I heard all the hype and had to check it out for myself. I love the concept of chicken salad prepared in various ways. I went with the Chick Meal, which included a scoop of chicken salad or a sandwich, plus an additional scoop and a side--chips, fruit, or soup. I chose the Classic Carol croissant sandwich and a scoop of Dixie Chick. Both had a similar taste, with the main difference being that the Dixie Chick included onions. I love, LOVE Chicken Salad Chick. I first heard of it when listening to a radio interview with the creator. So when traveling through Tennessee, decided to stop. This time we stopped in Franklin, TN. I ordered the Dixie Chick on a croissant with lettuce and a side of the grape salad. The Dixie Chick is the chicken salad with onions. I loved it! If you like onions, this is the salad for you. It has the amazing texture and everything you expect from the classic but with an onion presence. The only negative this time was the croissant itself, it was a bit dry. OK, let me get to the grape salad. It's SO GOOD! It's a little portion of happiness. It has green and red grapes in a cream cheese type dressing with brown sugar and diced pecans. I am drooling just thinking of it again. You are getting a serving of fruit but it's really a dessert :) You also get a mini buttercream frosted cookie that's a tasty little bite and finish to your meal. I like to order a sandwich with a scoop of chicken salad as a side, because I can give my toddler the scoop as his meal, which for $8 or so is a good deal. The bread is really soft and good when you order a sandwich. I am always able to walk right in and pick up my order without an issue. The one time I ate in the restaurant, it was slammed! I just had the an incredible dinner tonight - stopped here on a whim and ordered The Fancy Nancy with no bread. It's chicken salad with Fuji apples and red grapes mixed it. It was full of mayonnaise, it was seasoned so well and the fruit added to the whole experience. For my sides I ordered the pasta salad and fruit salad, both were equally as good. I have been to the one in Bellevue and it was really good. Super excited to have one nearby. Went there on a weekday at 1pm and it was crowded, but found a table. We ordered one sandwich on a croissant and another on white bread. They were good, however the chicken salad we had ordered wasn't on the croissant sandwich, it was a different type, so that was a bummer. With the line and rush, we just decided to stick with what we had. Pasta salad was tasty, but loaded potato soup was too sweet and not very flavorful. Cookie was yummy and a nice touch. Because it was so crowded it was kind of tough to eat comfortably with people standing right over your table...kind of a tight space for a layout. Also, noticed a few booths being taken up by patrons eating by themselves (no fault on them, it's the only seating option they had). However having some kind of counter or bar type seating might alleviate some of that lunch crowd congestion... just a thought. read more

Hubby and I visited for lunch today as part of "Friends and Family Day" (we're not special, just happened to like a Facebook event and one thing lead to another...) I'm so very glad to have Chicken Salad Chick in Franklin, I've been jealous of some of my friends around Middle TN who had one close by already. Any fast casual that has more than six varieties of chicken salad on their menu, and I'm a fan. Add to that a Coke product vending machine where you can get Vitamin Water Acai, I'm really a fan. Add to that the fact that they are on Carothers slightly outside the insane traffic, I just can't ask for much more. Today lunch was the Chicken Salad BLT with the Fancy Fruity variety of chicken salad. I had it on a croissant which was very good, and I will say I wish there had been a slightly higher percentage of chicken salad versus the lettuce and tomato, but really good. My side was a yummy loaded potato soup that ideally was a little bit thicker for my taste... but hey, we're visiting before the place is even officially open... so a few kinks are expected. Most everyone enjoys chicken. Yet, chicken salad seems an overwhelming choice for gatherings of hens instead of roosters. Most of The Chick's options even have female names. It's hens-over-feet a girl-crush vibe. This observation was reinforced on my wife's visit to The Chick where I attended out of curiosity to try a new restaurant. Guys: It's meat. Just submit and tag along. A Rhode Island (a.k.a. Northern) delicatessen creation, chicken salad became popular enough to peck it's way into the social fabric and mayonnaise comfort of Southern teas, brunches, and church socials. The Chick brings it to full artisan status with a dozen varieties from bland to almost manned. At my (too long ago) visit there was a lemon cream soup special. Not sure where it went, but it was nice. Maybe it was a limited-time dish because the online menu lacks any hint of its ever being. Your mileage is going to vary. Sorry, Chicky Baby, but the chicken salad just didn't do it for me. I'm also far from a pimento cheese lover, so I'll leave it for others to enjoy and review. On the other hand, I'd come back for the soups. (And...as the COVID shelters begin to shudder open...the rest of you should try it, too.) read more

We enjoyed the chicken salad. I had the classic on wheat berry bread not toasted. It was really good. The only reason I gave 3 stars is I ordered an unsweetened tea. I ended up pouring it out. It tasted awful like they hadn't cleaned out the dispenser in a long while. I also got a "fresh" fruit cup where the fruit was far from fresh. The service was really good, and I love the way the place is decorated but it could've been a bit cleaner. I also do wish they had spring bottled water instead of Dasani or even SpinDrift like other restaurants are now serving. I would try it again only for the chicken salad. This was my first time here after doing a search for "chicken" nearby while in the area. I'm not a fan of chicken salad or any "meat salad", so I was not particularly excited to go here (with my family, including my one-year old). I was glad for no line and an open booth. I was most pleasantly surprised to get a turkey sandwich and on a croissant. I love croissants and this one was soft, fresh, and delicious! It was a good size, too! Potato soup was so good, but a small portion. The sandwich was big enough that I was full enough to not want more. However, my hubby has a bigger stomach than I. Our little guy enjoyed his Mac & Cheese. He loves fruit also, but I couldn't cut them fast enough. (No real knives available. Plasticware (spoons & forks) doesn't work great for cutting.) I had a bite of the BLT on wheat. Yum, but something I can easily make at home. If you're wondering to give this place a try, I say "Go for it!" I definitely will be looking to try something else from their menu on our next visit near one. (Didn't know it was a chain.)
