq beef and it was great. Seasoned great and packed full. Got some homemade lemonade (a must) and it was the perfect compliment and ending to a great meal. After accidentally discovering it through yelp last night(even though it's maybe two miles from home) my boyfriend and I were too curious not to check it out today. We went mid afternoon, and the place was empty. We were greeted by a very pleasant friend of the owners. Despite his admittance that he'd only been helping a week or so, his service was excellent and the food was delicious. Very simple menu, presentation and delivery. We both are more than we should have.... I'm still full hours later! And we brought some home.
