Where to start....I was so excited to try this place since I live in Port Orange & saw they are opening a location here soon. I had been craving chicken salad & thought a restaurant concept based around chicken salad was a great idea. I was too anxious to try it & just couldn't wait for the Port Orange one to open so I drove all the way to Ormond to try it. I ordered the Chick Trio so I could try three different types of chicken salads. I got Luau Lydia, Dixie Chick, & Fancy Nancy. Unfortunately there wasn't a significant flavor difference between them. They lacked flavor overall. The nuts and fruit that were supposed to be in them were scarce. I only had one whole grape in one scoop and never noticed any crunchy nuts. I prefer chunky chicken salad where you can see a lot of the ingredients & textures, but their chicken salads were very creamy. They seemed to consist of mostly mayonnaise or some other creamy condiments. The second major disappointment were the crackers that came with the chicken salad scoops. They do NOT come on the plate fanned out like in the professional photos the company posted on here & on the menu. They are the cheap club crackers in the individual, plastic wrapped packages you see on the table at diners. I expected higher quality, fancier crackers to come with it for the price and style of the restaurant. Crostini would be great! The third major disappointment was their lack of nutrition information. On their website it has said "stay tuned" for nutrition information forever. I talked to the Ormond restaurant and they weren't able to provide nutrition information either. Their advice was for me to call headquarters and ask for the nutrition information. I did. I left a voicemail. Three weeks later, they haven't bothered to call me back. If they can't be bothered to call me back, I can't be bothered to keep giving them my business. I don't care if they call me back weeks later as I understand their office being busy- but call me back at some point. I mean, what did they do? Listen to a customer's voicemail and just hit 'delete'? After checking three different places for nutrition information, I give up. I'm not eating food if I can't track my macros & calories- especially with the amount of mayo in it. Some positive points....I do like the convenience of their drive-thru, that you can buy chicken salad by the pound to bring home (which would be useful if I wanted to eat it again), the flexible menu combination choices, the variety of different types of chicken salads (which would be helpful if they tasted as good as they sound in the menu descriptions). I don't know how anyone gave them four and five star reviews. Those people must have never had good chicken salad before. I expected a restaurant whose specialty is chicken salad to have some of the best chicken salad in the area. Wrong. Even Publix's 'honey, fruit, & nut chicken salad' is leaps and bounds above Chicken Salad Chick's. In Publix's fruit and nut version, you can can actually see the little diced pieces of chicken, the colorful pieces of fruit, & the pieces of nuts. You can taste all the flavors in every bite whereas at Chicken Salad Chick, I was lucky to get one bite where I could taste a grape. My favorite chicken salad is from McKay's Tavern in downtown Daytona. It's bursting with flavors, super chunky, & has a great ratio of white meat chicken to other ingredients. Plus it's served with crostini. Both Publix's and McKay's chicken salad had less mayo, more substance. They lost a Port Orange customer before they even opened here. If you want good chicken salad, go to Publix or McKay's Tavern. I hate to be harsh, but if your claim to food fame is chicken salad, it better be the best. read more

Went to chicken salad chick today for lunch with my daughter. Ordered that chicken salad BLT on wheat toast. I chose the classic chick chicken salad. The chicken salad itself was good, however, not much of a BLT. The bread was not toasted but more in a press, which isn't the same texture. And the bacon consisted of two slices that were limp and cold. In my opinion they could do smaller pieces of bread. The bread over powered the amount of chicken salad. I have wanted to try this place and decided to pull into the drive thru for lunch. It was pretty crowded. I tried the buffalo barclay on sourdough with an unsweet tea. Since it us mother's day weekend they were giving out a free scoop if their signature chicken salad too. The menu said that if you like wings try the buffalo barclay. The sandwich did not have a lot of flavor. The bread also tasted like white bread, not sourdough. I was very disappointed. I bit in it and I mostly tasted ranch. The signature salad was drowning in mayo, so you don't really taste chicken in their food. I didn't finish my meal. If you like a little chicken with your mayo, this is your place. read more

All the food was very, very tasty, but there were a couple of disappointments. My wife's portion of pasta salad had only one chunk of artichoke heart and no black olives whatsoever!! The 2 main reasons she ordered the item, and it came up short. My disappointment was with the portion size. Granted, I'm a big guy, who is definitely spoiled by the NY deli size portions I get back home, but I was really left wanting more, especially of the delicious broccoli salad; maybe an extra half scoop of the awesome chicken salad on my sandwich. Unfortunately, and understandably, part of the franchise model is portion control, but I would've really enjoyed more than a couple of tablespoons of that broccoli salad. The only complaint (and more or less a suggestion) is that I wish they would have put the broccoli salad in a separate container as they did the mac n cheese. I can't recall the names, but my wife and I both really loved the BBQ and the powerful onion flavored one. Portion size was decent and a good value. The little crackers they give you (and keep refilled) are absolutely perfect compliments for bite sized yumminess. We are already addicted and I can't wait to go back soon. All of the staff behind the counter and in the dining room were EXCELLENT in being friendly, helpful, and very hospitable. I walked in and immediately was intrigued. The restaurant is so quaint. The colors are in a very chic green and the tables all have different tablecloths. My first impression was that the place was clean and pressed. It's much bigger inside than I expected. When I got up to the counter there were about 3 couples in front of me. After placing my Togo order it took about 10minutes for it to be ready. I thought for a pre-made salad place it would be quicker, but chalked it up as being busy b/c the drive-thru was also Hoppin'! Grabbed my Togo and left. It's a little difficult to get out of the parking lot and go the direction I needed to go, so I took the side road. It's pretty close to the YMCA. I can see a lot of ladies swinging by this place after a yoga class for "girls lunch". When I got home I was a little disappointed seeing the sides portion size. I expected a little more for a $9 meal. I had the Dixie chick w/pasta salad and my hubby had the Kickin Kay Lynn w/pasta salad and their loaded potato soup. Mine was pretty good. Went there last weekend with my wife. Neat little place. Menu and varieties can be a little overwhelming but the staff is very helpful and they also offer up some samples. Do not understand all the low reviews, apparently some people didn't do their homework before eating here. My wife and I both had the sampler plates with 3 scoops of chicken salad. We also had the broccoli salad and fresh fruit salad. Everything was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. As far as small portions goes, I didn't experience that. Not impressed. When you have a restaurant concept based on chicken salad, the chicken salad better be out of this world. It isn't anywhere close. I ordered the classic, "that started everything!" and was told I could choose it as a sandwich or on a bed of lettuce. Thinking this could be a tasty and healthier alternative to fast food, I ordered the classic on a bed of lettuce and a side of fruit. What?! It came on 1 piece of lettuce, the classic chicken salad had no flavor and way too much mayonnaise. It was served with a handful of cracker (which I didn't want) and a white chocolate chip cookie, which again I didn't want. So much for a tasty, healthier alternative. The sad thing is that I wasted $8 on a lunch that was not satisfying, tasty or healthier - the spicy fried chicken sandwich at Chick 'fil was a missed opportunity today and probably a lower calorie choice. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and the concept is cute, but when your main attraction is a total dud, it's hard to imagine this surviving. 2 Stars is generous; I won't be going back for seconds. read more
