I was thinking about lunch and was craving some pastrami. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and I'm glad I finally did! This is a mobile order so I can't comment on the restaurant but all of the food was well packaged and with appropriate utensils in the delivery bag. I ordered a Pastrami Reuben and a Garden Salad. To start, the garden salad was ok. It's shredded iceberg with chopped provolone, cucumbers and olives. It also has sliced onions and green peppers with a smattering of olives, chopped banana peppers and a couple of tomato slices. I topped it with Larry's Italian dressing, and it was good. Now the Reuben was very good. I'm not a huge fan of rye, but this was very subtle. It had a decent portion of pastrami. The dressing and sauerkraut were good, and I opted for provolone instead of Swiss cheese. All in all a very filling sandwich which fulfilled my craving for pastrami. I'll order from here again... maybe not a salad but I'd like to try the corned beef. And they do have other sandwiches on the menu... read more

I'm a long time customer when in the area of a Larry's. I've eaten at this location before. Today I was at the UPS store and smelled the bread and couldn't resist. The fillings of the sandwich were fresh and delicious but the bread was not. Rarely do I return food but because I don't eat much bread anymore I will only settle for the best. Upon ordering I asked if the bread was fresh and she said yes. Even the replacement was not fresh. I'm not an idiot. Wrinkles on the top of the bread is a sure sign it's not fresh. I've always enjoyed Larry's Subs, and this location has a charming, old-timey feel. It's almost like a classic downtown restaurant, even though it's in a strip mall. The subs are excellent, and the menu is one of the largest I've ever seen. They also offer a wide selection of chips, many of which appear to come from small mom and pop brands. On the day I visited, they even had lobster bisque soup. The employees were incredibly friendly, and I only wish I lived closer, because I would definitely come back. They also have an app for ordering ahead and earning points, which is a nice bonus. read more

This particular location of Larry's Giant Subs is located in a shopping plaza on the corner of Clyde Morris Boulevard and Beville Road. It is a decent enough place to grab a sub and was an extremely convenient location as we were about two miles away tops. Larry's Giant Subs were started back in 1982 here in the Sunshine State. They were started in Jacksonville, Florida by brothers Larry and Mitch Raikes. Since that humble start, the Raikes brothers have seen this single location spread throughout the southeastern United States. The staff was friendly and professional. The ambiance is pretty much what you would expect from a sub shop. All in all, this was a convenient enough location to grab a few subs and be on my way. I've never had their side salads before and chose to go with a side of potato salad. I thought the potato salad was bland. I am so glad we found this place! The food is so good and the service is amazing as well. We were able to get everyone something to eat here. In my family, that's great because everyone likes different food items. Based on my past two experiences, I am happy to award Larry's Giant Subs 5 stars! First off, I love the fact that this location is open and serves a full menu at 8:00am! How convenient is it to be able to grab a sub early so that you can easily take it with you for lunch? Also, I have noticed that the employees at this location are very helpful and engaging, even if it is during the busy lunch rush. I cannot express how nice that was to experience today when I was stressed out over having to pickup my car from the mechanic. I just wanted to have hope that my week would get better, and now hopefully it can. Also, I will say that the sandwiches are excellent. I love any restaurant that has a big menu and Larry's literally has 10 different variations on an Italian sub! My main recommendation is to maybe upgrade to the 12" if you're starving because the subs are a little on the skinny side compared to others. But, the meat is always fresh and there are so many great drink options (Faygo, Arizona Tea, Mountain Dew, etc.) Definitely stop in on your next visit to Daytona! read more

Meat and bread was absolutely right... for about a $12 sub. Unfortunately they charged $17. I mean, if price isn't a concern in the least, a very good place. When I can go down the plaza to the grocery store and get a sub with 4x the mean and 3x the cheese for $12, I can't see how they are competing but then again, maybe they aren't, I haven't seen their numbers. Since working out in this area since mid-September I've been to Larry's way more times than I want to admit. I like to think it's a healthy obsession. Not from the area I wanted to eat local for lunch, avoiding the chipotle or Panda Express options. This place never disappoints. My favorite is the pastrami but I've tried the chicken philly, regular philly and even their breakfast sandwiches. They are all SO GOOD. Me and my friends love their subs here. My friends favorite is the giant delight. My favorite is the rueben sub and I like the whole wheat bread with that. The Rueben sub used extra lean corned beef, so I don't feel too guilty eating such a yummy sub. It's very deli like here, casual, lots of embry riddle students love this spot for lunch too, that even after they graduate and move back to Orlando, they would drive over to eat here. The sub I got (New York special) was delicious but let's be clear, these subs are not "giant" in ANY way. I ordered the 8 inch sub expecting a monster of a sub the way some other Florida sub shops are. If you've been to Laspadas in Boca you know what I'm talking about. Heck, a Publix 6" sub is more substantial than the 8" sub I got here. I chose this shop to stop while passing through Daytona because the name "Larry's giant subs" led me to believe that there would be large sub rolls piled high with meat and fixings. There was a good amount of meat relative to the roll, but the sub rolls are TINY. For reference, a 6" sub from Publix usually does the trick to fill me up. I ate my whole 8" sub from Larry's plus a bag of chips and was still hungry. Solid afternoon snack? Yes. Solid filling Lunch? Definitely not. And for $16 for two subs + 1 bag of chips, I would have gotten better value and buying one whole sub/chips for us from Publix for under $10 and calling it a day. The roast beef on my sandwich was delicious and tender, bread was soft and tasted fresh, but at $8.99 for an 8" sub I expect it to be large enough to fill me up. For reference I'm a 130 lb female, not a linebacker. Photo attached for size reference comparing this sub to my hand. I've never been able to hold a sub sandwich with one hand, always needed two. First time I've had a sub small enough to hold with one hand. Maybe my expectations were too high, but with "giant" in the shop name, I feel disappointed and ripped off. My hot sub that I ordered 10 minutes before picking up wasn't hot (lukewarm at best), but the roast beef still tasted great so it seems the quality is there... but I wouldn't return here. I just can't justify paying that much for a sub sandwich and it not even filling me up. 3 stars because it was delicious, but no bueno on value.
